Im going to have to come back to you with a few dramas that I think you would like or at least enjoy watching. While none are like Golden Empire in the technical aspect of it, they do tackle the shades of grey of humanity. ^ ^

Chingu right now Im watching Marry Him if You Dare. I have others I go to when Im bored but nothing worth watching. Having said this, MHIYD is not necessarily worth watching. I just love the actors involved. The drama is a romcom with science-fiction in it. The story is a bit different from others because of this, but the same pattern of girl loves boy, boy loves girl, but don't know it or don't want to admit to it, and so girl confides in another boy who loves her while she doesnt love him...etc.
I do like that the characters are ALL funny. It's refreshing and something you can watch after such a storm that blew our way with Golden Empire LOL.
But now you have been warned that is not golden (and no pun intended here) ^ ^

I already answered you hahahaha. I loved your thoughts on this drama, and I have to say I find myself agreeing with more than one thing. But go read my thoughts before I start giving them here again LOL... me is crazy :3

Yes, exactly. I have been wanting to get into Japanese dramas these past few months, but I can't. I just want to watch Kdramas, they are easily accessible to me during this busy time, and I just go from one to another one as if moving by a current.

Also, if you are interested in knowing a bit about communism and what it really is (nothing like what the word means, sadly) you should read into China's communism vs Cuba's and North Korea's, and Venezuela's. Why China can prosper while NK, Cuba, and Venezuela are going down... well, Cuba went down many, many, many moons ago. It's not even the dream of what it used to be before Las Vegas was even thought of becoming the City of Lights. It's all very interesting and somewhat necessary to know in today's world.

Regarding Taiwan and China being different countries. There is a truth in this, however it depends on where you are standing. My boss's family is from China, he tells me the Chinese consider Taiwan as part of China, while the Taiwanese want nothing to do with a communist government. Many see Taiwan as part of China but with its own governmental system. Many others see it as completely different from China. Neither is wrong. Because the Taiwanese are originally Chinese, only their political system is different. While Taiwan should be considered a different country from China, that will take a few more years to be the general view.
China has a communist government but their economy is through the roof because labor is paid way cheaper and it costs almost nothing to other countries like US to have stuff made over there. It's all a business from which only the mighty rich, owners of big companies like WalMart can benefit.
