Lord have mercy! It's like no one in the comments knows what an ensemble cast is. From the beginning of the promo for the show, they've made it clear that this show would be abt all the trainees, not just Ryan. And I'm saying this as a Babii. All the trainees are technically the main characters of the show, even tho Ryan, Tae, and Bahmee have stronger storylines. But we've gotten Pah's arc of dealing with feeling inferior/looked down upon bc of his job and the way he appears. We've seen Pie deal with growing pains of working outside of the university setting, learning about teamwork and her fear that she's not as good as she thought she was. The show is about all of them and their relationships with each other and their mentors. Maybe it's bc mdl put JaneRyan as main characters and the rest as supporting that people keep expecting them to be featured more.
I lovvvve when we get JaneRyan scenes they're absolutely adorable and I get butterflies just from watching them. But their storyline is very simple and sweet (which I love). I love that this show is showing a gradual build to them getting closer rather than throwing random drama at them to stretch out their story for sceentime.
I'm actually starting to think that Off and Gun are product placements in this series like Lactasoy and Oishi…
This is an ensemble cast so offgun aren't the only main characters. It's more abt all the trainees but I think they're doing a good job plotting out the storylines for all of them
Want to start this off by saying that if you're looking for a lighthearted, short, fluffy show with good chemistry between leads, you will definitely like this.
That said, if you care about the actual story of a show, this has been quite disappointing. There are definitely shows that are wayyyy worse than this airing rn, but I'm not watching those. I can say of the shows I'm watching, this is definitely the weakest one in terms of storytelling. I don't believe anything happening in the show. I don't believe that a reputable restaurant would hold this baseless nonsensical competition to give away the restaurant. I don't believe that a business owner wouldn't have asked the competitors to show proof that they actually have the 20M baht before accepting their applications. I don't believe that any of them actually have 20M because they all look like college students. I don't believe that Plawan would advance this far or have ever had a chance with his cooking skills (apparently the book is all about him learning how to cook, which the show has failed to really hone in on). I don't believe Metas as a character, he's so badly written and one dimensional, everything he says seems like a joke. And the acting has really taken a nosedive in the recent eps. I'm not sure if they just filmed these scenes at the start of filming so they hadn't yet really settled into their characters. But I couldn't take anything happening this episode seriously because of how much worse the acting has gotten.
I have a feeling that the show completely failed to capture the story from the book. I haven't read the book, but from what I've gathered it has much better story and character building than what is shown here. There's 1 episode left and I'm not even sure if it's worth finishing. It's just frustrating because I feel like it had the potential to be really good. I don't know if it's because BLs are held to a lower standard than straight shows, but if that's the reason, this needs to stop. They have the resources to tell actual good stories and they're choosing to not do that. Maybe I'm asking too much from a lighthearted fluffy show, but a show can be simple and cute while also having a well developed story. I admit I am wayyy harsher on this show than most, but it's because I believe this production house has the resources and talent to do better. I hated pitbabe and dropped it, but I could recognize the the actors were really good and I wanted to see them get a story that would show their talent.
Dropped halfway through ep 3. I thought the pilot trailer was interesting but I genuinely have no idea why the leads are interested in each other. Their conversations are boring and generic. Since the whole shtick is that they talk to each other without seeing each other at first, I feel like their convos should have had some kind of weight to generate interest in one another.
I don't know how to feel about them teasing??/ a su*cide then turn it into him tripping. It's just not in good taste. Especially building it up so much with showing the breakup and the cryptic text Yu sent. I wish they didn't use such a heavy subject so lightly. I really wish there were more stakes for the characters tho cuz we're 4 eps in and the plot hasn't progressed past "Ai has dreams about Yu that come true". It's such an interesting concept but it feels like the dreams are pushed aside for most of the ep. I need the plot to start picking up at this point.
I think 10 eps is just right for a show like this tho. I hope they don't drag the story line to reach 12 eps
Yeah I saw! I really love this show so I guess I can't complain. It's just gmmtv usually drops the ball when wrapping up shows. Honestly, I would have preferred 10 eps with an open ending for JudyBamhee
