Is Xiao Qiu Shui related to Li Chen Zhou, both have the same face? Isn't that Liu Sui Fung had seen his master…
Hmm so far, the reason why they have the same face is not revealed yet so we don't know if there's actually a reason or they just happen to be different people with the same face.
Liu Suifeng did mention the face similarity in the earlier episodes, but he also said to himself that it's easy for people who truly know Li Chenzhou to differentiate between the two. Basically, they have two completely different auras/personalities so people don't automatically see one and then see the other in them.
Why is everyone behind XQS for the token than Old Madame Wu?
Liu Suifeng believes the hero token is with XQS or at least hidden by XQS because he is very crafty. He was the one orchestrating plans to protect Old Madame Wu and has succeeded in tricking Liu Suifeng a few times. I think some rumours started spreading around about XQS posessing the hero token, can't remember who started it though.
Also, usually Jianghu people tend to not interfere with non-Jianghu people. Old Madame Wu was pursued by Jianghu people for posessing the hero token, but now that she has returned to the capital (if I remember correctly) and the token is believed to not be with her anymore, Jianghu people won't attack her for no reason.
Watching the teaser preview for ep 18...I guess eldest brother Xiao Yiren is unredeemable? 🥲 How could he blame everything on Xiao Qiushui? 😭😭😭 Disappointed with him, but I guess he's also in grief and needs to blame someone. It's inexcusable, though.
So far, I'm still enjoying the plot and progression even though the past few episodes have been about unfortunate events happening one after another. I think when it's reaching a climax and XQS's growth will start. The helplessness and resentment he feels will hopefully help him get stronger. I wonder exactly how he is going to get stronger though.
The part where Xiao Qiushui eating the poisoned pig is really funny. That humming. He is really an expert at pissing his enemies off. Somehow that scene made me like Liu Suifeng a little more, his intelligence is lowered when interacting with XQS, it was quite funny to see 😂
Just watched 13 and 14. I know there's a lot of hate for the brothers, but I'll like to discuss their characters.
Coming from Xiao Yiren's personality and perspective, I felt like what he did was "reasonable" on his end. Don't attack me for this, but his personality has been shown since the beginning of this drama. He is a character who cares MORE about the reputation of Huanhua Sect than his "troublemaking" younger brother. If he was closer to XQS, I would be even angrier that he does not trust him, but it seems like his relationship with XQS isn't that close, just normal brothers. Xiao Yiren mostly follows his father in Jianghu while XQS hangs out with his friends. Though he did try to sacrifice his arm to get Xiao Qiushui to be forgiven, so he's not entirely heartless to his brother. Xiao Qiushui does not need forgiveness because he is NOT wrong, but really, the bad guys have all the "evidence" pointing towards him. Even "respected elders" in Jianghu are all against XQS. Not defending Xiao Yiren because I'm also extremely frustrated by him, but according to how his character is written, his actions (or inactions to protect XQS) is a "reasonable" development given the difficult situation that they were put in. Right now, I'm putting him on hold to see if he'll continue to be a terrible brother or will he redeem himself? But judging from the trailer, he's probably going down in my books...
As for Xiao Kaiyan, he is lowkey sus. I feel like his "timid" personality is so fake, and a lot of words he said is like adding oil to the fire. On the surface, he's trying to deescalate the situation, but actually he's making it worse!
Again, don't come at me 😭, I'm not defending the brothers, but discussing about their characters! I dislike it when dramas have one-dimensional characters, so I like to try to understand the characters more.
Hey guys, this is not drama related (you can ignore this), but I feel unfair for Cheng Yi that I wanted to share this. There's currently an issue (trending topic) about Cheng Yi "scolding audience" on Weibo and some haters have brought it to MDL. Basically, a clip from Cheng Yi's recent livestream has been circulating around saying that he is scolding audience on how to watch his drama. Most people DID NOT watch the whole livestream but focus on that particular clip only. But I'll include the words of a Weibo user that I agree with regarding this issue. I've translated her words but I suck at translating so please overlook some awkwardness in the translation. I honestly think what Cheng Yi said is not an issue at all if you look at it objectively from his standpoint and not through the lens of haters/fans.
All those who said that Cheng Yi educated the audience did not mention the reason why he wanted everyone to watch dramas in an immersive way. You can read his original words, "I hope everyone can be immersed in watching the drama, as an actor, (I'll) actually be very happy." That's right, as an actor, (he) of course hopes that a (his) drama will be watched carefully and chased by everyone, instead of accidentally missing the plot because of doing multiple tasks at the same time. From an actor's perspective, his viewpoint is normal. As long as you have a normal understanding ability, after watching the clip of Cheng Yi's livestream, you will understand that he does not mean that viewers should not watch the drama during fragmented spare time (e.g., during mealtimes, commuting after work), but instead, he means that viewers should not watch the drama in a fragmented manner, he does not hope that viewers watch the drama for 10 seconds and then leave to wash vegetables and brush their teeth etc and then miss out on minutes of the plot.
Can we actually have a link to that, because everything here can be misconstructed. His words during the live…
I've watched it and I'm Chinese. Well, it is currently trending because of the haters. But basically, Cheng Yi did emphasise that every viewer has their own style/way of watching dramas, but as an actor himself, he hopes that viewers can watch the drama seriously. And yes, he did say that if viewers are just playing the drama randomly while brushing teeth or washing vegetables, they should not waste their membership.
I understand where he is coming from and it does kind of make sense because personally I like to focus while watching dramas so that I can pick out small details and foreshadowings and understand the plot. But of course, I also know a lot of people watch dramas just for entertainment and like a "filler" while they do other things. Cheng Yi takes the art of acting quite seriously, and that is HIS preference while watching dramas. In the video, he did say that viewers have their own preferences, but that is what he HOPES as an actor. His words may be overly direct to some, but it is not meant to personally target anyone to scold them. I do think that he could've worded it better especially when during this age and time, people will hound on anything to hate on celebrities. But overall, just ignore it if you feel offended, you're not even a fan of Cheng Yi or this drama (seems like it), so why do you put to much weight on his personal opinions to waste energy being angry about it?
Ignore those hate comments guys! Actual constructive criticism about the show and not personal attacks towards CY is fine, but a whole short essay just to hate on CY is kind of desperate and funny...
Anyways, so far the plot is really picking up! I think this is a growth drama. We have to bear the sadness for awhile before we can see Qiu Shui strive again 🥺 On the side note, I'm really waiting for more scenes with Li Chenzhou. He's so mysterious and I'm kind of worried about his health (he was drinking a bowl of medicine when we first saw him??).
What is Liu Suifeng's background? I have some guesses based on what has been shown currently (ep 11).
1) He is related to Tangmen Clan. As a child, he was locked up and Tang Fang (another child) could visit him? As we have seen so far, the children of Tang Clan have been in crazy competition even as children. They are many children in the Tang Clan, so maybe Liu Suifeng is one of them, but not directly related to the main branch?
2) He looks quite hurt (tears in his eyes) when Xiao Qiushui called him out on his betrayal. And, he also looked down on what XQS said about friendships and justice in the Jianghu. He made a bet with XQS about people coming together because of power and benefit. (I watch the drama in Chinese so I might not use the correct words to describe it in English.) Based on this, I'm guessing his family or parents were betrayed before or something like that? He seems to bear strong hatred for XQS's father and the Xiao family, so maybe his parents knew XQS's dad and something happened between them.
the subtle hint of romance and tang can saying any man that looks at her body must marry her gives me the cringe…
Unfortunately, the "any man looks at her body" part is a classic Wuxia trope...It was said by Mu Wanqing (from Tian Long Ba Bu) before. This drama is adapted from a 1970s Wuxia novel.
exactlyy and even then, he starts off saying stuff like thinking those loyalties or heroic sacrifices were idealistic…
Yes agreed, you've put it way better than me! If I was in XQS's shoes, I will also not be able to foresee that betrayal. At that moment he strongly believed in what he wrote, which was an oversight (but understandable). But his observation skills and reasoning abilities are quite good. His character is good too, with the way he treats the people around him and in the face of danger.
so far, the only thing i dont like in this drama is CY and his friends' flashy pastel colored costume. ahahaha…
Right!! I feel like they spent a lot of budget on costumes because there's so many different costumes and quite intricate too, but somehow, it's doesn't look that nice to me 😭
I've watched 10 episodes! At first, for like the four 2-3 episodes, I was getting quite bored, but the plot starts picking up after that. As a Wuxia fan, it's really quite a true Wuxia drama so far and also quite unique due to the added transmigation. For people newer to Wuxia, a lot of stuff might be confusing or don't make sense at all because it's typical Wuxia elements.
For acting wise, so far all the more important characters like Xiao Qiushui, Tang Fang, Liu Suifeng etc are actually quite good. Characters wise, I did not like TF's character at first but given her background, I kind of understand her. For XQS/XMM, actually, I get that some people might say he's kind of dumb, but imo, he's naive and believes in the brotherhood/friendship and the good of Wuxia. XMM is an avid Wuxia reader, and people who like reading Wuxia stories love the idea of adventure, friendship, justice, and doing good for others. That is why XQS is the way he is, he has not seen the cruel and "realistic" side of the world he is in now. Usually I quite dislike "dumb" characters, but I'm okay if it is not baseless and there'll be character development. And actually XQS is quite smart (if you remove his overly trusting side). It's evident in the latest few episodes.
For other stuff like costumes and cinematography etc, honestly, I'm not a fan of bright pastel-ish colours lol. And also some scenes' background look quite fake and ugly, but I can overlook it because for me, PLOT and characters are the most important. I'm a CY fan, but if there's no decent plot, I'll drop it.
Anyways, I'm looking forward to upcoming episodes!
I totally get what you said. Unfortunately, for Cheng Yi's case, it's far from it being normal viewers (especially when the drama just started airing). I'm Chinese, I'm on weibo and bilibili. There's a always huge smear campaign towards Cheng Yi. Every actor naturally has haters but he's probably the most hated male actor despite also having high popularity.
I actually have not rated the drama yet (but I'm enjoying all 10 eps so far so I might rate it), but just 12 hours ago, the ratings were at 8.2. For it to jump to 7.8 in 12 hours, maybe I'll give it a benefit of doubt?
Also, rn in China, on weibo, haters are picking out screenshots of Cheng Yi's hands and nails in the drama (it's a TRENDING topic), saying that he used nail polish and he's too girly...A lot of the reviews on this unfinished drama on bilibili are trending and targetting Cheng Yi's LOOKS and voice. I can sort of understand the voice part if they are talking about it being unclear sometimes, but targetting looks is what CY haters always do :').
Unfortunately, all this baseless hate indeed do come from other fandoms (especially on weibo). Constructive criticism is welcomed which I, myself, also have for this drama, but many are specifically targetting Cheng Yi and are just rating it for the sake of hating him (not the drama).
Ooooh, after many rewach that conversation still bothered me, thx for the clarification!
Yangzhouman is unique to LXY, he developed it himself which is why other can use this to identify LXY. This is also why LXY is revered as a prodigy and No. 1 in JiangHu. His Shifu and Shiniang's inner powers are different. I'm not sure if it's stated in the drama but more proof is that LXY developed Yangzhouman around when he founded Sigu Sect, which is way after he left his Shifu and Shiniang's mountain.
I'm finding it very hard to believe that someone who can act so well and with such brilliant insights into the…
Cheng Yi is an introvert and socially awkward and slow in social settings (something that I understand because I'm similar). However, I feel like the current Cheng Yi has been too affected by cyberbullying from years ago. I'm a new fan but I have heard that after Cheng Yi rose to fame from Love & Redemption, he and the other cast attended this conference (?) called 云歌会. During the conference, he was quite awkward with and didn't interact much with the female lead, which led to netizens condemning him, even saying that he ruined the drama for them. He lost a lot a lot of fans after that and gained tons of haters that spread lots of bad stuff about him online. I think this affected him very badly which caused him to be more fearful and anxious of live broadcasts/ conferences and variety shows (any social setting in public's eye).
Liu Suifeng did mention the face similarity in the earlier episodes, but he also said to himself that it's easy for people who truly know Li Chenzhou to differentiate between the two. Basically, they have two completely different auras/personalities so people don't automatically see one and then see the other in them.
