I don’t think his love for his teacher is the problem here, I think his teacher ‘love’ for him is the problem…
Perhaps we understand the definition of platonic love differently.

The most important feature of platonic love is the lack of sexual involvement - as reputable sources claim.
"People who share platonic love are not connected by a sexual bond."

https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/platonic-love
"intimate companionship or relationship, especially between two people, that is characterized by the lack of sexual involvement; spiritual affection"

To close the discussion - for me, this drama is still a beautiful love story that started with a crush when one of them was very young, but that the feeling endured and gained strength over the years - which proves that it was not a momentary whim - and they moved to another level when BOTH were adults.
So we stick to our opinions, best regards.

Thank you for your answer.
My point of view: Love is not a problem at all, it is a gift.
Their love relationship - if I remember correctly - was only platonic (I mean without sex), so what are we even talking about?

If that's how - you and others - judge such relationships, we can go further, I understand that you would like to curse millions of Asian delulu fans who love their idols ONLY platonically even though they would like it otherwise..
Do you see the stupidity of this assumption now (not only yours I mean at all?

Even minority human relationships are normal in their extreme percentage.
It is not the mainstream, but it occurs in nature, so it is also natural.. amen.

The drama was supposed to "put a stick in an anthill", i.e. stir our emotions and did it. I love J-dramas for that because they are not afraid to touch on controversial topics.. for me in Asia they are the bravest in this regard and kudos to them for that!

I support such dramas because they make you think, and if this couple, by creating a kind of obstacle course for their relationship, passed this test victoriously - then it is a true, deep feeling and I will always support such a feeling.
It is remind me like a whole lot of childhood loves that are physically realized at a later age, and it does not matter whether persons are the same age or how much older one is.
Greetings.

I like Japanese productions because they are juicy, bold and often take on difficult topics – something that other Asian countries rarely dare to do. And they can show intimacy in a very aesthetic and artistic way.

But I can no longer accept another dose of the image of culturally shackled/bound Japanese women, whose self-esteem is not even zero but in minus. Who are born with the word "sorry" on their lips: sorry that I am alive, sorry that I am a virgin, sorry that you love me and I have to refuse you..
It is impossible to take this anymore… brr..

FL and ML were not convincing to me, neither in what they said nor in what they did. The "love" of ML was artificial to me, but the stupidity and naivety of FL - cosmic.

That's his style in this drama
Not only his style aand not only in this drama. I see this in many cases of Chinese, Japanese and even Korean dramas. I can give many examples, (such as the recently watched Song Kang in My Demon).
It always looks caricatured and I don't understand why actors want to make themselves look so ugly.

This is the best sane comment on this topic that I've read in the entire MDL since I've been here. Thanks!

No, she isn't. Type this word into Google - you will find help there on Wikipedia for example. Greetings.
I'm not worried about your education in general because that's your business. But if HERE ON THE FORUM you write comments incorrectly using an aggressive term - then I'm simply showing you that you're abusing a given word (in other words - you don't know what you're writing about and you're spitting - like some toxic anti-fan).
That's all. Best regards.

PS To have an understanding of something - it's not necessary to have bad experiences with a given topic - as you tried to suggest. It's enough to have the appropriate education and be, for example, a court expert.
I'm closing our communication - thank you for your answers.
All the best.

Yes, but only one person per year - unless you break the contract then it might be faster.. :)
Yes, it was.
We were building our own company together and during that time it was forbidden to break the marriage contract.

And I like the number 13. :)
I bow and greet you.

It doesn't bother me at all, but I wanted to show you that you're confusing the terms - and using Google isn't much of an effort.
But I see that you'd rather pick on me than familiarize yourself with the definition and not embarrass yourself any further.
Is it possible that - for some reason - you're afraid to read this definition?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedophilia and many other examples - to understand the topic.
Regards.

I am full of admiration for the main actors.. Especially for ML, who was not even 20 when it was broadcast.
They need to be open and brave to play it and they were very credible.

Only one small technical error bothered me during their time together, but I don't want to write about it..

Ha ha ha.. in dreams-mind of "Korea" of course :)

Many years ago I entered into such a relationship, for a fixed term - 13 years. It was successful. And at the end there was a big Divorce Party. We still respect each other but we don't have frequent contact.

I would compare it to a couple dance. You dance with someone, the music and dance end, you thank each other, bow each other and move on..

What to say...the age gap in a love story could have been tolerable. But their relationship started as a pure…
I know you're not Japanese, but if you study a bit more contemporary Japanese approaches to sex, you can see for yourself that the film was realistic. And not just in Japan.
It's realistic even in my Catholic (still!) country, even if the Catholic Church considers masturbation a sin for example - Life and Reality don't care about it and outdated approaches are becoming obsolete.

What to say...the age gap in a love story could have been tolerable. But their relationship started as a pure…
First, there was a community of interests - films, cinema and a fascination with a specific director.
Later, there were the teenager's raging hormones and her natural approach to this topic in the case of a shy and withdrawn boy. If her reaction had been hysterical and judgmental - the boy could have had sexual inhibitions and problems with contacts with women, which could have ended in crimes (history knows many such cases).
Because they knew each other, felt something for each other, wanted to help each other - and it was what happend. In the process, they both opened up, came out of their shells and the teenager will not have a trauma for the rest of his life.

Uff and you're still with your "pedophilia".. ☹ maybe you could correct this comment, because as you yourself admitted above (in another comment) - you got the definition wrong..
Thank you in advance.

One of my favorites ever I keep watching it over and over. Definitely you should throw any moral compass when…
"(..) as their lives get screwed by their relationship at one point." - can you clarify what you mean? Thank you.

I think it was quite amazing how they tried to tell us the relationship between the two main leads was terrible,…
Apart from the series... people who were addicted to their partner know how hard it is to leave. It's like successfully overcoming an addiction (whether it's cigarettes, alcohol or drugs or.. partner..) - not everyone can.
Sometimes betrayal is a strong enough and necessary incentive to deal with leaving such a relationship.
We know this from life and this series shows it too. And praise the series for that.

Maybe it's sick to you but according to the definition (google - wikipedia, etc) it's not pedophile behavior,…
Ok, of course it's not mainstream but it happens.
And as Terence used to say 2 thousand years ago - "I am a human being and nothing human is alien to me".
Whether it's Asia or Europe - I can list many such cases and those that last for years - being a beautiful love story and started when one person of the couple was a teenager.
Examples:
Europe - there is probably no more expressive example in the world that the current President of France and his wife (his former teacher) show us,
Asia - a beautiful love story that I recently came across - Taiwanese idol Jam Hsiao and his wife (his manager for 20 years).
Not all such relationships have to last for years beautifully, sometimes they can help enter adulthood or get out of other, toxic relationships.
And it's not so strange at all. I personally was in a similar - reversed - situation.

The world would be happier if there was more acceptance and less judgment.
