im curious if ikou does create some last minute drama or if its just editing also what does he do to piss everyone…
Ikou seems unlikely to be an intentionally problematic person, he’s just too silly and too new to the group. My guess is he was probably joking around with the group or with Shun and teasingly spilled a few things that Dai has said to him. For instance when Dai (on the day of the picnic) told Ikuo that he was the one that most resembled his ex-partner. I could honestly see Ikou innocently teasing Shun about it, and then adding a totally unserious blurb after, like “so he must find me handsome” or “so I might have a chance.” Poor guy, let’s pray he comes out unscathed. 😂
The comedic writing in this series is everything. We have a ML that’s supposed to be over a century old, sarcastically being referred to as “Boomer” while being subjected to repeated ageism comments by generations of his own family. 🤣💀It’s just so wildly funny because they’re all brilliant when they burn him, this cast is hysterical, I just love all their scenes. And Wee’s grandma’s sense of humor is so damn dry and cool that she could do a standup open mic night from her hospital bed and make enough money for her treatments. While I love the dramatic storyline and the overall plot of the leads (and their acting is far superior to their previous works,) it’s the comedy that has me living for each episode. This is seriously going on my immediate rewatch list, I swear I’d never get tired of watching it.
Sigh. I’m exhausted, these guys are all so great but I’m as emotionally drained as they are. Glad everything has been sorted now, for the most part. Shout out to Hwi, for once again being the mature, calming force in that house. He’s the type of person that will strive and succeed as an asset in any relationship he’ll ever form, whether romantic, platonic or professional. Just an all around stellar personality. And watching our youngest participant with his megawatt smile and his adorable dance moves fall into an emotional pit of jumbled nerves on the last night had me gutted and bawling along with him. This season will definitely be remembered for these two couch/floor potatoes and their incredible kindness and endearing friendship. They need to produce their own adventure vlog together, (doing indoor activities though, because they both hate outdoor ones.) 😂💀❤️ I’d be totally hooked.
love these reality TV "manipulation" theories🤭 however wasn't his birthday in the first batch of episodes?…
I’ve discovered that the world is probably better off without my amateur investigative work, but in self reflection, I clearly could have had some success as a circus 🤡. Thanks for the emotional support though. 🫶
During an interview that Dai has with production while alone in his room in Episode 2, there’s a large bouquet of flowers with a card attached and also a black gift box sitting beside the bouquet, all of it sitting out on top of his desk. Looks like the gift box is similar to a few bracelet boxes that we have here at home. Can we assume that this interview occurred post filming or perhaps during the last few days, and maybe that segment was edited into the 2nd episode, which accidentally gave away a spoiler? 🤔❤️ Okay, I’m taking my detective badge off now and handing it over to someone else. 😂💀
The way I tried to zoom in on the lotion at the top of the bed. I mean it must be there just for product placement, right? 😜 Imagine the sales increase. 😂😭
Kazuto cooking like the talented king he is, but then walking straight into that glass door was pretty much the funniest thing that I’ve watched in a dating show. I mean the man was either blinded by all the BBQ smoke or blinded by love. Pick one. 🤣💀❤️
I don’t think anyone is a villain at all, in fact my last sentence literally says that I love all of them. 🤷🏻♀️ Just pointing out the irony that Hwi was taken off Jaeseung’s potential list based off his age, but he’s no less mature than most of the others. I’d never guess that he was one of the youngest, which also seemed to be the participants consensus when the ages were finally disclosed, most of them were surprised. My guess is their surprised reaction was because he acts so mature (proving the point that age is not always a determination of maturity. ) I personally love the age gaps on the show because it’s reflective of real life in adult dating circles, you just never know who you’ll meet and emotionally connect with. So no villain labels were ever applied or implied, I think they're all great.
Jaeseung seriously rejecting Hwi after finding out his age and implying that he’s too young, negatively calling him a “kid” while talking poorly about him. Meanwhile: Hwi has consistently acted with a calm maturity that a few of them lack in previous episodes. He is this seasons stand out, despite his age. ❤️
Youngjoon really created the lions share of the tension with Myeongyun. He didn’t deny that they were dating, and admits he basically ghosted a young man that was in his very first relationship. How emotionally damaging that could be to someone just dating, maybe he could have explained what he felt was missing between them instead of just disappearing. At least there would be some closure. All credit to Myeongyun, no wonder he came across as indifferent while snacking on his ice cream, it was probably a self defense mechanism. The man came to search for a future partner and instead gets faced with his painful past. 😭 Glad they talked it out and tried to resolve it, both of them learning something in the process. I love all the participants, but this season has me biting my nails. 💀
Dai at the start of an episode, running up to hug Shun who’s laying prone on the couch. Dai seriously looking like he’s ready to lock lips and perform CPR on the “prissy possum” that’s playing dead, even laying his head down on Shun’s chest to snuggle up to his heartbeat. 🤣😭 The only red flag that I’ll ever see Dai waving is the one from the Red Cross, cause this man is a true rescuer and hero. So glad to see another person enter the arena and battle for his attention, even for a few hours. Just long enough to get Shun’s brain cells triggered and pull his heart out of its intermission.
I think the tension between Youngjoon and Myeonkyun can’t be compared to someone that occasionally runs into…
They’ve used so many different terms to describe their past since the show started that I’m not sure either can fully agree what they actually were, I think four terms were used. The only thing that’s clear is both of them had feelings for one another but ended contact in the midst. Certainly awkward, If I were either, I wouldn’t want to share a room with someone who made me feel uncomfortable or antagonistic. And I certainly wouldn’t want to share a bed and have them sleep inches away from me. 💀.
As much as I like the individuals I am really done with the secret missions. I would like more outside group activities/dates…
I think the tension between Youngjoon and Myeonkyun can’t be compared to someone that occasionally runs into an ex and feels awkward but quickly goes about their business. It stems from unexpectedly living with an ex while also trying to navigate a potential new relationship/friendship with someone else while residing together in a shared house 24/7, all under the watch of cameras. It must be nearly unbearable to live like that with someone that you didn’t end things well with, and then be expected to share a room together, share meals together while in a group, plaster on a smile when participating in activities and then watch them form friendships or relationships with the very same people you’re also getting to know. Had either of them known that the other had been cast for the same season, I’m sure this would have been far less painful for all involved, it seems really unfair to them both. All this said, I agree with you wholeheartedly about the secret missions. They’ve accomplished nothing by offering them to the participants, and in some cases it’s really taken a mental toll on the recipient, which only adds unnecessary anxiety to the whole group.
As the mum of a “20 Something” son that was ghosted by his partner, I feel so conflicted. I watched episode 8 thinking back to those days, how my son first didn’t think much of the radio silence, he initially made excuses that the other person was likely busy. Then those first few days turned into a few weeks, and I watched him fall to pieces. Not really eating, crying in my arms, just slugging through his work day, so depressed and confused. And then the weeks turned to months and he’d try to send out a neutral text just to see if the person was okay, still no reply. And then the months gradually turned into a few years. I know for a fact that if he had the chance to see that person again, even for a moment, he’d likely have the same loving eyes that MyeongKyun has when he looks at Youngjoon, and he’d probably have the same anxiety and demeanor. While none of us watching the show really knows what happened between the two of them that would make Youngjoon feel he had no other choice but to ghost him, clearly this is a situation that neither expected, and I feel honestly terrible that they’re navigating it while living in the same house. The heartache I’d feel as a parent of either of them, watching it all unfold on an international platform, it would just be brutal. I hope in the next episodes we get to see them offer a bit of understanding to each other, even if we don’t get the details. To me, I’d rather not know any of it and just let them find happiness in their forgiveness.
Frankly , Shun deverse the world the fact he wants to get married be a fosterf father for someone is so wholesome…
I watched the released episodes with my gay uncle and his husband (married since 2005,) and the entertainment the show provided had us all feeling a bit love drunk. We laughed and smiled so much that we had happy tears rolling, then of course Shun’s background history was revealed and we all got quiet. To relieve the heartache, both of them jokingly admitted that if they were only 20 years younger, they’d probably fight each other for Shun if they could, I think one of them was half serious because he was on the receiving end of some really bad side-eye. 💀
Loving this dating series, the only complaint that I have is that the scene edits are a bit fast and choppy sometimes. One minute I’m fully invested in watching their couch conversations and then the next second I’m thrown into a group game at the beach or a scene of someone driving the coffee truck around, and I have no idea how I even got there, (I must have blinked a millisecond too long.) 💀 😂 The participants are all wonderful, though I’m anticipating more drama because a few of them seem more competitive or forward than the others. Like everyone else watching, I’d prefer Shun to be adorned in bubble wrap and placed in the most protected, loving environment possible. He’s just too precious for this world and deserves a stable, focused partner who is comfortable with giving him affirmation. Hoping he gets the dream future that he longs for.
It was a social dating experiment that was partially scripted, in the sense that they each had to follow the one rule that was written in each of their diaries for that particular date. But they said that everything else that they did or said to one another surrounding their time on their dates was real and they are still together as a couple, (which is amazing because it’s been quite a few years now.) So happy that you enjoyed watching. 😊
Here’s a special episode (released about a month ago,) they make an appearance in it at the halfway point. They give off the same silly vibe that they initially had during filming of the dating show, but I’m not really sure if they’re actually dating, the verdict is out for me. 🤔 They are definitely cute in the clip together though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9Jxrys1yyQ
The four couples are as follows, but as with all “reality” dating programs, whether they are REAL couples after the show ends is always a guess.
Jang Jun Lin/‘Kelvin’ (41) and Li Mengdie/‘Da Meng’ (30) They are reportedly still together after broadcast and they also feature in special episodes, she joins the original program during episode 3. It seems as though in addition to being featured in the special episodes, this couple also has their own vlog. I’ve only seen a few short clips from it in which they still seem very, very happy.
Ma Jin Long/‘Eddie’ (28) and Ling Yi/‘Ashley’ (30) They are also reportedly still together after broadcast and they also appear in some of the special episodes. Both are very sweet and they form a liking to one another fairly quickly during the dating series itself.
Wang Zhen (35) and Chen Qiao Wei/‘Pamela’ (33) There is a rumor that she may have posted something on Weibo indicating that they are just friends after filming, but they do appear together in a few of the special episodes that were filmed after the initial dating show broadcast. (They didn’t feature in the very first few specials that were released, but they did later appear in at least one that I’ve watched, I think it was from about a month ago.) In that special, they go ‘glamping’ outdoors together during the day. There were reports from fans that they were also seen together visiting a zoo in Shanghai recently, though it quite possible that they’ve decided to just hang out as friends at this point.
Yu Jing Yang/‘Yang Yang’ (29) and Su Rui/‘SuSu’ (31). He joins the show in later episodes, but they also appear a few times in the special episodes that were filmed after broadcast. To my knowledge they do not really define themselves as being in a relationship on the show or in the specials, rather they are still getting to know one another and enjoy each others company. I’m unsure if their status has changed in any way.
