God, we just happened to be blessed with the 2 ex husbands today. I taught they were switching out.
I absolutely loved the little dates the leads went on. With his in house party and his restaurant party. Things of joy to behold. How she's just fit in right as his side as a trusted manager and they're conversing like partners.
Shengyi and FL's ex are like too sides of a coin. One is always thinking the worse of herself and feeling bad like she has nothing to offer (which I think is very inline with a poor female of that time period) and the other is so narcissistic with his ridiculously high pride. Both with terrible victim mentality. Like when Chun explained that she doesn't use incense cause it interferes with her work, she was all about how she refused her sincerity

I kind of like that FL was mean and dismissive for no reason when he started working with her. I also won't want to work with someone who deems and sees my profession as dishonourable. His apology before she brought it up again was a bit shallow. But she should have made her reservations clearer earlier. Everyone just suffered cause of her pride (well justified pride sure).
And with his daughter, she was just being an adult to the girl. I didn't expect it to say for adults

The delusional ex husband gets sillier every episode.
How does he think keeping her in a private mansion will make her safe? Or how he allowed his father to gaslight him that they only tried to kill her cause he contacted her. When his parents didn't even know he had been in touch with her.
The dude is such a big idiot. Yes he owes his parents for making them get demoted, also because he didn't apply wisdom. And same thing now. No wisdom engaged in any of his actions.
At least we see our main couple getting into couple mode.
Hopefully this brother part will draw them closer rather than create a rift

Just got around to starting this, and Ep 1 really shows why we shouldn't just take shit lying down. No matter what.
From the boss's comment about his daughter not being special, ML should have known the guy was an ass.
Once he started bullying him excessively, she should have been coming up with plan B and C. I don't know what he could have done especially since this is HR, but the betrayal was coming. Assholes don't mind what they damage for their petty egos. Which is always so sad to watch

She finally showed her true self in the latter days of their marriage. I think he somehow envies her wanting independence…
True. Morally grey villains exist. not just morally grey heroes

I love the scene at the beginning of episode 14 where those 3 flower guild jerks praise their young daughters…
Truthfully that just seemed like basic ruthless business man behaviour.
They seem like people who would have given a man shit too, just because they have a little power.
They'd hate to see a grass to grace story.
The deputy was the one with a dirty mouth trying to shame them and talking about gender. But he just sounded like a typical bully from the room.
I do feel the FL's negotiation skills and her general cunning personality would have been able to get her out of that meeting successfully, but Fu stirred up her temper too much, and I guess the writers need a little drama.
Shenyi was the voice of wisdom in this episode, despite how cautious she is.

Yeah, they have the same vibe.
That guy kept going on and on about how he had no choice.
And I wish the writers for dream in splendor would have made him a puppet and let him not have a choice. But no, they turned him chaotic and the actual villain in the show.
I do feel like this guy's mental limit is coming close. But it would be nice to see if the writers can give this guy a 180.
I won't mind a redemption arc for this guy. As long as he keeps his distance from FL and maybe becomes poor. He might be a better person if he was poor.

;-pDream of Splendor notes too .. Watched that?
Oh, alright. Glad we're on the same page about revenge.
And yeah, this drama is going amazing for me. And I love L&P, definitely one of my top college/Modern dramas. But "Are you the one" moved me similar to this one. Slightly different genres and different tension levels, but the leads chemistry... Good vibes. Feel good dramas are the best

Yeah I agree with you.
But I don't think FP has the makings for a great revenge drama. Let karma just serve all our antagonist.
To be honest revenge dramas aren't my thing, the only one out of the list I loved was The Double. LLTG of course is a masterpiece, but the leads went through too much trauma for the ending to be satisfying. I feel like in the process of trying to get revenge, we leave characters who end up less than a shell of who they started out as. And I just don't want our FL to be more broken than this. But I do love grey characters. I'm all for that, especially as I think I real life, successful people have to be more grey than anything

I wish Mudan didn't let Fu act out in front of the gulid.
She shouldn't even have carried her along or should have cautioned her greater.
I know they were unreasonable, but these are people who are known for being unreasonable.
It would have been smarter to ignore the deputy head who's just out to antagonise them and focus on whining that gulid head.
She's a good speaker and a good debater. Very good with her words. Should have focused on negotiating a little more and they might have gotten a satisfactory result with less stress.
But a drama needs tension, so sure. Let's vex the gulid and try to solve the problem

The problem with dream of splendor is, they kind of cause their own problems. And it had a terrible ending in my opinion.
I do see the similarities with the sisterhood stuff, but I hope that's the limit of the similarities Too much focus on revenge and getting justice. Sometimes, take your life in your hands and run. Living well is the best way to pay back for loss. Like Mudan did when she found out how scummish her in-laws were. She didn't fixate on revenge for her mother or Her dowery

What happened? Please don't scare me. I want to know if any of them die later on, so that I can detach my heart from the person. I hate getting emotionally attached and then they kill a character. It crushes me. So please so mercy and let me know

Honestly, you spoke the words of my heart.
The dude is exhausting and irritating to me with these his baseless ideals.
There are other ways to get his father in law see his value, and him feeling all bad and victimised isn't going to help at all.
He has a stupid sense of superiority and self righteousness. Makes his scenes exhausting to watch sometimes.
Why shouldn't his father in law just think of him as a male escort? He did compromise the princess while still married and suddenly his wife mysteriously died after embarrassing him with a mutual divorce demand.
Anyone who hears about his story will assume he's a bum who's coasting on the princess.
I wish he was even a little competent. But he hasn't accomplished 1 thing, despite reading since he was 4 years old
Gives the vibe of a villain who will blame everyone for his downfall while he tried and fails to execute a grand evil plan.

Sometimes I'm tempted to feel bad for SML, the ex husband. Cause he actually wanted to get things by his effort and now he's been backed into a corner due to his weak character.
But you can't even blame people for dismissing his intentions of being an official with integrity.
From everyone's perspective, he basically scammed his way into getting married to the country princess (no one would believe that he didn't want that) after all, he has everything to gain and she's seriously lowering herself to get with him.
That's why his boss, colleagues and father in law treat him as a simp who their just humoring.
They can't respect a man who literally destroyed reputation and got rid of a wife for connection to a prince.
He just doesn't see himself that way cause he lacks self awareness so it's always coming as a shock to him when people treat him like a boy toy who can't think.
Cause if you could think and are as intelligent as he believed himself to be, you won't need to con your way to big connections

I really want to continue watching it but after ep5 I can't stand the FL being tortured more or less in every…
It's so nice to see people being outraged about FL's experience in this drama. Especially since I didn't think what she went through was so bad (asides from the attempted murder, but even the FL wasn't too surprised that they resorted so low. It suits the cultural cutthroat perspective of that time period).
But I guess this just shows how jaded I'm becoming from all these cdramas.
Honestly, by cdrama standards, this is tame. Even among recent dramas from last year. And recent dramas are definitely more tame compared to years ago.
But by humanity standard, she's actually going through a lot.
I want my standard for suffering to reduce. So that I can be appalled by things like this too.

We legit just got the best addition to our team. And from You are my lover friend. She's such a memorable actress
It was a lovely episode again and Mudan proved to be a strong FL and could stand on her own. But why didn't they mention Lady Qin's ex husband having a grudge against them earlier.
The losses would have been less, and even not as much bad pr.
Anyway, at least they finally opened their mouth.
That man is the worse type of ex husband. The worse type of people are those who do harm just because they can.
Like he can very well just marry another woman and leave this one. No, he just has to be very vindictive..

I’m on ep5. Does Mudan ever get back her dowry?
Exactly, and that princess's is one accident away from full crazy.
I wish they'll make her a bit more stable and an ally (unlikely, but I I can wish)

To be fair, they were threatening his son's future.
And her father kept saying he doesn't believe she'll act so out of character. And he seemed more like one who would head her out. But she made the decision for him.

Asshole ex husbands will never go away. They're the last to die. The one that can still talk through an entire…
Exactly what I'm praying doesn't happen. I'd really hate this weird status quo to carry on through our the drama.
If they want to keep Miles around longer, they should make him completely give up on reconciling with the FL. That notion is ridiculously crazy.
I won't mind watching him try to be righteous with a wife like his finance and a father in law like his.
