XD thanks for the reply. Actually I sucked it up and dealt with the yelling. There were parts I enjoyed even in the beginning so I thought I should fight through it.

But it was hard tbh. It’s hard to like a show in which all the characters hate each other so much XD

Anyway, I made it through and I did enjoy it. It’s not my fave medical drama but I do like it.

Yeah I have this issue as well XD I don’t hate this show, and I’m not trying to rant about how bad it is to romanticise Gu Hais’ behaviour, I just wanted to point out that watching this show again really highlighted the problematic parts for me. I still watched the whole show though, and I agree with you that it’s so very well made, the acting from the leads is phenomenal, the simple set design, the script, the cinematography even, everything about it is great.

Look tbh, I think you should rate based on all these things. Yes it has problematic contents, but it is still a good show. I rated it an 8.5 and I stick by that.

But, I also think it’s a personal thing, if you think it deserves a lower rating because of the issues in it, then you should rate it lower.

If you think this show is romanticising rape, stalking and perpetuating the idea that men can’t be sexually assaulted, there’s a better way to do something about it then come to mydramalist and complain in the comments. Your helping exactly zero ppl by doing that. The only thing you are doing, is making yourself feel better and giving yourself the false feeling of being morally better than anyone who enjoys this show.

XD the fact that your a woman means nothing. Woman can rape men too, and the can rape other women. Sorry I agree with you about the show, I don’t think it was rape either. I just don’t understand your ‘I’m a woman’ comment. Do you think women can’t rape ppl? Pls don’t get angry I am genuinely just interested.

I didn’t really notice the first time I watched this (I guess I was younger) but man Gu Hai does some pretty fucked up shit. I mean the kidnapping etc is bad, but I almost think what he does in the beginning is worse.

It’s obvious that he starts to like Luo Yin pretty early, it basically the reason why he starts being so nice to him. And he KNOWS he likes him. But he pretends it’s just friendship. I mean he does a whole bunch of shit under the pretence of ‘we’re just guys’.
He tries to get Lou Yin to shower with him.
He pretends he’s drunk and pulls him into his bed.
He’s constantly feeling him up.
Then there’s the scene where he tries to make him jerk off.
It’s a lot man... this show isn’t as cute the second time around tbh. I’m just constantly feeling a bit gross.

I mean I like it, androgyny is hot, but why do I feel like she would hate it?

This is off subject but I read a short story the other day, it wasn’t super short more like 10 chapters. And in it there was a scene where a rape was depicted and I kid you not I was so not into this scene because it was just painful. I’ve read a lot of stuff like that, I don’t mind problematic content so much (up to a point) I definitely think it’s a problem, but that problem depends on the person reading it and the way they interpret it.

Anyway XD this scene was messed up, I don’t even want to explain it. The whole 10 chapters was the one scene. But the ending, the ending, I don’t know if it was amazing or what... at the end one of the characters suddenly screams out ‘starfish’ and the whole scene changes to a couple role playing, you know starfish is the safe word. And that was the end.

I thought to myself the person writing this is a genius, I’ve never read a bl where the author was intelligent enough to turn a horrible rape scene into two consenting adults.

XD I’m sorry if my story bored you, there’s just so much gray content in BL these days... when I read something good it tends to stick....

I have a thing for dramas where the main couple meet again after years. I think it’s because if I didn’t see someone I’d loved for 5 years I would literally not even remember their name let alone be upset that they left me with no explanation. But XD I’ve had several relationships fail because I’ve been told that I am cold and not affectionate. Selfish was mentioned a lot to. There was also the rare case of ‘your a fucking psychopath do you even feel anything?”

And look I’m far from being a psychopath, I just don’t feel emotions AS STRONGLY as other ppl. I am definitely cold and calculating, if I love someone I never really bother to show it, and the feeling itself is more like attachment rather than love.

Anyway XD so I actually really enjoy watching people having these strong, unreasonable feelings for each other. It’s like second hand smoke, I’ll never actually get to feel the kick of taking a drag, or feeling that kind of love, but there’s enough satisfaction from knowing that other people are feeling it.

The part I enjoy the most is the fact that it’s in an office. Seeing a couple acting like that at a workplace is a movie myth, and it’s the only one I enjoy tbh. No one does shit like that at work. I’ve dated ppl at my workplace and we’d barely fucking see each other during the day XD. Coz we were, you know, working... I mean even if we’d been working in the same fucking room we wouldn’t even look at each other. You get fired for doing shit like that at work in the real world XD .

Ugh I was so into this at the start. Then at some point I realised it was just going to be another cliched ‘all your dreams come true if you just really fucking want it’ drama.

Does anyone know of any existing drama that actually portrays the idol scene accurately? I mean that’s something I wanna fucking see >< not this super predictable shit. I wanna see ppl fucking fail even if they want it the fucking most.

You’re spot on, it’s just painful for me tbh. Like I could deal with trapped because at least the acting was decent even if I didn’t like parts of it, and MODC too. I mean the acting in MODC was great and at the very least the main couple had no problematic scenes.

Tbh I’m really, really heartbroken over this. I waited for 5 weeks to start watching so I had a bunch of episodes to binge, and I could barely get through the first episode...

It makes little sense that they paid to rent the school auditorium but weren’t allowed to use it for their showcase? Like they paid for it, they can literally do anything they fucking want with it as long as it’s not illegal. It makes even less sense that the principal would want to get rid of them after Mr.Jung left and after they started doing better than the normal students in the school. I mean what’s the point? If you have a valid reason you can think of, please please please tell me? Coz it’s just so confusing to me when I watch this show.

I got it at first, he wanted to discredit Mr.Jung and make sure these random students he chose wouldn’t bring down the prestige of the school. But afterwards, there’s literally no reason except he’s just meant to be the big villain in the show.

Like... a villain with no possible motivation is just a psychopath and this isn’t a murder/serial killer oriented show, far from it, yet they choose to portray the villain like this. I just do not get it...

Ok last thing, I get it’s just a drama, but the fact that the debut class is mixed female and male is weird too. I get they need them together for the romance, but like it would have been easy enough to keep their interactions but have them be in same sex groups. I mean how many mixed idol groups can you name?

I really don’t like awards tbh they in no way showcase any real talent an actor might have, but I love Yoon Su and he was so amazing in Extracurricular I can’t help but hope he wins best new actor.

The secondary couple in this is actually great kinda almost better than the main XD and yes it’s worth watching. I complain about a lot of stuff in dramas but this one is pretty good. The support cast are great.

I’m sorry XD but that last one wasn’t hard at all, you can tell their guys from miles away XD just because a male happens to be pretty doesn’t mean it’s not obvious their male

Also I agree with the ppl a few comments below. This kind of trope is a cop out. And it’s a terrible way of portraying gay ppl. The worst part is that the actual guy is usually relieved to find out it’s a girl and that he’s not actually REALLY gay. And if you think the line ‘I don’t care if your a guy or an alien’ is cute or funny you probably don’t have a good sense of judgement tbh. This trope or genre really because it is more of a genre than a trope, is actually in no way progressing the acceptance of non hetero sexualities at all.

Yeah like I said I don’t either and I don’t really care if they don’t, I guess I just have a thing for this webtoon so the adaption is getting to me XD

I think the show is terrible XD sorry it just sounded like you thought that nobody else has issues with these kind of plotlines in Bls when most of us do, but I misunderstood ^^

It’s bad. Everything about it is bad. I’m sorry if your into it, but nothing about it is in any way good.
The cinematography is just gross, it’s like watching a cheap day time soap opera. The sets, the costumes, are even worse. Everyone looks like they’re dressed in knock off back alley market clothes. The script and dialogue is the worst thing about it. Their lines make me cringe, the humour falls so flat I can’t imagine why anyone would think it’s cute or funny.

And, look I’m sorry, I know their cute but the acting is atrocious >_<
