BYS fell for a woman with red flags, unsurprisingly got betrayed by her (again), and decided to go after her whole…
I can see why he'd react like that, but honestly..reap what you sow. He was shown repeatedly what kind of person she is and he'd hug her in the same breathe she'd betray him. Willingly get in bed with a viper and then go on a rampage when that same viper bites you. That's on him and now he's taking it out on an entire family with the purpose of..revenge? Unclear. From the way he speaks to Yunshu, it's almost like he's expecting that if he strips her of the family name and corners her, she'll willingly come to him. Which makes him exactly the same as every other scheming person of the Rong family.
Plus, as you mentioned, RSB has been nothing but good to him, but of course he lumps her in with the rest and specifically targets her.
I'm sure one or the other, or both, will have a redemption arc because this is a c-drama and I am decidedly not looking forward to that. Sometimes, being bad and doing bad deeds comes with consequences that aren't wiped clean by a tear and a reformed outlook. Or so it should be. Just my 2 cents though.
idk maybe my mind is too asian to accept the sleeping with someone after just two days of meeting. and also the…
Not that weird to me. The way I see it, while her mother was alive, she lived with tremendous guilt eating her up. Her only outlet for that shame and guilt was bickering with her mother and, in a way, making her the villain too - the way she feels that she herself is, because of the accident.
All of a suddenly her mom dies before anything can be solved between the two and, parallel to that, there's this man that's shown up in her life that's sweet, brings levity and lightness, is humorous, very interested in her and attractive. Her guilt is even worse now, obviously, and she's even more depressed and he's just a beacon of light in the darkness.
Plus, they're a man and a woman - don't they refer to her as 아줌마 in later episodes? - sleeping with eo after mutual attraction & interest have been established isn't that outside of the realm of possibility.
As for falling in love, her friends keep alluding to her finding reasons to end relationships or not start them to begin with, but we only see that horribly failed dinner date and her own words about love & dating - she seems to be an unreliable narrator. In that she can barely admit things to herself, much less say them out loud to her work friend or whoever. I think the male lead being who he is sort of..sneaked up on her.
Anyways, that's just my interpretation of what we've seen so far. I love the show so much. I think this is how you do a show about unlikable characters well.
Not calling the ML, it's calling the captain which is happen to be ML in this case. And the lesson is for her…
I understood the point, I just didn't like how it was handled. To be fair, I didn't like much about the drama overall, that was just the point I sort of dropped it at because I was done. Is what it is.
I think the director tried to show that ZX is a genuinely good man with everyone other than NXG and that’s why…
Now that you mention it, there's some parallels between ML and SML and their relationship with XieGuang, that's right. I don't know if they're trying to show that LYS is just a better human, but definitely trying to show that he's just that much more honest and confident about his feelings.
ZH was already interested in XG when all those misunderstandings happened, but because he was an insecure lil emo, he couldn't move past, whereas LYS tried everything and the kitchen sink to explain (what he thought) was XG's behavior post-accident and, because he saw all her good qualities, made a conscious decision to still pursue her openly.
Because she doesn’t like the SML “changing” and having feelings for the FL, not herself.
In many ways, she's exactly like the SML. Both feeling threatened because XieGuang is rich, both suffering from an inferiority complex and a victim mentality. Yeah, she's much more vocal and mean girl about it while SML went the shaming route to deal with his insecurities. So when you think about it..they'd make the perfect couple lol. Too bad the writers introduced SML's coworker.
Ah, forgot how they're both threatened by XieGuang's boyfriend :)). That dig about choosing the right boss then staring daggers at FL echoed, in my eyes, the comment that SML made at the beginning about XieGuang "leeching" off of her parents.
God forbid the FL protects herself when she's cornered and pinned down by one hand without specifically calling the ML to help. Bad FL, bad. Stand outside to eat or prostrate to the ML to be forgiven for such a transgression. This show, man..
isn't this show also very similar? the difference is just she has a job. she does not spend time with anyone else…
Yeah, I agree. I'm enjoying the crime and mystery vibes, but the idea that you're accused of murder one day and your lawyer is caressing your sleeping face and crying because you have an ex, all the while having taken the case because she "knows" you didn't do it because she's such a hardcore fan is..hard to get past lol.
LE: Maybe this should be under a spoiler tag as it spoils latest episode + preview for the next one. So maybe her being pissy over him having an ex is still alleged at this point, but still. Rest stands. :D
Okay can someone tell me how is this so far can you please tell me what you like and dislike. Is it like every…
I love the character writing, to begin with.
He's got a miniscule mean streak (due to some easily explained circumstances), after which his true colors are shown: he's kind, compassionate, forward, honest, funny, thoughtful.
Likewise, she's great. Is an adult, actually acts like an adult. Has a backbone, stands up for herself, draws boundaries, etc.
Their dynamic is also one you don't see in that many romance cdramas; the relationship is a mature one, no giggling 11yo's in the body of a 20 something year old, no childishness, no petulance that must come across as cute, no pettiness. They're laid back, chill and communicative.
There's nothing I actively dislike so far. There's some cliches, of course, what would the show be without them, but I think it works in favor of the show exactly because the two leads respond satisfyingly to them: like the FL standing up to random mean girl side character, or the ML being completely unbothered by assh*le SML because he understands dude's in the rearview mirror.
See, I feel like every time Peach bursts out laughing or snorting, that's just Phuwin unable to contain himself anymore on set. This has been hilarious so far; my absolute favorite is how they have different BGM lol, with Thee having this super dramatic, intense music and Peach is just like..zen elevator music.
LE: Just finished the latest ep and I can't. Est as Mok is doing so much, his judgey looks are pricelessssss.
Episode 3 did something I wasn’t prepared for. Fair warning: this is another long one. There’s this scene where…
So I've been following your reviews for a while now and I love them, but can I just say how friggin adorable it is to see you switch gears and just geek out over Pheem? Your reviews are always so well written, eloquent, sophisticated in language and so on..and then I read the comments below and that put an even bigger smile on my face.
So wait, wait..is my boy over here making a serial killer scrapbook and plotting to bring on the apocalypse because…
I understand that this is supposed to be dark romance, due to the themes, but....this is hilarious, the best comedy I've ever seen. MC has like..one ex and one brother and zero friends and our ML is stewing thinking "WhY aRe tHeRe sO mNnY pEoPle aRoUnD hIm?!?!" Please. :)))
yeah i thought the show masterfully shown the insedious ways violence shows up. after i real your comment i feel…
Oh, I just KNOW that FL was right in saying if he knew about the house, he'd blackmail her with it and want to keep it for himself. Just you wait, that plotline's coming, I'm willing to bet my left pinky
