i ended up dropping the novel bc i didn't like the ML but i'm loving the drama version of xiao jue <3
i was confused at the beginning bc he yan wasn't reborn then i remembered they aren't allowed to have those plots on tv broadcast so i wasn't mad at the Deus ex Shifu plot device. i dont think we need to see her so pitiful and waste time on her evil husband especially as there's so much else to show.
apparently they cut quite bit from the earlier eps bc the actor who originally played cheng lisu got cancelled and they had to Face/Off him so it was a bit choppy but it got better (or sweeter lol) so i didn't care
I wanna ask something, is the double worth it!?? It's been on my list for soo long but haven't been able to pick…
yeah it was a striking first ep but overall i couldn't really get into it.
i think the hype had me expecting a different kind of drama - clever reborn FL who slaps faces and gets revenge - when i think they were trying to portray more 'realistic' constraints on the leads power and ability to affect change in their circumstances
i didn't really care about the overarching palace plot and the romance wasn't doing it for me so it was difficult to get immersed in. ML looked great with grey hair though, more grey-haired MLs pls!
The Double had me hooked from the start and i binged like 25 eps like a fiend haha. The leads have great chemistry even if romance isn't the main focus
She could have done that. After she was "reborn" she could have just left but she chose the revenge arc...…
i think her main motivation was to redeem the name of General Xiao who had been so important in her life, a father figure who gave her the recognition her own never gave her. its a kind-heartedness in accordance to the male-centric military life she grew up in

i felt the same way about Blossom, i enjoyed the Double though. its very much a revenge drama so if you're looking for a romance-focused story it might not be so enjoyable. do watch the special ep too ;)
Song Yiting's love sub-plot doesn't really make sense. Could be written off as script diversion maybe or one of…
for the 'iconic scene' in the script to work she needs to fall in love with the FLs man and be caught with him
so it kinda makes sense that in this timeline/version of the script that since Song yimeng loves Li Shi liu that she would also fall for him
she was super arrogant and entitled from the start with "li shiliu" and didnt even notice when he was switched out for nan heng so i take it that she has fallen in love with the idea of the chivalrous and righteous jianghu hero - rather any true feelings for the man behind the mask - and sees him as a way to escape her fate of being married to someone she doesn't like for political power
Oh so CGH's idea of taking someone for interrogation is to torture them? This guy still sees himself as the paragon…
i think we're seeing his pivot to the main bad guy since nan heng is actually a good guy and this is a drama world with set rules and roles to be filled
when he finds out he has wronged nan heng over and over again he will realise what he has become
wow the 2ML actor really stole the show for me, his performance lived up to the demands of the character
he is time-weary, resigned, unfeeling and ruthless but also tragic, flawed, abandoned, gentle but lonely, haunted by unrequited love he doesn't understand

im enjoying it bc i like cultivation stories and they aren't made into dramas that often but it does feel very low budget overall
NH: Wait, you haven't taken off your hairpin yet
SYM: In costume dramas nobody really minds that
NH: What if it pricks me?!
omg i was cackling!!!!
