I began rereading 2ha last week because I was so desperate for HYX content, and I discovered so many details of foreshadowing I didn't pick up when I read the novel for the first time. Here are some I can think of right now:
[Spoilers ahead] 1. "Chu Wanning, are you made of wood?" It turned out that he really was made of wood. 2. The reason why Mo Ran saved the earthworms is because he ate them as a child. He was homeless back then, and earthworms were the only edible "food" he could find. 3. Xue Meng unintentionally blurted out that he'd like to take Jiang Xi's surname, and it turned out that his real surname was, in fact, Jiang. 4. In chapter 1, Mo Ran's eyes are described as "black to the point of holding hints of purple," foreshadowing his demon identity. 5. The demon dragon said, "Welcome, master" twice after Nangong Si opened the seal on Mount Jiao, hinting that Mo Ran has Nangong bloodline. 6. Mo Ran dislikes the smell of incense because as a kid, he was locked in a dog cage in a prostitute's room for seven days and seven nights, and was only provided leftovers to eat. The foul smell of incense with men's c*m disgusted him ever since. Chu Wanning put out the incense whenever Mo Ran entered his room, but Shi Mei never did that because he never genuinely cared about Mo Ran. 7. When the sky crack happened in the past lifetime, Chu Wanning checked on Shi Mei and made sure he was okay before leaving. Shi Mei "died" when he shouldn't have, implying that his death was a complete hoax.
