Yeah but when you go through the comment section and see the excuses and defense in regards to the most likely upcoming relationship between the FL & ML is quite telling and concerning how not much have actually changed in reality but it’s completely insane to me how anyone can accept and justify women entering a relationship with a previous abuser especially with the level of violence towards women that has been rampant nowadays with the exposures on social media this past few weeks of such behavior

The justification is crazy. Most of you are conveniently ignoring the main point, no one is saying he shouldn’t have his revenge or even torture or try to kill the FL for foiling his plans, the main bone of contention is that the FL or anyone in their right mind for that matter will fall in Love with their abuser for whatever reasons as I’m sure this drama will try and spin to justify their upcoming relationship is absurd and unacceptable.
I have watched many enemies to lovers dramas & I have even accepted some of them but nothing will ever make me accept a relationship that had torture and attempted murder preceding it but you all go off with the abuse and violence neglect.
Oh and make no mistake about this, this drama is romanticizing abuse and violence because people like you don’t care and will justify abusive relationships in CDramas to protect the precious MLs.

The development of the ML character is hardly the point of the OP.
If in later episodes he stops torturing the FL & trying to kill her + starts caring about the lives of his people, I guess in your opinion that’s character development, I on the other hand strongly disagree.
There is no coming back from someone torturing & trying to kill anyone several times, no matter what spin CDramas try to use and persuade the viewers, CDramaland will want people to accept that people especially their female characters will fall in love with their abuser and that’s somehow ok because he had trauma & now he’s changed, oh let’s not forget the most important one because he now loves her.
CDramas keep doing this because they know their viewers will always excuse and defend MLs to the ends of the earth.

I already made myself crystal clear that I won’t be exchanging words with anyone in regards to this drama & I remain steadfast in that assertion.

This is drama was all over the place, scenes jumping from one timeline to the other, from past to present to future and whatever else was going on but the directors/writers might have successfully (based on the high reviews) pulled the wool over most people eyes with the intense sexual scenes and chemistry alongside the dark and mysterious cinematography vibes, which they know all too well that BL lovers will eat, lick the plates and leave no crumbs while shouting through the rooftops with showers of praises of it being the best thing they’ve ever had, but I vehemently refuse to be suckered in like a starved child, because as an adult, I just don’t eat whatever is giving to me, when i eat, I prefer it to be of high quality/value.
Yeah I wouldn’t be rewatching this mess, intense sexy NC or not.

I disagree with this because chemistry between fictional characters played by actors in a TV series is not subjective. The actors/characters either have chemistry or they don’t.

You are right in that it’s her pick but it’s a pick that didn’t translate well due to the lack of chemistry.
If she was asexual that lack of physical chemistry not being important would have sufficed but that wasn’t her character so it doesn’t fly with me but anyways that’s my opinion. I guess we can agree to disagree

Well 9/10 because I liked the music, 9/10 because like I mentioned the acting was good overall, I doubt I will ever rewatch it as once was ok for me hence the 5.5/10.
I didn’t like the 2nd/3rd couple story arc hence the 8/10 overall so due to that I wasn’t willing to give it anything more than that but the overall plot was ok for me so 8.5/10. For you it might sound contradictory but this is my opinion and rating, you are free to rate yours however you choose.

He’s not in my fave list but I quite like ZLH especially in SOKP and I also like the FLs acting in her previous dramas, so I really did try but it wasn’t working for me so I’m dropping this drama, it’s giving me Back from the Brink whiplash. The tone of the drama is just not my cup of tea.
I’m not going to officially rate it, if I did it will be like a 4/10 and that is being generous cos I like the leads.
I wasn’t impressed with the cgi at all.

Honestly to say I was very tempted to rate this 7/10 or 7.5/10 is such an understatement but I will give it an 8. The acting of the cast overall was actually so good, it came across so natural, I was very impressed, especially compared to alot of idol CDramas nowadays where most of them especially the MLs cant act worth a dime.
The romance took a while to start but that’s on par with how almost every CDrama with 40+eps go, so I kinda was not surprised about that, normally I’m against FLs forgiving MLs for lying to them, but I’m ok with how this went and it wasn’t an instant or fast forgiveness, it took time and reflection which I liked.
The reason why I wanted to reduce my rating was cos of the 2nd couple, I won’t even go into the 3rd couple cos I ⏩ all their scenes as I could care less about them, no offense 2 them (BTW I liked his mom), anyways I agree with LiLi not ending up with Xiao but her ending up with that man child (no matter how they tried to dress him up in the later part of the drama to look matured, it just wasn’t working cos he still looked like a kid) IMO is such an insult to her character, first cos she said no several times but apparently no ain’t no, 2ndly there was zero physical chemistry between them but they just made her settle for him cos they were so hell bent on going the nice guy don’t finish last route to make so kind of statement that IMO failed so miserably, I’m so pissed actually about how that storyline ended.
Anyways overall I do recommend.

I’m currently at ep23 and lemme tell you the only department in which this drama is on par with Blood of Youth is in the romance department as both lacked severe chemistry between any of the romantic partners but the worst pairing award still goes to Xiao Se and the sword deity girl as that was honestly so painful to watch. It didn’t need romance but I understand the importance of it for the continuation of blood lines and generations, so a acting coach if there was one present should have worked more with the actors because the lack of chemistry was just way too glaring.
Blood of Youth beat this drama in every single department, CGI, Costumes, pacing, directing and most importantly script/plot and acting, I will complete this drama but I won’t ever be rewatching it whereas I have rewatched BOY 3 times already and will rewatch it again once I’m done with this one.
I’m doubling down on my previous assessment of Neo Hou, IMO he’s a very very very average actor but he’s handsome and popular so he will keep getting lead roles.

If you haven’t watched Blood Of Youth and don’t plan on watching it then don’t bother watching this one but if not go ahead as this gives the back story of the parents, shifus (masters) and acquittances of the characters in BOY.

I have dropped every drama of Yang Mi I ever tried to watch. I thought my love for Gong Jun was strong enough to make me push through and complete this drama but alas it wasn’t so.
I’m sad to drop a Gong Jun drama but even my love for him wasn’t strong enough to get past the stoic pouty one face expression from Yang Mi.

I do like the story and the acting, the acting which is a pet peeve of mine from Thai dramas & has resulted in me dropping a lot of their dramas is fortunately not an issue here as the plot and acting in this one is really good.
Currently @ ep 10 and I’m seriously frustrated with Kawi. He claims to want an equal relationship but that’s not what’s happening, Pisaeng still always has to give in to his wishes and demands, every thing they do is on Kawi’s terms, Pisaeng wanted to stay home but Kawi forced or cajoled however you wanna look at it, to go to the amusement park, Pisaeng ok we are here now, let’s get on a ride, in true Kawi form, he says no and sulks/walks back to the car, like seriously, that really pissed me off.
As long as Kawhi bats his eyelashes and says please Pisaeng will just give in like a simp, while it was tolerable before they became official now it’s just plain stupid especially after the whole “be equal in the relationship” passionate speech.

Their domestic montage in ep11 was cute and adorable.

Your review has made me decide to continue with the drama, because I dropped it after ep1 as the FLs acting or rather lack of acting chops was just too much for me to bear and tolerate. So I will continue it and endure for 3 more episodes, hopefully it gets better for me as it did you 🤞

I am 12 minutes into ep2 and I’m really struggling to continue with this, I have read quite a number of comments and most people’s complaints are about the plot but mine so far is the acting, aside from the guy playing Ming, the rest of the cast are not doing anything for me at all.
I guess I'm not seeing the top notch acting some commenters have alluded to. That pool scene at the beginning of ep2 was my 2nd to last straw with the acting in this, I will give this drama ep2-3, if I continue to cringe with the acting, then I will just drop it.

I’m at ep2 and I’m finding it extremely hard to get into this drama. I wouldn’t consider myself a fan of both leads but I like them and have watched some of their other dramas and I have nothing against the acting especially from the female lead but I’m just not feeling anything when watching the drama, I haven’t connected with the drama at all. I will give the drama 3 more episodes before I decide to drop or continue as I have been looking forward to it since I saw the teasers
