I so badly wanted to love this drama. Even with the adult steamy makeout seshs by the leads which I do give them high kudos for because lemme tell you they ate those scenes (pun intended) and left no crumbs, I just didn’t love the drama as I had hoped especially with all the rave reviews and it being literally everywhere, like on social media.
I did enjoy the phone calls though especially when he found out she was on the other end, it was IMO the best part of the drama, I wish we got more of that aspect.
I obviously won’t be rewatching it but I do recommend for at least a one time watch.

I am 30+mins into this drama and lemme tell you it’s incredibly astonishing how bored out of my mind I am, this has been on my watchlist because of the high ratings and rave reviews, but I can barely keep my eyes open in the short time I have watched so far & I am someone that has watched & rewatched a lot of series. So I’m really confused will the high rating.
Well maybe it’s just not might cup of tea.
I won’t drop yet, I will put on hold though for now.

I completely and totally enjoyed the first half of the drama, but after ep 18 the drama just went downhill for me, the plot and acting in the drama that started out so strong just went downhill, it was astonishing how bad it got especially in the acting department after ep18.
I am not surprised the rating keeps dropping because a drama that could have really been so great was butchered half way in.
Overall it was an ok watch but it’s not something I would rewatch.

It’s so funny how everyone now likes Avenue X cos she has the same opinions as them, in regards to this drama, but God forbid her opinion is different, she is then branded a hater.
FYI Idol Stans, not everyone who doesn’t worship your fave idol or don’t like the drama they are in are haters or antis, most times the script and acting just sucks and while I don’t agree with all the reviews of Avenue X but I sure am glad she gives her opinions regardless of the herds of sheep mentality attacks.
This drama was not even on my radar and I’m normally a binge watcher (the drama the broke my binge watching streak was The Double, I simply couldn’t wait, shout out Duke Su and A Li) but somehow I have watched till ep13 even though I told myself to wait until it’s completed to binge watch, some things are irritating me in the drama so far but I’m still really enjoying it and hopefully it sticks the landing.
This is one of the few recent dramas (another one that comes to mind is “A journey to love”) that don’t have irrelevant characters, all characters here have a purpose and not just to prop any other character up.
So far 8.5/10, could bump up to a 9.5/10 if it in fact does stick the landing.

I am liking this drama so far but I am honestly getting a bit pissed off, why is the FL acting all scared, timid and weak in front of only her uncle, she talks back to her father and stepmother but acts like she wants to cry and hide whenever she faces her uncle , why does her uncle have so much power over her emotionally that doesn’t even make any sense, will still keep watching for now

This has been on my watchlist, then i saw 8.8/10 and I was like oh wow, I’m in for a good time but alas it wasn’t so.
Ep1 was ok enough even though I wasn’t exactly seating at the edge of my seat in anticipation of the next episode but I’m like maybe it gets better since it has such high rating, half way through ep2 and I’m asking myself why I’m I here? 55mins into ep2 and the bank scene I was like yeah I’m out, I’m like is this for real, is this supposed to be a real bank?
I’m sorry to anyone who likes this but this is definitely not a quality series and it’s honestly bad, the background characters are just lifeless and screaming I am just an extra so loud, my eardrums hurt so much.
This very below average drama being rated so high is mind boggling, as someone who reads a fair amount of reviews here, I’m used to a lot of reviewers here enjoying mediocrity and some would rate highly anything their faves are in whether good or bad, I have long giving up hope of having the majority of the reviews and ratings here from people with working brain cells, most people who write reviews here have below average level intelligence, so when I continue seeing ratings like this, the hope that is dead gets buried even deeper.

I’m about to rewatch Story of MingLan and Story of Yanxi Palace (I always rewatch both back to back every time I rewatch, both are in my top10 fave CDramas, obviously 🙈) while waiting for some of the dramas I’m interested in to be completed as I’m a binge watcher

Cdrama MLs are always written as too perfect in all their ways, they are always the most intelligent, in-fact the most everything but this drama took it to a whole new level, he is a doctor (surgeon), a voice actor, a singer, a chef and to crown it all up he can draw (artist) and good at archery and he is not just decent or good at all the aforementioned, he’s in-fact super great at all of them.
I just wonder if there are no sounding boards of wisdom in the writers/directors room to tell them when they have gone too far with the “perfectness” of a character cos boy oh boy the ML was way too far in perfect land, his shit probably smelled like roses and lavender.
The whole I planned our engagement photoshoot without consulting you and asking for your opinions, did not read as romantic to me the way the series intended, it probably did for some people but to me it just didn’t. Well to each their own I guess
All that being said I did enjoy the drama in the overall sense of the word, Sometimes you just want to go away from the scheming, plotting and backstabbing dramas (which is my fave genre btw) and watch something easy and sweet where everyone loves and support each other and this drama gives you that in leaps and bounds lemme tell you, it really is so sweet that the threat of toothaches and stomachaches is very real.
It’s not something I would rewatch as I can only handle all that gooey “perfection” once.
I recommend for a one time watch if you like gooey sweetness

I’m at ep12 and so far I like this drama although I must admit I’m not a fan of the romantic music and slow motion that is happening with our leads so far especially when they are supposed to be brother/sister (yes he now knows that she’s not his sister but she doesn’t so it’s super weird and this romantic music and slow motion thingy happened even before he knew).
The other 2 things that is really grating on my nerves so bad.
Firstly, the FL talks in such a way that is not natural, its too measured, I haven’t heard anyone talk like that before in my life or even on tv, it comes across as acting (which is what she’s doing alright) but it shouldn’t present itself as such.
Then for the love of everything that is good, does she really need to call him third brother every 3 freaking seconds 😤😤😤. We get it already.

I agree with a lot of the reviewers, they dragged this for so long that by the time the relationship came around, I just did not care anymore.
It felt more like, she’s liking him back because he likes her and not because she wants him so much, really after everything he’s done and said, it’s that message that turned the light bulbs on for her, the reasoning just feels so weak and convenient IMO. Its more like yeah this is the episode the relationship is supposed to start in the drama according to the writers/directors.

The utter sickness and disgust I feel reading most of the comments here is frankly overwhelming.
Majority of the commenters here appear to be women and as a woman gleeing and anticipating a relationship between an abuser and the abused because they are so adorable and are going to have so many cute moments is disgusting and you all need to go and reflect on yourselves.
Equating abuse and torment to red flag buzz word is such a joke.
So many beautiful women are abused in today’s world and they cover up their scars with makeup because how do you say you are being abused when you post pictures on social media and the comments will be like “OMG they are so cute, “slay” “God when” “couple goals” etc just like what is happening in this comment section, prime example is that of Diddy and Cassie (most people should know about this), so many paparazzi pictures of them over the years but who could have imagined that he was beating her blue and black on several occasions.
Over the past few weeks we have read all over social media the level of abuse and assaults a lot of women and young girls are going through even from the men in their families but yeah let us glee and anticipate a relationship preceded with abuse, torture and almost murder because they are so cute.
Anyone who is in support of a relationship between an abuser and the abused is sick, there is no if’s and buts about it
