I have never watched an ongoing drama as I am a binge watcher but for some reason I decided to watch the first few episodes and lemme tell you I couldn’t stop. It was so bad I payed for YOUKU vip pass even though I had a feeling it was going to come to VIKI but viki is always so slow with Eng subs especially on CDramas and god knows I was not willing to wait. It is indeed going to come out on Viki like I originally thought it would. The wait for more episodes has been pure torture lemme tell you, I visit this page almost 3 times a day. Anyways the only consolation is that I get to rewatch it on Viki while waiting for new episodes on YOUKU. My absolute favorite drama of the year so far and no other drama is even close. I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND Overall value 10/10 so far
PS: I forgot to add, Duke Su’s fan is definitely the main character of this drama.
Just watched this for the first time and although it’s been 14years since its release, the overall vibe is not too bad. Although the ML was a combination of Superman, IronMan & Jackie Chan all rolled in one unbelievable package, you just have suspend your disbelief and enjoy the ride. The prosecutor guy got way too much screen time for someone with such bad acting, he’s acting was so bad, I rolled my eyes every time he was on screen plus he’s self righteous indignation was beyond my tolerance. He knew not 1️⃣ but 2️⃣ of his father’s crimes but other than begging him to confess he never went after him like he did with the other people. I don’t know what this series was trying to portray with his character because the justice seeking hill he was claiming to die on was rocky as hell, as it was shrouded in hypocrisy. I really wish they gave the FL more screen time because she ended up being more or less a supporting character in the drama, which was a shame, she had spunk and skills. Well as for that twist in the final eps, I sure as hell didn’t see it coming. So many unbelievable and eye roll moments in this drama but overall, it’s a drama that if you turn your brain off, you will most likely enjoy it, Overall Value 8/10
Thanks to the writers of this drama for giving us less common trope filled plot. This is the one drama that the romance being as muted as it was, was actually not bad at all. The focus of the drama was overcoming adversity and doing it with love and our FL did it with such aplomb. Although her family members took sometime to come around to her way of thinking when they finally did the family became unstoppable. I have seen a lot of horrible emperors in CDramas but this one does take the cake because he was horrible for no reason other than he was d emperor. I especially liked that the fight scenes were not flowery and beautiful but dark and gritty. No spinning and twirling in the fight scenes, well except for that one time between the leads (you can take everything out of a CDrama but you can never take twirling between the leads out, as it’s almost a taboo not to have that one moment, and lemme just say when done well I’m all for it) Anyways to say I highly recommend this drama will be an understatement. So lemme get this straight, if you had a plan to go somewhere with someone or a group of people but for whatever reason you cancel and the other party continues with the journey and unfortunately gets injured or dies in an accident that had nothing to do with you, you are to be held responsible for that? CDrama plots always portrays their citizens as very toxic/hateful/vile/evil people especially the female ones and honestly lacking of critical thinking. CDrama writers need to do better in portraying their female characters. The constant extreme vengeful characterization of the female gender is seriously disturbing That Yun Character is one of the worst characters I have ever seen. Her self righteous woe is me countenance was so off putting. I fast forwarded more than 65% of the drama. I’m not opposed to a lot of kiss scenes and they were a lot in this drama but I agree with some other reviewers, some of the kiss scenes just felt forced somehow. The acting in this drama left a lot to be desired, and why the hell do all the characters have to call each others names every single time they talk? I obviously do no recommend this if you are looking for a quality drama but if you wanna watch numerous make out sessions (which a lot of CDramas don’t offer) then this one is for you. I unfortunately completed this drama but with the help of the fast forward ⏩. When you have to fast forward a drama with 15min run time then you already know it’s a terrible drama, Funny enough it really could have been a decent enough drama even with the run time but I don’t even know how much a better developed plot could have saved this especially with how bad the acting from Mew was, I wanted to give the acting 1/10 but I ended up giving it 4/10 because the SML did a really decent enough job and shouldn’t be punished for the bad job the more experienced actor did. If you haven’t watched this drama and thinking should I go for it just to see for myself, I sincerely employ you to not do it. Some people in the earlier comments when the drama started airing accusing people of hating on the drama because of Gulf, do you think everyone is a delusional hormonal teenager without a brain like you?, if majority of people say something is bad, then there should be some modicum of truth to it? There is no ifs and buts about this drama though, it’s really bad, a no plot drama with horrible acting. For me it was so painful to watch actually. I obviously DO NOT recommend

If you are mentally out of a relationship it’s better to have that discussion with your partner and break up instead of not saying anything and then basically dating someone else because best believe what she was doing with the ML was dating. By the way I enjoyed the drama cheating and whatnot until I got to ep15, my low rating is because of the breakup or taking a break that happened in ep15, it pissed me the hell off because it wasn’t necessary, it was just done to fulfill the breakup ep quota that Asian drama writers are hell bent on adding in almost all dramas. I have reached my tolerance level on accepting breakup that is not necessary in advancing the plot.

I was going to give this drama a higher rating but ep15 changed my mind. This almost end of the drama break up trope that Asian dramas can’t seem to help themselves but include in almost every damn drama whether it makes sense or not, and especially for the most insane unrealistic reasons is beyond perplexing because it not only destroys the validity of the relationship, it just cheapens the whole drama IMO. They have talked about everything under the sun in this drama, they have gone through so much and also know almost everything about each other due to the plot but we are supposed to believe/accept that they will break up or take a break because of that little misunderstanding, puhhhlease, such cheap copout reason to add a breakup to the plot has made me reduce the ratings for this drama. So good job script writer/director what a fabulous job you all have done. Also the amount of meetups between Shi Hoon and Ki Seok for their villain attitude/behavior bonding sessions was way too much for my tolerance. About the cheating debate. Did they cheat? 💯. Am I going to defend it? no. I feel they made the FL look way to bad because not only did she cheat on him she also gaslight him with the you want to marry me when your father doesn’t approve of me story when she has long fallen out of love with him and falling completely for someone else. I guess the deranged psycho behavior by Ki Seok was to justify the cheating because I have yet to come across anyone much less a guy that will take back someone who not only cheated on them but is also in love with someone else. I know they tried to play the whole I’m doing it to bring you down but there was no deep relationship between him and the ML initially to warrant such aggressive behavior of wanting to bring him down. The way I laughed when I read the FL, ML & SML should have used their super powers to find and save the plot first. I’m just starting this drama and I’m still on ep1, I wanted to read some low reviews to see if it’s going to be my cup of tea so as not to waste my time especially on a drama that is a few years old, I came across your review and I couldn’t stop laughing and couldn’t help myself but reply.
