Wow...another chapters of Wu Xie's journey. This one is quite interesting though there some questionable story line, I just got on episode 4-5 and be like....how come when there are corpse bugs, those bugs only attacked others except Wu-Xie and Ah Ning while they were there with others, and why in the heck Ah Ning asked others to return to the camp and she ran away from that situation with Wu-Xie just to get lost yet she was not even get a scratch, and at night so cold she told Wu-Xie to take off his wet jacket and she pretty much not shivering of cold wearing a tank top...like hello...Wu-Xie's literally having tremor on his hands. In previous series of young Wu-Xie, he's smart and could grap the situation pretty well though he also a naive person. In this episode he just look like weak and kind of depending on Ah Ning and others, maybe it's just because he's just too young at the time? But well it just my opinion on the episode 4-5. Here Ah Ning character is good but I prefer Ah Ning from previous series, here she's like on make up all the time, no sweat and looking fresh like on an outdoor show.and no scratch at all, and she just talk harsly like working hard at being scary but not having that authoritative aura at all, she's just too cute (i mean in a good way). I like her though, she's one of interesting characters, an interesting frienemy who knows what she's doing and has a strong character actually. Too bad she died just like that. I read in the comment about the cliff hanger ending, it's just typical for these series, fortunately we knew thry all eill meet up again in the future as we"ve seen the series on 10 and 13 years later when wi cie is ob his mid 30s.
Did anyone else get absolutely disgusted by the ridiculous amount of torture in episode six? Like watching this…
I think they did purposely to emphasiz the limit of Zi O's tolerance on the amount of pain he could endure. It must take something tremendous to turn him into something else maybe he does not even know exists in him. If before he just playing defense to survive, in confusion, in fear, on the run, now he must change the strategy in order to survive. Before, he tried to avoid them all now it is time to face them all and find out what really happened and what made him. I guess that is the point of it, because even the amount of torture he had been endured he used to keep running away and avoiding them all in fear and and there's a limit to it where he couldn't do that anymore, a limit of turning point when he realised his method of survival is not effective anymore, and the only way is to face them directly, maybe even to challenge them. A turning point for Zi O as he already reached his limit of tolerating the tortures and pain, that he must do something if he wanted to survive. Even so, it is so touching to see that he still maintain his humanity, he did not kill those people in the lab, he went after the people who responsible...even what they called beast, monster is more humane than all those evil human beings....
I agree so much!! I thought I was the only one who felt this way. I also personally feel like the two leads don't…
Totally agree with you. Sometimes it feels unfair that some idols are given chance to act just because they are idols...some really do good hard work in it and some are just meh...yet people must give them applaud somehow as they at least try to do their best. The thing is there are lots of young actors or actresses who really started from zero in acting and they appears as supporting roles ...yet given support roles time and time again in dramas inspite of their acting skills. I mean these actors/actresses also deserve chance to develop their skills...buy it takes time for them yet idols are given this privellege time and time again despite their lackings is just make no sense. I heard this is FL first act...and ugh she ruined it for me...even XZ tried his best to give her a balance chance still her portrayal of the character is still amiss since the day one. I don't get the feel at all and the fact she abruptly appear and being the most important person for TS is like wth she did to him to make him go all in for protecting her....just because she stalked him all around? And she seemed to be like knowing it all by reading...nowhere showing her reading nowhere showing why she suddenly attached herself to TS....she just appeared and sleep right next to him shamelessly and TS be like well it's ok she's like a sister to me i must protect her at all cost and give her a yes to her stalking me all around....even this is a fantasy drama it feels like wth....ive never seen this kind of thing in another fantasy drama...they don't give us the hint as to why FL character sudden appear and doing what she did...like hello poor writing...i wish to see it to the end but idk i already had this bad first impression...i might be cheking on the anime....maybe it is better there than this one...ep 7 is as far as I can go with this one...
I agree with one of the replies here, the term "ge" is generally a term or title for someone you are close to.…
Oh I thought on ep 7 they made promise to be brother and sister ...it is kinda make them sworn siblings since that's what I get from the way TS treating XW really like a sister. And the fact it was her who suddenly appear and stick to him like a stalker everywhere he goes uninvited...and well that kinda typical in many CD with such character...they do whatever they please without brain to think about the consequences others might bear for them and they walk around freely and carelessly...and the worst is they must get a yes for whatever things they ask or do no matter how unreasonable that is....this is typical characterizatuon of "energetic and cheerful" character I mean with some/many CD unfortunatelly. This is just my personal opinion that might be also typical impression though....maybe i should read the novel since it is said her character is better written there and the development we don't see in the drama. And the act makes it even unbelieveable even her character supposed to be energetic and cheerful and so....because most of the time she's just idk not interesting to watch her character and the portrayal of her character....since i just dropped it on ep 7 idk about any other female characters. All I get it she caused the trouble and someone must clean up after her and that person is TS and she jusy abruptly become the most important person for TS is just weird...so yea have dropped it...and move on with other CD.
I agree with one of the replies here, the term "ge" is generally a term or title for someone you are close to.…
I understand the common term "ge" and "meimei" as it is not exclusive to Chinese culture, it is common in many Asian countries...it is a proper way in addressing someone according to one's age. And it is still used until now. But the case is different when you made personal vow for being sworn brother-sister, even in Chinese culture be told in stories it means making you family. I have arrived at that episode (ep 7) they swore to each other to be family and specifically mention to be brother and sister (TS even mentioned he always wanted a sister)...even in a fantasy story there are some values that are not to be crossed since there's always message to be delivered and be interpreted by its viewers. I know some or even many will not agree but it just a wrong message to people especially the target audience here are young people. Even this is a fantasy story, some might get the idea that it is an okay thing. Maybe it just me who takes this too seriously but well it just doesn't sit well with me. Why bother make a line story of two persons being sworn brother-sister as siblings if it will develop into romance anyway...or maybe we just lost in translation...this might be a small thing but idk...it just feels not right for me...so yea I just dropped it on ep. 7....
In the novel they meet as 6 year olds so they have 10 years to grow closer. It does seem very abrupt in the drama…
I mean i just read in the description that they look out for each other as siblings for life...i have not seen it in the episodes where they made such a vow. But really even in Chinese culture sworn-brother-sister is to be taken as siblings too (siblings mean have blood relation) while in other culture such relation is described as foster relationship. That makes you family. If in the drama they never actually made such a vow as sworn siblings then I will take back my comments...but if they do then this is not my cup of tea...even it is not focused on romance but wth sworn-siblings turn lovers is just disgusting....sorry.
Idk with others but the FL sudden appearance is quite off. She butts in as she pleases and quite a nuisance to be honest, idk why energetic and cheerful character is portrayed almost typical in CD. I mean she suddenly appear in ML life and then the relationship development suddenly leveled up to she's the most important person ML should protect at all cost. I mean the story line is just poor in that sense. Idk how it will develop I'm just on episode 5, and no hard feeling for the actress but Idk why everyone thinks just because you're an idol then it is guaranteed that you could act or deserve a chance for that. While there are alot of other people who really working hard and even studied at universities just to learn how to act. Her acting is just off most of the time, her expressions are bland, and her chemistry with ML is not convincing at all. And as per my understanding about the culture...how come once you made a lifetime siblings vow to each other then it becomes a romance without moral conflict...if you made such a vow, it means you must see and treat each other like real brother and sister...like real siblings, then to love your own sworn brother is like incest thing even you have no blood relation at all. You could not undone a vow or override it just because you develop a romantic feeling without having mental even moral conflicts wuithin. I have a foster brother and he's a real brother for me, and my entire life for me he's a sibling though we have no blood relation at all, and I just could not swallow it if I should see him in different way, an idea for romantic relation just so disgusting between brother and sister....sworn brother-sister is to be taken literally as so...and if this drama taken that direction made them a pair....no matter how good the story might be I don't think I will watch it because i don't want to get such message....especially people who have foster brothers or sisters...you know people might get the wrong messages...
If I'm not wrong, the queen said to Jo Hwa that she found out the truth about her, that she is the fake Kim So Yong as she regained more of her memories. It must be related to the annihilation of King's family when they were children, could it be that Jo Hwa caused something so terrible but she did it in disguise as Kim So Yong to put the blame on Kim So Yong's family? And the real Kim So Yong found that out, but Jo Hwa also acused her of being the king's murderer in the scene at the lake, hopefully it will get interesting....oh long way to go to the 20th episode, lol but this one is just so much fun and entertaining...
wonder what were ppl expecting from it... i mean it is still going wonderul... yes a couple of some eps in the…
Totally agree with you. This has been good. I think the hight expectation of romance betwen Jamie and Jung Woo. And disappointment with FL character. Hye Won wasn't even born or maybe just a wee baby when things happened back then in WNV with Jung Woo, Jamie, Jae Woong and the writer made her character like that, an awkward one. She didn't ask to be part of the team, it was Jung Woo who scouted and invited her. She has her father trait in a sense she's very dedicated to her job, all about het job and she's all about kicking ass. So yea then she has that feeling for her leader half her age older at the other side she respected and trusted him. Jung Woo was using her and he did not want to hurt her because she knew nothing of the evil deeds of her father, but he let her knew and let her made her own decision. We began to see, she put aside her awkward feelinh for him and began her own searching for truth. Jamie in the other side due to her memory loss and all the side effects of the experiment on her, she kind of forget or just couldn't perform her power. It is not just that she reduced to nothing but a confused person, she is a confused person, it must be really hard for her and took all her will power to keep functioning with the glimpses of memory coming back once in a while, sometimes just a glimpse sometimes flooding in amd then just stop. Jung Woo look all too superior here because he actually since the first time was not just the oldest among the three, he was the smartest one as well, remember it was his formula those people are trying to get when he was just a kid. And in episodr 12, we saw I think it was his doing also with the village, when we see he put something into the food. He wanted to save them from the evil researchers. So yes, he's dominant all the way through. But his weakness is his long lost dear friend Jamie (they indeed like brother and sister along with Jae Woong, in all the flashbacks) and also his illness is his side effect. He does not want to cure himself maybe because he think he's living on a borrowed time and before his time comes he needed to find his missing friends and end those in the evil foundation once and for all. He has that soft spot for Hye Won, but I don't think it's romance, it's like he just like her being all naive but physically strong. He knew she liked her and he was touched but his feeling for her is unknown. To say the actress who played Hye Won couldn't act because he flat expression and awkwardness is unfair, i think it is her character here and she played it very well, just like her father character, all flat expressions and all about his evil research. I hope Jamie will get back all her memories and also her power and with Jung Woo saved the good Jae Woong before bad Jae Woong took him over completely. And that with the help of Hye Won and the reporter and detective friends, they will bring down the foundation. It would be sad to see Jung Woo died, but if in the end he sacrificed himself for all of them, it also a good ending. It is ok to have the expectation but be rational also we can't force our expectation in the story that has been completed, because all we got is frustration and yeah, disappointment and sometimes a biased comment (like someone get to be blamed on).
ZLY is young looking but not to the point where she could realistically play someone nearly half her age. She…
Well I think in this drama the character is not a cheerful one, ZF is a stubborn young girl, she's kinda girl who knows what she wants and will go for it with all her power. And for vigor, it seems lack because the double used in most of scenes where we could see or feel the vigor. I mean your body and face will always have that unique expression when you do things, sweating is just one thing, but overall expression usually will show more vigor than if you just making stances. Idk about the drama you mentioned, but yea in this drama ZLY does not look like a young girl she supposed to portray, it is due to the stupid make up ,you're right even her dress does not helping at all, and her lacks of movements in the scenes where she should fight and doing high mobility movements.
I have the same impression about the age gap, however ZLY is playing the stubbornness very well. Also it is funny…
Oh, then maybe I'll take a look at it later, I kinda like good fighting scenes and it would be great if the heroine doing her own stuff or if using double, at least she's doing some moves. And I don't know why in CD mostly have to include romance between leads, I mean not all story in this world necessarily have romance in them. But well I get used to it though, some I can enjoy, some I just skip the romance part and paying attention to the other plot. And it really something me to see these senior actresses played roles of a much younger character and in the opposite sometimes we see younger actors played older character roles. But as long as they don't ruin it all with bad make up, they can cover it up with good acting skills. And CN has many great talents indeed from all ages. Anyway thank you for the insight of Princess Agents, I'll see it, usually first 5 episodes could do the justice for me. I'm not even sure now to continue with this (i was so expecting this actually but idk if I can go on later than 10 episodes. Wow more than 30 stunt doubles? That's crazy? What did ZLY do then in the drama if there are the load of doubles there to do her job? Wow it can't be true, right?
I have the same impression about the age gap, however ZLY is playing the stubbornness very well. Also it is funny…
Yes, that kinda make this drama less interesting than it supposed to be. I mean I came here for the story of Fei being such a legendary heroine to have all the fighting scenes done mostly by stunt double even all the major fighting scenes kinda disappointing. She looks at an ideal weight, and if she's about losing weight, getting some sweat doing moves would be effective, but she didn't do that, not even a drop. I keep going on because of her acting and even more because of other leads and support roles. I mean they at least look better and do better in the scenes. If they use stunt double, not apparent like the stunt double they used to do Fei fighting and moving scenes. I hope the story and plot will get better. i haven't watched Princess Agent so I don't know if this one can be compared to that. But since you mentioned it, I'm going to watch it if in the mid of this I got bored lol. Cos tbh I really looking forward to watch this because I see the trailer and it is ZLY, I really like her first time seeing her in Mystic Nine, she's just adorable and then in Minglan. But then again she's just human, she can't be at her best at all times. There are many great casts here and it's such a big treat to see WYB playing such a playful guy.
I have the same impression about the age gap, however ZLY is playing the stubbornness very well. Also it is funny…
Well it is understandable to use stunt (double) if she had the issues, but the stunt used to do her fighting scenes here looked obviously man, whose figure does not resemble her at all. And since she's having such an issue due to doing all stunt herself, knowing this drama will have a lot of fighting scenes, she really took a big risk. Acting skills is one thing, but if you're using too much stunt double for the major scenes (in thie case fighting scenes), yout acting skill will not be a much of help. I really liked her acting in Mystic Nine and Minglan (i only watched her in these two previously), I didn't watch Princess Agent or her other works that boost her career, but wathing those two, I know she's really a hard working and talented actress. But in this drama, it just not her best. And about the age, wow, so that is the case for them. I mean there are many talented young actress who I think can do the work too. And there are many dramas that actually fit their age too. It just don't make sense that you will just allow yourself to take up roles that passed your fit age already, roles that you can give them up to younger generation. I mean 30 to play 17 is just too big a gap for physical appearance. Can't they say no thank you? If that's what the director or producer wants? I mean they have the right also to be selective in picking up the drama they want to do, or can't they? I mean China has a lot of great actors and actresses and even more the potentials. And though they demand the actresses to maintain their youthful look, that does not stop peope from ageing. Even Yang Mi looks too old to play a young lady in Legend of Fu Yao despite her great acting. And here, they tried to fix it with thick make up which make it even worse. Tbh it's quite weird for me, as this drama is about Fei, but I keep watching it not because of Fei scenes, but for the others characters to see how will they end up.
Imo JW and HW having great chemistry, as he does with JL. The thing is the kind of chemistry is different, JW and JL shared a past childhood memory together, and their chemistry is just like that bond between old mates who just get to meet again, caring and playful and at the same time curious at each other. I don't feel the romance in the look of their eyes or their friendly touch. While JW and HW chemistry is of that awkward moments between a junior tomboy officer who obviously has feeling for her senior. They have their difference in age, characters and motives. HW character is a young officer who really into her work physically, her strength is her physical work a.k.a fighting skills, and she's the type of straighforward person, her look is that of a tough look, she's not the feminine type of a woman. She really respect JW as her senior and idk why people saying she has no brain comparing to JL, of course they are different characters, and here JL plays that smart roles, while HW has her own strength. She did not ask to be part of the team, JW invited her, and she was not invited to be the brain of the team, but of her physical skills and that JW is using her because of her father. And JW is not the character who would display his emotion for everyone to notice. It is exactly their chemistry, they could portray those awkward moments yet at the same time caring for HW part and knowing it from JW part, but he couldn't do anything about it but to push her away, because he's on a mission. I don't agree with them who said the actress who played HW couldn't act her role. Imo, she's doing great, her look is tough and she is an ass kicking person, it is just understandable if you would not see the expression of woman in love, most tough characters won't have that look in their faces, but you can see it in their acts and the look in their eyes. And that's quite hard to deliver and the actress did it well. So i think it fits well for JW and HW to have that kind of relationship people expecting than JW and HW. JW and HW are too similar in many ways and if they make a couple it would be a boring one for them because there are no challenge at all, lol, but that's just imo. The point is I don't expect the romance here, but have no problem if there is one. I hope it will getting better after episode 8, would love to see the twists.
I have the same impression about the age gap, however ZLY is playing the stubbornness very well. Also it is funny…
Indeed their chemistry is good and ZLY is definitely playing a stubborn character well, the only thing not fit here is her thick make up. This drama is about a young woman legend not about an older lady. So WYB is supposed to flirt with a young woman chararcter which btw ZLY delivered well. WYB played his role very well here, but it would be great if the act is for another drama and story (older lady younger man love romcom maybe?) As this drama is about a 17 yo ZF, and again despite her great act, the make up betray it all, she's cute, but her make up makes it too obvious that they really trying to cover up her 30 yo look poorly. And that is not fair for her. And if she's as the Lead bearing the title of the drama doing lesser efforts than others in the fighting scene, it's unfair. The others seem to really doing moves while hers were just stances and light moves, her stunt look too obvious too. If she does not want to do it all, imo why bother taking up the role? I just don't see it make sense here. But well it just my opinion.
Was expecting this, because I saw the trailer and it looked great. I think the story is good, the casts are great, but maybe it just me who thinks it could be better. No hard feeling, ZLY is great, but I think she's too old for this character to par with WYB despite their very well built chemistry. (I think ZF in the novel is a 17 yo girl). I haven't watch all her dramas, but I watched her in Minglan and Mystic Nine (She's a real talent imo, every character she played, she played them great). In here, though she played it well, but it does not well fit for her because she must put on a thick makeup to make her look fit the character's age. No matter how cute she actually is, her thick make up betray her acting, to play a 17 yo role is nothing for her in acting but not in the look. And though she and WYB has such a good chemistry, again because of the thick make up, it feels like WYB is chasing after an ignorant over 30 lady in the shape of 17 yo character. Her thick make up is too obvious compared to all others, that's just wrong. And while it is understandable to use stunt, but as the main FL and not to mention the title bearing lead, her fighting scenes are just not much, most are just look like finishing posing stances after the stunt acts. Makes it look unnatural for she does not drop a single sweat at all after all the moves. And the worst thing is that I can clearly see it's the stunt who does the fighting scenes, and ZLY just yeah just posing like she did it all in 'the end' of it all. All the scenes of fighting which she did herself were only stances, or light moves that does not making her sweaty. I mean others are doing better than her in this, while it supposed to be hers since the title of the drama is the story of her legend. It would be weird to watch a drama about someone, but you then find our the others are looking and doing better in their roles than the supposed main lead. All this make her great acting less powerful. If they just not overdo her make up (i mean c'mon it would be better find someone whose age is not too far to fit the character, than to do this to ZLY) and have her have some sweats shown, I think no one will ever notice that she's playing the character of a young girl. There are many others to mention but well, it's too long a comment already. Overall, this is not the best but it's watchable.
Something that bothered me in the last two episodes:While they were trying to track down Jungwoo in the CCTV control…
No one thought that a culprit would escaped back to police station of all place. They were so focusing on looking for him in other possible places, they also did not know that Hye Won brought him back there, they simply missed that until Jamie told them then they began to look at their own cctv clearly shown he walked in there unnoticed with Hye Won.
No hard feeling, ZLY is great, but I think she's too old for this character to par with WYB despite their very well built chemistry. (I think ZF in the novel is a 17 yo girl).
