yeah OCN does this genre better. I'm not sure about this director too :/
'Beyond Evil' was executed amazingly. there really isn't much of a thrill in the story and it gets weak in final stretch but the acting and technical aspects of that series were what made it really enjoyable. director certainly worries me. 'Stranger 2' was decent but it could've been a lot better esp on direction. pacing was on and off for the first half of series. there were time in that series, I thought why is the focus on some random character more than leads. it lost focus at times. it wasn't helping that they were also trying to set up S3 with Hanjo Corporation. I need this series to be more than just good so that short series becomes a norm in thrillers.
'Startup' was promising until they turned the entire story into a cockfight b/w 2 MLs. turned FL into a damsel. even cut SFL's screentime. whole bunch of bs. yeah. let's hope writing is atleast halfway decent considering studio's track record :/

'Flower of Evil' is melo mostly. Its not much of a thriller. the direction was pretty good but script was not. past storyline in 'Chicago Typewriter' was amazing. lead actor always chooses smth interesting to work on. His next series is also very interesting- 'Hellbound' (https://kisskh.at/57415-hell) yeah. korean series have a softer standards on pretty much every genre mostly coz of their broadcasting rules and advertisement money. coz same is not true for their movies or Netflix originals at all :/
People hated Soo hyun because she was against Kang Yo han.Even Ga On got so much hate whenever he misunderstood…
viewers didn't liked the characterization of Ga On and Soo Hyun not coz they were against Yo Han. Yo Han got the entire focus in both writing and direction so ofc audience would connect with him more. makers never expounded on perspective of former 2 properly. they were almost reduced to useless chumps coz makers wanted to make Yo Han look cool. like saving those 2 even on their jobs. its poor and lazy writing.
story is predictable and they could've done a better job in exploring 2 MLs. maybe that's for another season. I think makers wanted violence and abuse that goes on military to be main emphasis of the series. not Jun Ho or Ho Yul's character. but they could've fleshed out each deserter and both MLs a bit better even if it meant making ep longer. I also thought that ep 1 through 4 were a bit lacking on emotional front but 5 & 6 were great.
