hahahaha i had to watch History 5 thinking it had a sad ending but the ending was satisfying for me.
Even with the ending of the grandma giving approval of the relationship. Imo they could have made the ending work without making his motivation for getting back being the grandma's death. He had enough motivation to get back just by the fact that he had to adjust to the modern technology and world events.

The reason why I found the writing for aek believable is the fact that his mother was the main motivation for any attitude/ personality changes in the show. Which made him consistent as a character. Once that was explained via his choice of major in college. All of his decisions afterwards were like puzzle pieces fitting together for me.
