He's proven to be an angel in disguise for her. In end, she lost him, soulmate, she shared same heartbeat with, still unknowingly left her a precious gift. *Spoiler* She got his blood flowing through her veins together (happened during 37 yrs. when Xiangliu nursed her back alive). That's how, she gains some power, can breath underwater. Infact, she will carry their bloodline forward. In a way, he's already one with her body, mind & soul. Xiangliu died loyal to his love & duty. Btw, no matter, how much Xiangliu did for others, he was still misjudged for being poor, orphan demon. Hope, author give Xiangliu justice, makes his hinted rebirth true, gives him life without any burdens.

No offense. Tushang Jing same as novel in drama has no character growth. XY & FFYY solved Jing's problem. XY pretend to be mistress to clear his name while his wife FFYY died taking TJH away, solved problems of rich family disputes between brothers. XL saved his life. Throughout story, Tushan Jing behaved pitifully, mopped around XY uselessly, with single expression. His influence even made XY looks weak & regressed. Performance & chemistry wise, Dengwei lacks compared to other professional lead artists. Infact, he's the only one, doesn't use his voice. In end, doesn't matter who XY endsup with. Epilogue: Xiang Liu is getting ready to go to his final battle but before he does, he carves a doll which resembles what Xiaoyao looked like when he first met her - big bellied and laughing. It is to be given to Xiaoyao as a wedding present but by someone else. He creates a crystal ball to go inside the doll in which there is a tableau similar to the last poison gift Xiaoyao sent him before her intended wedding to Feng Long (see Chapter 31) but this time the mermaid holds hands with a smiling man and the merman still in the distance. He carves his wishes for Xiaoyao into the crystal ball - “the ability to take care of yourself, someone to rely on, a place to go - wishing you a lifetime of worry free happiness”. He seals it inside the doll with his power to make it impenetrable. After he sends off the doll, he thinks that he has tried his best to make those wishes come true - teaching her archery to take care of herself, she has someone to rely on, she can wander the world without worries. Now that he’s not going to be around to watch and protect her, he hopes she’ll take good care of herself and be worry free and happy.
Season 2 is ended in a rush. Xiangliu has the least scene but captured our heart most. Its said, she may never know how much Xiang Liu love her and did for her. There's a 2nd epilogue too, hinted towards his rebirth in some clan. I don't know if its published. I hope writer continues it and give justified happy life to XiangLiu in his next birth soon.
