Yeah, they are different person. Basically, I meant to say, 2 important person of her life (Xiao yao's mother Xilling Heng and Xiao yao's soulmate Xiang Liu) died. So its not a 'happy ending' for her indeed.

No. Her mother and Xiang liu are different person (though their dedication in love are same strong). XY's mother has survived from previous (prequel 'A Life Time Love') battle and somehow alive as a tree form. (Yes, its shown in season 2) She dies after finally met XY while Xiang liu died after making sure XY is alive and safe. She got a bittersweet ending with an extra lover, Its understandable why author never certified novel as happy ending.

Who she endup with is Tushanjing after XiangLiu saved him from sea monster and saved XiaoYao by sacrificing his another life when she died again by poisoning. She gets a bittersweet ending as her mother and soulmate Xiang liu dies.

Exactly. Tong Hua (author/producer) never clarified story as 'happy ending'. She naively endup with man, whose influence fuels her weakness cause of her psychological traumas. Jing's loyalty & love failed the moment, he married FFYY and accepted her child. His shady deals shows, he is quite capable. He was groomed to be clan leader, but fails. XY pretends to be mistress to clear his name and his wife died taking his brother away. Both women was made an utter joke. He even left his orphan son behind. So, men like him (no matter however rich) are absolute worse. Their false sense of securities, shallow promises, has many women faces dilemma, lives in depression on name of love in real life.

That's baffled me too. Noticeably, same as novel, TushanJing basically did nothing, mostly mopped around her, with single expression throughout story. No offence, but Dengwei acting and expressions are comparatively dull. Upon that he's dubbed by other. In both seasons, Xiaoyao & Xiangliu are the record breaking characters, topped various charts. So, I don't know, on what criteria or basis Dw's over-rated. Its so fishy. Seems his backers are really good.

In main leads, only TushanJing actor DengWei didn't use his voice. Aside from him, Yangzi (Xiaoyao) Tan jianci (Xiangliu) and Zhang wanyi (CangXuan) voices are original. Zi & Jianci even sang there OSTs themselves.

That's great. Yangzi and Tan jianci given phenomenal performance, and continuously topped various charts both seasons. They deserves it.

I guess, other lead sacrifices would matter if their favorite have done more than just moping pitifully. Its fact, Jing willingness meant nothing. Its not others faults, if he remain incompetent throughout whole story. (SPOILER) XL saves them, XY pretends to be mistress to clear his name while FFYY died taking TJH away, solved problem, common in rich family for inheritance in brothers. XY saving grace is XL taught her to be strong and her beautiful portrayal by Yang Zi. Once, XY said that only 2 types of person can get her, 1st who is 'everything' and 2nd who is 'nothing'. That's what happened. She lost 'everything' and got man with shallow promises & kindness. So, in end, it doesn't matter who she endup with. She already lost too much. YZ said in her farewell for XY to be 'Strong & Free' in life. She knew her character most. Ik, season 2 is disappointing but, story main theme remains prominent just as its title 'Zhang Xiang Si' indicates.

Wish they could air more than 2 episodes per day. Yuan Mo and Sifang Pavillion bunch are really fun to watch. A must watch IQIYI quality drama with brilliant performance by Tan jianci. Its exciting. Just want to keep watching it continuously.

TSJ is same as novel. There's no switch in his scenes. TSJ did all those things, *SPOILER* selfishly bound XY in 15 yrs. promise, fails to solve family problems, then married FFYY, accepted her son, but still followed XY everywhere. After Maze Attack, he remain in coma for 37 yrs. Throughout novel/drama, TSJ is indeed least impactfull, active character. Production tries to show him useful. In S2 added, cave scene, but cut fight scenes where TSJ lost 3 tails. It's still XL, who saved him & XY. He left with XY after making FFYY's son as his family successor.

Major changes includes, XL made 'Special lead' in drama, (who's originally one of novel main 3 MLs) while CX and XY scenes in S2 shown as 'Dream sequence'. XY, XL and CX various scenes are cut & changed. That's why, drama adaptation lacks compared to novel.

XiaoYao, Xiang liu and Cangxuan are most impactfull, strong and active characters. In drama, production tried to tone down their potential and many scenes were changed, cut, etc. They even made Xiangliu a special lead in drama, who originally is one of the main leads in novel. Comparatively, Jing is a dull and weak character. He gets fl from sideline on help of other lead hardworks & sacrifices, same as novel.
