i'm debating on whether I should watch love of the divine tree or legend of the female general next. please help…
Oh dang LOTDT for the win. It's really well-written. The cp is one of my favorites ever! Prob the most equal pairing I've seen too! I see ur watching it now btw. How are you liking it?
Despite my rant below I overall really enjoyed this drama. The first half was actually really fun to me. I have seen many who seemed to not like it tho so I guess I'm lucky. Tho I gotta say whenever we were in the Demons' Valley... I just found it boring. What I loved about this first half was the mini story arcs of different characters which led up to the pieces of the Kunlun Mirror. They were honestly so good and really touching. They all brought me emotions. A Li, Zixiu (Taotie), the Dreamshard Immortal. Their stories I felt were told really well. Their arcs intrigued me. It def led up to the second half's story too. I liked it. I am so sad they all died tho tbh. I would've liked to have them longer tbh. I even immensely enjoyed the bond Xiao Yao and Bing Zhu shared. So what we see of them in the second half? I hated it. Bonus: Not in the first half but I really loved the bromance arc btw Jin Jr and A'Tai as well! I wished we saw them longer lol.
In the second half we finally get to see more of the main couple. I still think they should've developed their feelings well, at least for Xiao Yao. It felt all of a sudden with her feelings. But despite this I liked how they grew as a pair. It was so nice to see the FL go back in time to her different lives. I esp loved the first life they had lived tgt (final arc). It made me feel even more for Hong Ye's character than initially. Smth I still would've changed about going back tho was the FL losing all her memories and only living in the past timeline. It felt so confusing that she had her memories esp bc wouldn't it be possible for things to change (which ik didn't)? I still think it would've made me feel even more for watching their past. It felt like they were telling us the present FL's past lives are actually not different ppl at all but just the FL in her present life which doesn't look like it should be the case here. So yeah, I would've preferred her having no memories as it makes much more sense. It just felt lowkey strange to see her present self adjust into the past like that yk?
But anyways, this was really an amazing drama actually. I wasn't even expecting much but was still looking forward to it and it indeed beat my expectations! Def worth my time.
For some reason I didn't want the three great demons to die. I kind of grew attached to them (tho I still can't forget how Ao Hen bullied Hong Ye basically so I would've honestly liked a sense of regret and apology to him...). Their deaths felt too quick and unrealistic considering how powerful they were. It was like killing them for the sake of killing. Ugh. Hated how that was executed. Felt really rushed too.
I really hated how terrible Bing Zhu became like it just felt OOC all the way thru the second half esp as we spent so much time with him and Xiao Yao in the first half and then he only got a guest appearance in the second half oof. It just felt so off, not to mention Xiao Yao's reaction didn't feel as big as it should considering how close she was to him for awhile. I think he needed to die tbh. How they ended his arc was not it. He did bad bad. Like why was we willing to follow Pianpian? He maybe is controlled in some way but it doesn't feel like he completely is. He had a choice and he chose this. It feels like he just does bad things bc of her ugh.
Where did all his righteous character go which we saw building up so well in the first half as he spent time with Xiao Yao? At this rate I just wished he only stayed with Xiao Yao and had no ties with Pianpian. I just felt she was such a good influence on him. Should've stayed this way. Anyways, at least he reunited with his sister I guess. She should've came earlier tho to stop him from becoming like this. But this is still weird bc she ended up in Pianpian's body like... I wished it was done differently but oh well. I gotta say I am really happy Pianpian died tho. I hated her guts! He should've never been in ties with her. He was better off without her.
And Bing Zhu should've been punished. What kind of ending was that for him? He gets to reunite with his sister and live off happily after what he's done? How come our main cp didn't punish them? It felt so wrong to let him go just like that. And I thought Xiao Yao became close to the three demons esp after going back to the past. She really didn't seem to have much of a reaction tho when she found out they died because of him. Writing just feels off at times really.
100% agree, all the typical tropes with same xianxia characterizations.the story is really badly written. the…
Haha since u dropped it let me say Bing Zhu turns 180 degrees. Character feels way OOC esp when his role felt more like a guest role in the second half. They didn't develop himself going evil well. It was so bad imo. And all this bc of that one girl. Hated it. Also u prob would've ended up possibly liking the three great demons appear in the last 10 eps. They were interesting and made the drama more fun. I get dropping it too even tho I enjoyed this one LOL.
In the end it wasn't Hong Ye who was bad. Those three great demons? They're telling us that what Hong Ye did was…
There are those who messed up who had their karma if ur happy about it. The three great demons were in fact sealed for thousands of years (tho I don't think it was deserved besides maybe Ao Hen in some way). In the end they were killed by Bing Zhu which I personally didn't like at all. Bing Zhu should've indeed got his karma. His character felt way too off with the way he turned out too like... And then Pianpian met her demise and we were lucky to see Bing Zhu's sister come back, the positive person she was b4 she died. It's sad bc her brother turned out so bad which she didn't want. Bing Zhu should've indeed been punished.
In the end it wasn't Hong Ye who was bad. Those three great demons? They're telling us that what Hong Ye did was…
I avoid comments bc I'm afraid I would get spoiled tbh. I'd rather one reply to me within the ep I watched only. So good thing I read this after I finished. So I know everything now unlike b4 and agree that he should be responsible for what he's done :)
I can understand why the three demons hate Hong Ye more... Like man is he pretty much destroying his future kind which is honestly so so bad. He's really pitiful tho bc of how demons treated him so I understand him but it doesn't excuse what he did, nor does it excuse what the demons do to humans, esp when u think about what Ao Hen did to Hong Ye omg that was too much... So honestly, it goes both ways. I just know Hong Ye will hate himself for what he did. Not to mention he's a demon himself in the present timeline... So sad π
In the end it wasn't Hong Ye who was bad. Those three great demons? They're telling us that what Hong Ye did was unforgivable? Uhhh what they (Ao Hen and Teng She) did to Hong Ye was already terrible enough, esp Ao Hen. Idk how they thought Xiao Yao would perceive Hong Ye differently when I would also understand why Hong Ye would do bad bc of what he went thru bc of them... I bet Xiao Yao will understand him too and won't be in the other demons' side like they had hoped.
Oh right... And now I get why the three demons were sealed... It makes so much sense bc what they did to Hong Ye was unacceptable and too much (well idk about Qiong Qi yet but he better prove me wrong)!
Y'all when do you think this is coming? Bc I wanted to watch both their other dramas tgt b4 this. I finished One and Only last month which was amazing (but so heartbreaking) and will prob end up starting Story of Kunning Palace soon since it looks like this one might come soon? π«£π«
I still can't believe the plot twist of Xiao Yao and Ning'an... Like all this time it was her and it wasn't truly her intention bc she was controlled as a puppet? Like this is crazy π
One question tho... If this is what actually happened in the past why didn't we see her actually kill herself with the sword? Judt bc she changed it? I thought this was intended to show exactly what hsppened in the past.
I loved Bing Zhu in like the first half but dang he feels so OOC lately like wtfrick he was my fave character but not anymore (and they better make him better again or give me smth to like him like I did initially)! I was initially into Pianpian and Bing Zhu's dynamic but nahh I can't... Bing Zhu needs to get away from Pianpian now bc like whatever is controlling her I can't understand bc it's like she's allowing it or what... I thought she was getting better. Bing Zhu was so much better without her. Anyways, I hope my rant doesn't age well lol.
There's a bromance btw Dylan Wang and Wang Duo? Sign me up! I legit just finished GOTD and my next drama ended up being TUS and now TBL (for its anniversary) which makes this crazier for me π
Bonus: Not in the first half but I really loved the bromance arc btw Jin Jr and A'Tai as well! I wished we saw them longer lol.
