Why? I did NOT want romance with Minghao's last leading actress at all, (but it was saturated and I couldn't finish…
Oh yesss Zhou Ye is my fave with him tbh! And fair enough with Lu Yuxiao. I didn't like them in the first 10+ eps but I gradually came to like them in the end bc it became a bit mor serious and not all about the back and forth scheming against each other (also not the biggest fan of romance (esp too many kiss scenes) bc it gets boring fast, so too much of it isn't for me either! But I ended up enjoying them more later on bc of their bond, growth, understanding each other, working tgt, etc. I understand you totally tho bc I initially felt the same :)

I didn't like Lu Yuxiao in MJTY too! Glad I'm not the only one LOL I will say she did well in her acting tho. But I gotta say my fave role of hers that I watched is def Blossoms in Adversity. That's prob a character u might end up loving for her.

Are you talking about FoF perhaps? Bc I felt the same. The bromance was just IT for me. Forcing the romance in wasn't it. Btw I asked this bc LITC was his last one and ofc that one has romance - loved the main cp in that one instead hehe.

Title Lost You Forever Spoiler
I've never seen friends look at each other the way XY looks at XL. Nor point out how their hearts beat as one,…
If you watched season 2, you might change your mind that the title is for Xiang Liu from Xiao Yao. It could be Cang Xuan to Xiao Yao, but since the main character is Xiao Yao, I think that title would be about her, so in my opinion, the title must be from Xiao Yao to Xiang Liu.

(Incoming HUGE spoiler for the ending of S2) Xiang Liu dies in the end and Xiaoyao was heartbroken. He removed their memories of the two of them from this mirror she had so she wouldn't be more heartbroken whenever she looks at it. This is what I felt the title was actually for in the end when we got to see how the drama concluded. There is a reason she didn't choose Xiang Liu, and I understand her, because of how it wouldn't end well between them both anyway.

But I agree with that other person that she truly loved Xiang Liu, not only as a friend. Tbh, I barely see this with other dramas where the main character likes another person who she doesn't end up with. Also, this drama is very complex, so you must've not really looked into their relationship as much as us other fans do. Oh, and fun fact. When Yang Zi asked who she would choose, she said she would choose Xiang Liu xD. Anyways, yes, to each their own ofc!

Btw I wrote something about their love comparing it to Romeo and Juliet for an assignment once. To make it short, she chose security over a passionate love (that would end in tragedy). Here, I'll share it:

"The different stories of female characters can influence the way they live. They all can bring upon different interpretations as we read into them and decipher what the story is telling through them, while taking in the outcome of the characters’ actions and decisions. There is the idea, for instance, about how women seek for love, and the way they seek for it which depends on their different circumstances in life. One interesting connection I found through a classical literature to a historical fantasy Chinese novel (inspired by Chinese mythology) that was adapted into a drama, is the female characters Juliet from Romeo and Juliet and Xiao Yao from Lost You Forever.

Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, as we all know it, falls in love with Romeo very quickly so that she becomes even willing to risk everything for him and to be with him. She is indeed young, which can cause her to be a bit reckless when it comes to love, though age at the same time doesn’t always have to do with this. Before meeting him, however, both their families had been each other’s rivalries. By chance, they met and fell in love without knowing this, but even despite learning it, they were still willing to risk it all to be together. Even when she lived in a world where these kinds of external factors could dictate her fate, Juliet was impulsive when it came to love.

Xiao Yao from Lost You Forever, on the other hand, seems to view love differently because of everything she’s been through. First, let’s talk about her parents. They loved each other very much. What is interesting about their story is that they are almost like Romeo and Juliet, where in the end, their life ended tragically because of this. In the end, Xiao Yao’s father was overthrown and betrayed, losing his position on the throne, while her mother was forced to marry another man for political reasons while she loved only her father deeply, forcing to take her own life to protect their daughter. This led to Xiao Yao orphaned. She spent years disguised as a man, naming herself Wen Xiaoliu, and living as a healer, wandering alone and learning how cruel the world can be. This is due to wanting to avoid the power struggles that come with her royal lineage. She lost her identity and spent years and years struggling to survive. With her past experiences, this has led her to learn not to trust easily anymore. For her, love isn’t just about romance. In fact, with the life she lived, she became sheltered and more guarded with her emotions, putting more value on freedom than anything else.

In the story, Xiao Yao has two that love her whom she also loved: Xiang Liu and Tushan Jing. In the end, who she chose reflects on her life experiences and emotions. First off, she loved Xiang Liu the most, and so did Xiang Liu love her. They were like soulmates. Unfortunately, due to their relationship being full of sacrifices that felt like an impossible happy ending for them, she couldn’t choose him. He is a warrior bound by duty, so being with him would mean a life of uncertainty. They were the ones that understood each other the most, so it is really heartbreaking for them. On the other hand, Tushan Jing was able to do anything for her, even when she wasn’t. He wanted to give her a peaceful and stable future and always put her first, even despite his family being against it. Although her emotions of love with Xiang Liu were very strong and more passionate, she chose security over it. In the end, she chose him because she knew that she could finally have a calm and steady life when being with him. To me, it’s really a heartbreaking decision that I can’t even imagine if it were me in her position, but it is one that makes sense for someone like Xiao Yao who has spent most of her life struggling to survive. In the end, she didn’t choose the one whom she loved passionately as she knew it would end tragically, unlike her parents and Romeo and Juliet, which was a difficult but understandable choice she made by herself.

Overall, we can see that women look for love in different ways depending on what they’ve been through and what kind of life they’ve had, as well as what kind of life they want to live and seek for. For Juliet, she falls in love with Romeo incredibly fast which shows that she wants an all-consuming kind of love. However, for Xiao Yao, with everything she’s been through, living a tough life for many years in her life even since her childhood, she just wants someone who makes her feel safe and understood. In the end, love can either set you free or hold you back, depending on the choices you have, or even don’t have. At the same time, despite their differences, both these female characters still ultimately longed for a life where love isn’t controlled by duty or status."
