I’m really satisfied with the fight scenes from start to finish, especially Cheng Yi’s! However, I wish the drama had spent more time on Li Chenzhou, Liu Suifeng, and the Power Gang’s backstories, and given more screentime to the Shenzhou Brotherhood instead of introducing so many unnecessary characters. That being said, The Journey of Legend is definitely worth watching even just for the wuxia scenes alone! 🔥🔥🔥
For a xianxia drama, this has a peaceful vibe when watching except for the demon arc. And it surely has the most kisses (20 ish I guess? All real kisses too, not just lip touching or those fish kisses) out of all the historical/xianxia/wuxia/xuanhuan dramas I've watched 💋💋💋. Not that I'm complaining! Everyone should give this a try, I'm sure you'll be smiling 😊
I started this with zero expectations, thinking it would be more of a comedy. But wow Wang Ying Lu is perfect for this role! She brought LTY’s character to life without coming across as annoying or immature. Kudos to Chen Fei Yu as well. I’ll definitely be watching this until the last episode ❤️
The first four episodes look promising, but I feel like the story leans too heavily on romance and humor. One minor thing that bothers me is how the FL is styled when she’s dressed as a general, her makeup looks too heavy, and she wears too many accessories like hair jewelry and ear cuffs, even her outfit is overly bejeweled.
While the story leans more toward He Yan’s personal journey after her life was stolen from her, I still feel it maintains a great balance between romance and military action especially considering the drama's genre is romance after all.
The chemistry between He Yan and Xiao Jue is off the charts! He’s a true green flag ML, he is calm, respectful, and never overshadowing the FL.
The battle scenes are superb, the camaraderie among comrades and friends is heartwarming, and the OST is captivating. Even He Yan’s male disguise was surprisingly convincing to me. She managed to look more masculine without relying on heavy female makeup, and her demeanor, the way she speaks and fights, made it feel more real. Zhou Ye truly nailed this role. Cheng Lei's acting is also undoubtedly solid.
After reading some comments from novel readers, I’m actually glad the drama chose to exclude the transmigration storyline. Keeping He Yan as herself in her own body, with her own memories, scars, and life achievements made it incredibly satisfying to see her reclaim her identity as General Fei Hong from He Rufei.
This will surely be one of my most favorite dramas of the year ❤️❤️❤️
The confession in Episode 29 has got to be my favorite out of all the historical C-dramas I’ve watched so far. The scene where Xiao Jue gives He Yan his jade pendant really struck me to the core. I can't even remember any lines from other dramas that moved me this deeply 😍
"Now, the moon is yours. You're the first one I taught swordsmanship to. You're the first one I tended wounds to. You're the first one I gave candy to. You're the first one I bought clothes for. You're the first girl I tried to comfort. You're the first one I covered for. Finally, I realize that in my life, the only person I love is you"
I came here and saw many bad reviews — and honestly, this has become quite common these days. People watch just…
I couldn’t agree more. For me, watching several episodes (mostly up to 10) is just a way to decide whether I want to continue or drop a drama, since as viewers we don’t know the full storyline yet. I also always wait until I’ve finished all the episodes before rating a drama. I think that’s the only fair way to do it
It’s a good drama with an engaging plot, strong cast and acting, dark cinematography, and a gloomy vibe that fits the story well. The fighting scenes were beautiful though I wish there were more. The ending felt unfinished, with some things left unexplained, which was a bit disappointing. The biggest miss for me was the main couple. Zhang Ling He and Esther Yu are both great actors, but they had zero chemistry here. Their scenes together were bland, and honestly, a bit painful to watch at times. On the other hand, the second couple (Gong Shang Jue and Shangguan Qian)'s chemistry was sizzling, and both characters were more interesting and unpredictable. I also really liked how well written the supporting characters were. Gong Yuan Zhi, Gong Zi Shang, Jin Fan, Young Master Yue, Young Master Hua, Xue Chong Zi, Xue Gong Zi, Han Ya Si, and Yun Que all added depth and personality to the story. It’s not a perfect drama, but it’s still a good watch. Definitely worth giving a try for future viewers.
In the last few episodes, with all the deaths in the imperial family, the real victims are the Crown Prince and Prince Rui. They never even wanted to be Emperor in the first place.
Such a breath of fresh air! An investigative story with a healthy relationship full of trust and support between the leads. No miscommunication, no misunderstandings, no unnecessary separation. I really liked the ending for all the protagonists, especially Yan Chi and Qin Wan. It differs from the book in a good way, and the Criminal Code reform tied up all the cases nicely 👏💯❤️
