In the novel they come together because they both resent Jianming's hold over them, sort of to console each other.…
I'm kind of making up my mind as I go and so far none of the dynamics give me butterflies. I think ultimately, I'll be fine whoever she ends up with but I also find the dynamic with the emperor sort of fun. At least so far. Since he still knows nothing about her. It might not be as interesting later. But yeah doesn't feel like a love dynamic.
I know everyone wants Haishi and Jianming together but I don't. He helped to raise her and mold her, now he wants…
I understand where you are coming from and it's not to my personal taste either and I agree that when you see someone grow up, it's impossible to see them romantically but i really like Fang Haishi and when you like a character, they're like your children, you want them to have whatever they want. In this case, FH really likes her master so i can't help but hope she gets what her heart desires. It's too sad to see her be sad.
In the most unexpected and twisted turn of events, I sort of prefer the idea of Fang haishi with the sadistic emperor? Not sure if this is a compliment to that psychotic emperor or an insult to the master...
I think she sometimes makes good points about the technical side of movie-making but as for plots, I never agree with her. Shows she praises usually have bad writing unless they are really big and popular shows that basically everyone loves. I learned not to rely on reviewer opinions the hard way( this one famous reviewer said negative things about a show and I almost didn't watch it because of that. Then I did watch it and it's my favorite cdrama ever!) Reviewers usually act very snobbish and think too clinically. A show should be enjoyable first. The rest comes second I think.
