exactly, the change would work if it was executed well enough! I didn't buy any of this either. :( It's why I wish she had her friends with her at times, Qiqi and even her maid, but she shut herself out from the world.
I have finally finished all the remaining episodes and while the ending is not a bad one for a C drama (I've seen…
Yass one of the queens has spoken. So glad you're done because I've been so curious for your thoughts as I took notes and have been working through my essay. LOLLL. I felt the last episodes almost made the show lose its magic for me. And I started wondering if they could have eliminated the story with the crown princess and crown prince to give way to 3rd prince and YS like you mentioned too. And then also eliminate some of the side plots. Like you said, from a writing point, some of these feel odd. I felt the show dragged too, because oddly of the way the scenes were executed with so much weird little plots. NN and even HBY even felt like different people to me...yes people change because of trauma, but not in the way the show portrayed them. I will die on the hill that they almost felt like completely different people, and the excuse of "because they matured and grew" is not one that is valid to me.
The Whole fire in the basement ,, get them all trapped and him getting out by some miracle was just more un necessary…
I still wish the drama did a better job executing this so I am with you that it did feel more like miracle with everything happening at once. I am still processing my thoughts but the later episodes were mehh. If someone has to break down the chronological pieces because it got lost in translation on the screen, that makes it frustrating for me :(
Just finished, my honest opinion :1) Part 1 was perfect and set the bar too high for me and Part 2 didn't live…
Ahhh, thank you so much for calling out the issues in the second part. I am on the same boat about feeling part 1 being practically flawless, and then part 2...major issues. I appreciate your insight and thoughts about #2-6 too. It's so frustrating and I am working on my review for the show too, but I may hold off on it as I take the time to process my rage over the latter parts of the drama towards the end, and also to see if there are any changes in the edits that will be released based on the regular program schedule.
Totally agree on the points you made of the positives of the shows. thank you for sharing!
I've reached the end of this heart-tugging, heart-wrenching, heart-warming drama. At various stages, there were…
If you ever decide to come back to express the things you wanted to say, I would love to read them. There is no pressure, but based on what you wrote, especially in the second paragraph, I get the sense that the things you write would be insightful and inspiring to read.
Was it a key part of the book? (from what I heard they tried to stay true to the books story as much as possible…
Yea, they have finished source material to work off of, which is what surprised me. Theoretically if they had 66 episodes to work with, I can see the story being very by the book, literally. But if is decided at 56, they could have excluded some things to tell a stronger story that would have ended on a high note. I can't say that about the ending at the moment...

Yea I wonder about the editing and if there truly is credible source of how the drama was slated for 66 episodes to fit in as much possible from the source material.
Yes, I felt that the 3rd Prince was not given the opportunity to shine or show his potential/across the court…
Yes. He has such great scenes when he shows up. Love his scenes with CSS too. I think they'd have been good friends given time. But it's too bad he was so under utilized compared to the Crown Prince and Crown princess storyline 🤦🏻♀️
Yes, this scene was disappointing in many ways. I read that NN saved herself with her special weapons which is…
Thank you so much for the friend request too~! I had planned to do the same. I think you can write a review without the novel's comparison, since the drama stands alone on its own. I think you've mentioned some great points throughout the discussion thread solely based on the drama itself. YES PLEASE, think about it! I plan to write a reallyyy long one with thoughts pertaining to the ending, because most of the show was so flawless, except the bits at the end frustrated me so much. But I am still gathering my thoughts and plan to come back to do so too.

I share these exact thoughts and so much frustration for a lot of the scenes at the end too. Are you planning to write a review, because I would love to hear/read your thoughts.
Maybe because he realized there was a very high chance the guards won't be able to keep the door open long enough…
whoa, a friend who brings in the Meyers Briggs. High five!
But I don't know about his scheming here, given his guilt too, as much as he wants to win her back, I think this moment is life and death, and I think it was more shock for him and relief because she ran into his arms? I'll have to think about this some more. I just wished they also executed this better! Like how everyone move out and then he can show up later and they have their moments together without an audience yet (ie. the guards and other people)

I think her role was supposed to be more from the novel with her schemes, but in seeing this, she could have been eliminated from the drama. Instead, they tried to cram in 4 more villains in (Luo Jitong, Lou Li, Wang Yanji, and Tian Shou) in the last moments. -___-
Agreed separation was too long. Why did no one summon him to the capital before????God so much heartache could…
I was actually a little confused on this part to be honest in regards to the seal. Despite taking the seal to command the army, who was it that he killed? He didn't have an army at the massacre, so was it supposed to be shown off screen or did I miss something? Because the seal was to have General Wan save people in that scene where CSS made the fake seal, and then LBY brought out his family's seal. Thank you for the insight.

I had major issues with how it was handled too despite it being his punishment. Given especially, how the emperor has been lenient with others, let alone his god son, who's actually the son of his BFF (best friend forever) Huo Chong.
