I guess agree to disagree? I think the male lead's story is stretched throughout the drama. It's also wrapped up in the female leads because they're connected, which is not a new concept. I do think the show focuses on the female lead more, and I can understand not enjoying that, but I personally did not mind which is why I think that people should come to their own conclusion rather than reading the reviews and writing the show off entirely. I truly don't think these type of complaints would be so frequent in reverse because that is what has been happening for years. Again, this is not uncommon.

I'm not saying people aren't allowed to complain about the balance of the show, but I don't think that imbalance makes it inherently sexist towards men and an issue related to gender inequality. I think it was just poor writing. And this is definitely not the worst a particular lead has been treated in a drama lol

This is a good show. The reviews are a little frustrating. For decades, many people did not kick up this much of a fuss at the power imbalance or sexism intertwined in the plots of almost every costume drama so far. It is incredibly common for male leads to be in high positions of power, the head of households, actual royalty, the most powerful being in the world, the female lead's literal boss. The female lead is often one step behind him, not as smart as him, not as strong, or not as well off.

This drama turns that dynamic on its head by allowing the female lead to keep up and even, at times, surpass the male lead. She commands respect and while she isn't faultless or perfect, she's ambitious, complex, and passionate underneath her cold exterior. The male lead is intelligent, funny, and has an endless supply of audacity. Because they're both so cunning it's creates a wonderful push and pull dynamic. They are well matched and have great chemistry. I do agree the latter half of the show drops the ball compared to the first half, but I still think it was an enjoyable watch, and I find claims that the show is sexist and promotes the oppression of men extremely ridiculous to be honest. Especially considering that several pivotal scenes challenge that very idea.

Aside from all that, the way the show explores sisterhood stands out beautifully more than anything. If nothing else, it's worth watching for that.

I'll also add that a show described as being LGBTQ can feature a variety of queer sexualities and identities. BLs are just that. Boy love. Sure they might throw in a lesbian side couple or in one specific instance I can think of, a gender fluid side story, but their storyline typically falls into the background and isn't very fleshed out. I've noticed a lot of LGBTQ shows will feature an ensemble cast that gets semi equal screen time, so it allows different kinds of relationships to really build.

For example, Pose or Gentleman Jack are LGBTQ shows. Heated Rivalry I would call a BL.

I would be mad too if we're hiding from zombies and the person next to me was yelling into a phone. I would also try and stop someone from airing out our hiding spot and announcing the exact location of our escape route to an unknown amount of panicked students. I too would be irritated if someone started screaming and getting hysterical about wanting to leave and save their dad. Like okay, leave then. Stop stressing everybody out 😭

Funny enough I agree with you and that's exactly why I say this. People rate dramas as if 5 to 10 is the only option which is why 7.3 stuck out to me. If a movie were a 7.3 on, just as an example, IMDb, I'd say hmm that's not too bad. But something that is a 7.3 on kisskh or Viki? I'm not watching that. If the 1-10 were actually used properly I would have a different opinion. But hey, it's not 7.3 anymore so I guess more people watched and enjoyed it.

The romance isn't really at the forefront of the drama which I can see being unexpected considering the synopsis mentions his crush on the FL. It's hard to explain because the crush is there, relevant, and reciprocated, but we spend more time with him and the demon. Personally, I was much more interested in that part of the story anyways. Also there's no kiss which again some people apparently just have to have lol.

The rating is why you have to take kisskh with a grain of salt lol. I've seen what ya'll rate highly and a lot of it is definitely worse than this movie. Is it a masterpiece? No. But 7.3 is crazy. It's a pretty lighthearted, silly movie with a bit of sadness. I'm assuming the hostility is largely coming from this new weird obsession with hating Yoon A who imo is not any better or worse than the average Kdrama/movie actress. I could see being disappointed with (insert the spoiler below), but personally I preferred it. To each their own on that front. Overall, to anyone who hasn't watched this movie and doesn't dislike Yoon A lol, you should watch it.

First JimmySea drama and I get the hype lol. The acting is acting. The chemistry is chemistrying.

There was a super brief line where they were talking about being a major shareholder and Pong tells Kan he should seize it first to prevent the husband from doing so. So I guess he has hospital shares and maybe that's the goal. Help the husband get rid of the wife, eliminating both when one dies and the other is arrested leaving him to take over? Idk.

I wish I could watch this for the first time all over again.

For anyone who is up to date on the show, does "harmonious pair" mean they get along upon meeting? This sounds interesting but I want to make sure. I'm looking for a new drama but need a break from the enemies to lovers/random hostility trope

They put crack in this show, I swear. I'm not saying it's a masterpiece, but it's so enjoyable and I like the characters and the pacing. I also like that they aren't holding back in terms of fight scenes. It's actually crazy how many general or combat themed dramas are stingy with the actual fighting. The fight scenes are fun too. I've seen people saying it's unrealistic that she's so strong because she's a small woman as if gravity has ever existed in this genre. If you guys want realism, you need to start with the flying assassins 💀

Loved the fashion show. Sometimes you watch a show and they try to convince you a character is talented but then the runway look has you like 🤨 lol but I actually quite liked Hikaru's vision
