My favorite thing about May I Help You, besides pretty much everything, is that every single time Dongjoo is mad at him or disappointed in him, Taehee looks like his life has no meaning until he can figure out what he did wrong and fix it so she's not mad at him anymore. It is a tradition that started in episode 2 and has never stopped since. He just can't say no to her hahaha. It is the most adorable thing to see him being so affected by how she feels about him tbh.
In episode 3 their alcohol abuse seems to at least catch up on them. Good.
6 episodes in and it is still a trainwreck, inclusive its super-alcoholic characters that solve/ignore. every problem getting shit-faced. Yikes. I dunno what i was expecting but it was not that. Dropped.
She was and still is pretty vocal with how she DOES NOT WANT to do a second season of it because shooting this drama took so much out of her mentally and physically that she is understandably not keen to go through the same draining process again.
i like the drama thus far but i also have the burning need to make a serial of appointments at the anonymous alcoholics meetings for all of these three women. Geez effing excessive drinking, much? Yikes. Love their friendship but i despise this glorification of the actual poison alcohol is.
Rewatching ...and wow the times where Taehee is confronted with the grief of other people, particularly the 100 million won wife in episode 3 and the apple husband in episode 4, now hits veeeeerrry different with the knowledge of his full backstory And i love how LJY reflects this in his expression that it goes/hits deeper, beyond feeling simple compassion for him (because in both these cases the people blame themselves for the loss of their loved ones.) Such a subtle detail that gains meaning only on rewatch/ if you know about what happened. 😭 😭 😭
(I really should finish my character meta about him and grief/guilt tbh)
The drama 20th Century Boy And Girl also has a group of three female friends and their friendship remains supportive and positive throughout. Be Melodramatic comes to mind here too.
And super cute, given that he feels responsible for ruining her day and cannot stand to see her sitting alone and sad in the cafe. Taehee's absolute need to cheer her up no matter how ridiculous it may look is the most adorable thing and so indicative to his compassionate character. Even more so that she gets to know it is him due to the scar on his hand. And the caaaaaake, oh gosh. He got her a cake. Normally Dong Joo hates cakes because her birthday is still the day her mother died, but she really liked that cake because it was from him, awww.
is it scary cuz it's about talking to dead ppl? what about the love story and the romance??
It is, outside its sparse supernatural element a story down to earth and about people. No geniuses, no rich CEO's or chaebol heirs etc instead both leads are normal people battling with what challenges life threw/throws at them and to take care of the people around them. Nothing about the drama is scary or creepy, it's story and plot is well written, heartwarming and relatable. The stories of the dead people are somber and you will need some tissues, but it never gets never depressing or super-grim. There's an apt deftness to how the show balances sadness and humor, the tonal shift never feels jarring. It is about missed chances and regrets, but also about the celebration of life, of healing and moving on (from grief, from trauma) and (finding) supporting (in) each other.
The leads' shift from bickering strangers to almost friends not quite lovers (yet) is very fluent and natural. Tae-Hee and Dong-Joo are *so*, *so* cute in their early stages of attraction and unconvincing denial. The actors have a great chemistry together and their flirting is one of the best I have seen (also thanks to lee jun young. This man is so expressive, you can see in each micro-expression what his character is feeling at any given moment. And you will *notice* when he starts to be smitten with FL, because this actor will let you know.) It is a bit awkward to witness in the best way, as if I'm 'interrupting something xD Their effortless dynamic fits in the way the characters and story are developed. Bit by bit there is peeled back more of their background, thoughts and personalities. Imo, this drama values its viewers time/investment, instead of infodump the plot all at once it gives careful hints and details that seem random at first but lead to a big "aha" moment later on. The stories of the dead are episodic and self-contained, but may help the leads to reflect on certain things in their life, and every episode builds up on prior events to take the characters further. Really impressed by how consistently good the writing has been so far, and hope they can keep it up.
I am really not sure which version I saw yesterday. I remember there was no bgm but I don't remember all the green…
You definitely didn't watch the Viki version and i think all "alternative" streaming pages took the faulty amazon version and published it as well on their sites.
Korean learner, here, hence i am quite apt to pick up on differences in korean by now. It is definitely a japanese…
it sounds like a japanese influenced accent to me, but as said i am not a native korean speaker and still in the midst of learning the language. So i cannot place it like i can with the accents of my own native country (germany)
I feel like most of the time, the grandfather doesn't speak Korean but Japanese. Is it a different dialect or…

Thank God that they finally brought in the romance plot in episode 3 because I was so bored to tears. The continuous…
lmao, same. It is the reason why i mostly watch it on 1,5-2x speed, because while i am interested in the revenge/changing history aspect, these scenes are way too long and boring.
Can anyone tell me why kdramas have been cutting short on the number of episodes? It was 18, then 12, then 8 in…
i feel it is better to make the episode count suited to the story they want to tell. Preferable to the one size fits all approach where they have to use a lot of filler to stretch out the story over 16 episodes. There will always be enough 16 eps kdramas, so i appreciate this trend of shorter shows tbh
When I watch ep 14, I feel like it's so empty. Then I realize that there's no BGM at all, then I immediately check…
Yeah it was a complete different watch on Viki from the start so I was confused as heck what people meant with it not being edited and music missing at first. Then I saw the version of it on dramacool and cackled 😂
This drama setting not smart. The producer and crew maybe not alert as we still can see the mic, the string that…
Amazon uploaded the wrong version which was still the raw edit. No such thing on Viki to begin with, and Amazon should have it fixed it by now. Beware if you are watching on dramacool or so because they took the faulty/raw edit version from Amazon.
I seriously though the safety wire tied to the FL was part of the scene, but then I was like, nah, it can't be…

Because just imagine you always had to watch dramas in the way/like the raw edit Amazon uploaded by mistake 😬😅😂
