How come the photo of the drama above shows them wearing what I think are high school uniforms but it is set in University not high school? I know China's school uniforms look different to Japan, but the photo made me believe they are wearing Japanese style high school uniforms.
Also how come the female lead here doesn't have a younger brother like in HYD, where Makino has one. The interactions in HYD with Domyoji and Makino's little brother were fun.
At the end, I realized that An still didn't remember Igarashi all this time. See I thought she remember something at the end of S1 but looks like she finally remember her childhood memories now. But I was disappointed we didn't get more focus on the "romance" plot. The first episode focused it on some then after that, not much. With An being more comfortable around Igarashi, they didn't have many moments close like in S1. All this time An was still trying to remember when I thought she did. Also An was leaving to America like Igarashi in S1. She mentioned at the end of S1 that she wanted to be better than Igarashi but Igarashi still outshined here her. There was a lack of character development for An. There will be a Radiation House The Movie next. There is also a Radiation House 2 special but I think it might be filler not enough to advance the plot.
We still need a closure between who ends up with who even though it will be predictable. I hope the movie finishes it up because I doubt they will make a season 3 to drag it. I am just afraid that An and Igarashi stay as friends or one will die based on the circumstances they are up against in the movie. They did kind of confessed their love at the end of the drama but they said they loved them as their profession not as the person yet. I hope that isn't the cheap way for the confession. Also we need Hirose to confess to Igarashi or else she will never and let An win. At least she needs to try like Tsujimura confessed to An.
Overall, I think season 2 was not as good as season 1. In S1, we see the progression of An and Igarashi as he tries to get An to remember him. She also noticed Igarashi and his outstanding work that helps her feel closer to him. In S2, we continue with the same formula, with more character/patient episodes that tell us more of a member of the radiation house team. But I felt that they toned down the focus on Igarashi in S2 compared to S1. Also S2 had the new director Haijima marching to them yelling at them blah blah blah. It got annoying that the episodes that he didn't appear, those episodes felt relaxing and better. But as always, the episodes delivered with a opening narration followed by a narration again that makes you feel you learned what the moral of the episode was about. Each episode felt touching.
I wanted more of the romance plot in season 2. The drama is more medical heavy but, when we were first introduced to Igarashi, the idea we thought of is that this will end up with them eventually being a couple. He doesn't keep his promise to An just because she is his friend. They need to finish this up with a real confession! Also a hug or a kiss would be welcomed as well. Radiation House 2 is still a good drama to me but I wanted more.
From episode 8 to the end, I skimmed most episodes because I couldn't take it anymore. The writing for this second season made me upset to watch.
So what happens after finishing everything? Shuichi dies from Yagami who stabbed him in the directors office. Shuichi was in his white suit getting ready to marry Aya. He still went to the church but fainted before he could marry Aya. Yagami was caught after all finally. But it was shown he was sent to a mental hospital not prison? What!? Takumi pushed him and Yagami into the sea and somehow the police didn't arrest him after rescuing them? But how was this criminal able to enter the hospital freely? This hospital lacks security. An episode before, Keiko pushed Aya to a moving car and Takumi does his best to jump from his wheelchair to save Aya. Aya was blinded for a while. Keiko wasn't arrested for attempted murder! How the heck are those 2 not in prison? So much disgusting acts by the villains in these last episodes that are unwatchable.
Aya is gonna attempt suicide on the roof of the hospital but Takumi and Koizumi talk her out of it. Thank goodness at least because Aya wanted to die whenever Shuichi did. Takumi had 2 presents again and similarly asked Aya to pick one. White rose or red rose determined Takumi's fate with Aya and Aya picked the one with a white rose this time. I think Takumi had both presents with white rose because he wanted Aya to go to Hokkaido on her own new adventure.
The ending is Takumi in his director's office with and Aya on the swing set back in Hokkaido. She is looking at the stats as if Shuichi is there telling her the story of the book. Takumi let Aya go because praying for her happiness is stronger than love.
The second season of Heaven's Coin let me down big not like I was expecting much. Takumi is easily the best character of the series. The second season has too much sickening and cruel things to happen to our main characters. The writing was bad here. I am still confused to what was the writer trying to get across for us to understand. I'm disgusted at how they handle the character of Aya. The 2 new characters this season Keiko and Yagami ruined this. Too much of their evil tactics overshadowed the story of Aya, Shuichi, and Takumi. Much more ridiculous things came out of nowhere that was revealed. Shoko was pregnant not with Shuichi's baby but some random person. The whole idea of who Yagami is the brother of was confusing and so stupid. As well as Yagami falling in love for Aya which I do not accept seeing at all. Koizumi and Keiko being suckered in by Yagami.
Aya, Takumi, Arai, and Rika were characters I liked in either season. I like that Aya was able to get the old Takumi back to being a doctor despite being handicapped. Takumi ended up being able to walk again because of the support from Aya. I wanted to watch more of Sakai Noriko's works after Under one roof and Takenouchi Yutaka is a favorite actor of mine that made me watch these dramas. They were the main reasons why I finished the series despite the writing being horrible.
I warn people to not watch this drama or the first one. The end route is not worth watching it all.
I'm so hyped for this drama. Matsumoto Jun and Ueto Aya in a drama together is gonna be great! I'm just happy to see MatsuJun in a drama again. It has been awhile
This episode might have sold me on rooting for Hirose and Igarashi. Hirose is the second best character in the drama behind Igarashi. I really like how Hirose connected with the patient in this episode Noa. It showcased growth of Hirose to becoming the radiologist technician she admired back then. Noa admitted the health problem with her and admitted that she admires Hirose as an adult.
Also this episode confirms that Hirose likes Igarashi. Hirose admitting that she loves "someone" is the biggest progress of the romance plot so far lol. I think in season 1, I cheered for An and Igarashi so much. An remembered Igarashi at the end so I thought they would seal the deal soon but it hasn't progress much. In season 2, there are moments when Hirose feels jealous you can say seeing An and Igarashi close together. That was a reason they mentioned to why Hirose was balding because of the stress she had when thinking of love. Season 2, they made me want to see Hirose and Igarashi be the couple instead because An hasn't done much for me in S2.
I dislike how watered down they made Igarashi's character in ways. When he isn't serious and caught up with the medical stuff, he feels like a worse comedy self than he was in season 1. When he and Tsujimura are fighting for An, it feels a bit cringe. I wished they had keep growing Igarashi's character more than making him daydream of An-chan at times. She didn't remember him in S1 so they felt like strangers. S2, she remembers him and we are waiting for something to happen. The ways Igarashi would get close to An and things he did that made her like or remember him slowly, were fantastic. There isn't much here in season 2.
I love me the song "Remember Me" by Man with a Mission and glad they used it again for season 2. But it doesn't quite fit the plot anymore lol. Remember me was meant to come across as Igarashi hoping An remembers her promise to him back then. She remembers now so now what lol.
This drama has become a mess yikes. Some positive things I can say why I am still watching this is because of Sakai Noriko and Takenouchi Yutaka.
The antagonist Yagami revealed that his younger brother is Takumi? Takumi and Shuichi are not blood related brothers. He and nurse Keiko the 2 new characters in season 2 are annoying. Keiko is replacing the Sonoko role as Aya's roommate but she is worse. She likes Takumi like Sonoko but what are her true intentions. She said she loved Yagami but I think at the end, it was a ruse to trap Yagami and his traps. But next episode, she kisses Takumi when Aya arrives at the apartment. I suspect Keiko forced the kiss as Takumi is handicapped. Sonoko got upset at Aya about losing Takumi to her but she apologized and was still nice and friendly to Aya. Yagami is playing mind games with Shuichi into decisions he makes. He hates Shuichi because he is the director that's not blood related!? Everyone is being played into the hands of the 2 villains.
So far, I like the patient that was hospitalized in both seasons. This time, Rika the daughter of a business owner is much better than the other new characters.
Takumi's mental state will probably get worse as the drama goes on now. He wants Aya to be with him since he is paralyzed forever meaning he can never walk again. He doesn't want to be taken care of by his brother but Aya. Before he wouldn't force or demand Aya, he accepted his fate that he wasn't meant for Aya. Now Aya feels the same that she has to be with Takumi even if it isn't happiness. Aya even says to Shuichi again how she doesn't love him anymore and she accepts money to forget Shuichi. Back and forth of who does she love. I'm sad that the old Takumi may never be upon us again because of this "accident".
I think I fear for a dark sad ending. Well I hope Yagami doesn't win in the end. I am afraid that Takumi might commit suicide for real unlike the rumors Yagami spread that were false. The sad part of this drama is to how Aya is being treated. I think Aya will never achieve her true happiness by being with Shuichi her true love no matter what. What Aya is doing for Takumi is not love but sympathy. And I like Aya and Takumi but together because of what happened, this doesn't feel right now.
The plot of the drama starts now based on what is listed above. Takumi was tricked into meeting some manager of the hospital they are building I believe. He enters the construction building and someone planted a error I think and Takumi suffers a big injury. Dr. Koizumi told Takumi to go there and couple minutes before, Dr. Yagami exited that building. Those two are the top suspects. It's a shame that Dr. Koizumi is blinded and falling for Yamagi compared to how she stopped doing evil tactics last season and valued saving lives.
At the bar, Shuichi tells Takumi he is resigning as director and appointing Takumi as the new director. He also is going to Hokkaido with Aya who at the time refused to go with him. Takumi asks if Aya feels the same and Shuichi lies to him by saying yes. Shuichi also states he is doing this to regain the version of him before the accident so Aya can be with him. This gives me more reasons to hate Shuichi. He is assigning his brother as the new director which he never asked if he wanted to. But the reason he is resigning is to steal his brother's love as well. Takumi is about to stab Shuichi's hand with a glass. He says that since Shuichi is stealing his most loved person or thing, it is only right to take away Shuichi's hands because he doesn't need to do surgery in Hokkaido. Takumi stops himself when Shuichi doesn't put up a fight and wants him to stab him. Takumi tells Shuichi he isn't his older brother anymore and screams that he and Aya can just go to Hokkaido.
Aya tells Shuichi she can't love him because she can't betray Takumi. There was also this message that they want to value of love can lead to sympathy but sympathy can't lead to love. Indicating Aya's relationship with Shuichi to one and her relationship with Takumi to the other. My problem is that Aya was choosing to stay by Takumi's side because she doesn't want to betray him not love him. Takumi does what a man should do unlike his older brother Shuichi, he sadly gives up on Aya. He tells her that she would happier with Shuichi and that he was fine enough with Aya telling her she wouldn't ever betray her. Takumi wants Aya to leave to Hokkaido with Shuichi and his baby son. This breaks my heart seeing them happy at the airport until Aya hears Takumi scream in her head. I like Aya but her holding Shoko's baby is kind of wrong. Shoko and her mom never apologized or accepted Aya anymore yet she was gonna take care of the baby. Well, Shuichi is to blame more for taking the baby from it's grandmother.
There is something about Takenouchi Yutaka's acting when he is angry. It makes me feel that it is realistic. The expressions he makes when he shows his anger towards Shuichi are deep. More reasons to love Takumi but feel sad that he is letting Aya go. So I think that's it, the drama is over. Aya, Shuichi, and the baby are going to live in Hokkaido with Takumi alone in Tokyo. Takumi's big injury happens and now what. As the plot stated, Aya will again be with Takumi because Takumi is seriously injured. But what will this accomplish? I don't think she expressed in sing language that she loved Takumi. She is only showing sympathy to Takumi which I feel sad.
One way I think this drama could end was that Aya is gonna die so the brothers don't hate each other and no one gets Aya. But in episode 4 we saw a glimpse of a potential end that wasn't. This felt like a ending to the drama with Takumi giving up on Aya. My prediction might happen still but I don't know how this is going now. How am I going to believe in Aya loving Takumi now when a lot was revealed.
As a Takumi-Aya ship, it has been a feeling of pain. In episode 2, Aya was in the apartment with Shuichi and the baby when Shoko's mom showed up. Aya expressed that she always had Shuichi in her heart the past year. Takumi hears about it and it breaks him. At the end of the episode 2, Takumi unleashes his frustrations punching Shuichi. He feels betrayed and played by Aya and Shuichi. He says out of anger why didn't Shuichi stopped Aya from leaving for Hokkaido a year ago so Takumi wouldn't have to go through this. Takumi thought Aya had forgotten Shuichi and this was his chance for his love of Aya to win her over. This is one of those times where I feel sympathy with the person who uses violence. Aya doesn't stop Takumi from punching Shuichi because I think she doesn't deserve to. Takumi tells both of them are despicable. He tells Aya while crying and using sign language that he believed in Aya from the moment she shed tears to Takumi. Shuichi looked like he was dead on the ground after those punches. I want to give props to Takenouchi Yutaka's acting of expressing himself here. He is full of sadness with anger at the same time. He is trembling with them as he punches Shuichi and then tells Aya. His face movement and tone was believable. Takumi is the character we should be feeling sympathy for and cheering for.
After waiting for all episodes to be subbed, I am finishing this one up. I finished episode 5. First half of the episode was a bit more comedy but the second half with the serious drama issue. I like the mix of it. They didn't have a patient this episode but more focus on Onodera chief and the team. My favorite moment of the episode is at the end where Chief Onodera says "the world isn't about money". He then receives a message from his son about the rent he has to pay which he says "the world is about money after all". That was a great way to implement some comedy at the end that wasn't cringe to me. One more thing, when the director Haijima said to cut someone from the team I thought cut Tanaka if you have to. He was only added to the team last episode of season 1 because Igarashi was leaving.
Five episodes through, the romance progression of Igarashi and An hasn't progressed as much as I like. If I can remember right, Tanaka and Dr. Tsujimura are chasing for An too. I think so far I think of how the moments Igarashi thinks to himself of An and moments he gets to be with her feels not as loved as last season to how An didn't remember Igarashi yet. I really don't like the Tanaka character being involved in chasing An with Igarashi and Tsujimura.
Hirose might play a role later on between An and Igarashi. She seems to like Igarashi too but I need to see more to believe it. The drama is more focused on the medical stuff but hopefully some episodes later on focus on the relationship between the 3. We need some moments between An and Igarashi like last season when An was drunk and laying her head on Igarashi at the park or she was hospitalized and Igarashi took care of her. For Igarashi and Hirose, they spent more time last season due to both being newbies.
I also want to add how Dr. Kaburagi was a nice antagonist you can say last season compare to Dr. Haijima is. Haijima is more serious than Kaburagi but Kaburagi was more funnier and had more heart like scenes with his family. It is nice to see Dr. Kaburagi be a ally to the radiation house team now.
So far season 2 of Radiaiton House hasn't excite me away as season 1. But I hope it gets better towards the end.
I finished episode 1 and lots of stuff that happened. A year passed to we see Aya and Takumi outside on the swings with Takumi reading a story to her. He planned fireworks for Aya and they kiss. Takumi has more knowledge in sign language know. Takumi and Shuichi have switched roles compared to the first episode of season 1 but not for long. I loved the moment when Takumi hands Aya two gifts containing a red and white rose. If she picked the white one, Takumi will give up her love for Aya. If she picked the gift with the red rose, they get married. Aya chooses the gift with the red rose inside and Takumi celebrates because they are getting married! Aya opens the other gift to find a red rose realizing Takumi wanted her to pick the red rose all along playing dirty. I thought she would get mad but nope and they danced! Yay!
The major thing that happens is that Shoko dies in the first episode. It seems strange to why kill her off in the first episode of season 2 instead of the last episode of season 1. The baby from Shoko survives but not her. I hated Shoko's mom for slapping and releasing her anger on Aya at the funeral for blaming her of Shoko's death. The second half of the drama lets me down. Takumi and Aya are likely staying in Tokyo. I fear that without Shoko around, Aya's feelings for Shuichi will return and Shuichi will fall in love with her as well. Still the baby plays a key factor unless Shoko's mom takes care of it and Shuichi is free. I think it's wrong to end the story with Aya and Shuichi end up together after all because Takumi gets hurt. Aya and Takumi are on the verge of marriage and these events happen. Also Aya didn't tell Takumi that she was with Shuichi the other day so Takumi might not trust her anymore. Takumi shouldn't sacrifice his love to Aya for her to end up with Shuichi now that Shoko is gone even if they were meant to be together.
A new character arrives and probably the antagonist of the show. Dr. Yamagi who did in fact kill Shoko on purpose. I thought it was a accident but the nurse had the evidence which she later did not anymore. Yamagi is recruited to the hospital by Shuichi and I sense danger coming.
Alright I'll provide updates along the way to see how the story plays out along with my reactions.
Finished. I am gonna continue with the second season. Something tells me if I want the "happy" ending I should stop after this one. Aya doesn't get to be with her love Shuichi at the end. I think a plot twist would be she and Arai the guy who was hospitalized was the real couple to cheer for and they end up together after all. He, Aya, and Takumi were the most likable characters I enjoyed.
Towards the end two of the characters had similar actions of love. Takumi's mom and Shoko both reacted in similar ways when the person they loved rejected them. At least Takumi's mom went to prison for killing Komori and kind of realize love after all. But Shoko is just a sick woman. She caused the amnesia for Shuichi and felt bad so she was his caregiver. She later fell in "love" with him while he had no memories of his past thus tricking him that played to her advantage later on. When Shuichi regained his memories, he was already engaged to Shoko. Then Aya has to try to erase her feelings of Shuichi because of the baby Shoko has. Aya doesn't want Shuichi to abandon his kid like Aya's parents did. I didn't pick Shuichi to end with Aya but I feel terrible for him that he is now forced into this marriage that he will have to learn to love. The baby is the factor that forces Aya to not achieve her happiness.
At the end Aya is back in Hokkaido at the clinic she was at in the beginning. Takumi is the new doctor there. Why not Takumi? I really loved Takumi's character development throughout the drama. He is much more suitable to be Aya's chosen one if she chooses then before. But after reading the plot of season 2, I don't have much hope for Aya and Takumi.
I finished it and it reminded me of Code Blue with the doctors and nurses going to the places to treat the patients. But MER gets a ambulance like car that they can do surgery in while Code Blue has a helicopter. Also MER has jackets that I very much love the designs. I loved the different situations of the emergency's they dealt with while saving the patients.
I would have enjoyed this drama much more if they got rid of the politics in it. I wish that each team member got more detailed episode focus on them. Some didn't get as much focus as others.
I was kind of let down at the last episode because I was expecting for a big disaster to happen. It felt weak for what the Terrorist planned at the end. I was confused to why Kitami would save the terrorist again but maybe this time he made sure he was caught than before I guess. As a doctor, would you save the person who killed a loved one still? I was wondering who or what would make Kitami motivated again to keep going as the MER captain and it was his ex-wife Chiaki. I forgot about her and I thought that maybe in the movie, they can get back together. It would be a nice happy ending for them and I bet Suzuka would have loved it.
I think that if Suzuka wasn't killed off, she and Otowa would have had a good chance of becoming a couple. It was hinted at times in the second half but sadly she died. Otowa's character progression of a hatred towards MER to acknowledging that MER is needed was great.
I know there is a movie next but I can only hope they make a second season as well. I'd love to see more of the TOKYO MER team in action.
Episode 10 update: At the end, Aya still loves Shuichi and they were gonna meet at Tokyo tower but not. Shoko…
Ok now this is a mess and making my head hurt. Shoko is the factor into Shuichi and Aya's happiness. Shoko is really a crazy woman who needs help. She will attempt to kill herself if she doesn't get to be with Shuichi. Not only thag but she is pregnant with Shuichi's kid. So Shuichi is now forced to marry Shoko thus ruining his and Aya's happiness. Unless he can find a way out of this, Aya who is deaf doesn't get her happiness granted. There's also the who gets to be the next director side plot but who really cares. I don't get why Shuichi and Takumi's mom wants to be the "director's" wife so badly.
Episode 10 update: At the end, Aya still loves Shuichi and they were gonna meet at Tokyo tower but not. Shoko upset about being turned down from Shuichi, she attempted suicide. I loved that Takumi and Aya were spending moments together this time Takumi as a changed good person. But damn she still loves Shuichi. I don't think it's fair for Shuichi to ditch the engagement with Shoko to "steal" Aya from Takumi. I want Aya to love Takumi but she isn't still. Takumi the little brother that gets outshined by Shuichi his big brother. Takumi was forced to be a doctor eventually be the hospital director but he didn't take it serious. The positive outcome where he was "blamed" of the surgery incident has changed him to a better person than before at least. He is more calmer, hard working, and caring especially for Aya. It's bad enough that Shuichi remembers his memories but loved the same woman as his little brother does.
I watched 2 episodes so far. They want us to cheer for Aya and Shuichi to be the couple. Problem is that there isn't much background to why I want to root for them. The first episode started off with them in the clinic and Aya throwing a fuss thinking Shuichi was doing some naughty things with his female patient. He suffers an injury from an accident when a women rushes on the escalator causing both to fall which he hits his head hard on the ground causing amnesia.
Shuichi lost his memories but what memories are we supposed to know and remember about he and Aya. As Aya travels to Tokyo to find Shuichi, she meets Takumi. They hit off wrong but she helps him save a patient and so far thinks better of him. Takumi isn't the brightest man, but I can sense that he will change by falling for Aya. And that makes me want to root for Aya and Takumi now than what the writer wants me to root for Aya and Shuichi.
Based on the reviews and comments from others on here and other websites, people disliked this more than in the middle. But I am gonna watch both seasons because I started to like Sakai Noriko and this is one of her few main roles in a drama.
I like that she ended up with Mamura. I felt that the movie was rushed. There wasn't much to convince me that Suzume and Mamura should end up together. Like I wanted more than just the interactions as desk mates and being lost in the woods. I would have liked to see more of them together prior to one telling they like them.
Seeing Fukuyama Masaharu and Oji Megumi in this drama reminds me of Chii nii chan and Koume from Hitotsu Yane no Shita. Whenever I see the cast of Hitotsu Yane no Shita in a different drama or film, I'll always think back of those characters.
