Yes, I always prefer a light hearted drama, as I use it more to unwind after a days work. These heavy ones makes me want to jump in the screen and beat the bad guys / girls myself. I can endure a heavy one if I know it ends well.
I will check "Sand Princess" out. Jo Youngpil's handling of the family and the SML feeling for the FL is top-notch. Of course, he was jealous, but he handled it with class. Might I also suggest "Hi Venus"? It is a Cdrama, and ML is also a green flag. What I liked the most was ML's relationship with his mother.
Thank you for saving me a lot of hours. The recent avalanche of simp/ doormat ML in recent dramas makes you wonder what is better a toxic ML or simp ML. Can they create a ML with backbone (e.g. Hi Venus) ML.
Not gonna lie this year is year of Simp . First it was " Welcome to Samdali" ( FL was selfish leave him dated…
You put it perfectly "year of the simp ML" They create the persona of the ML like it is a unicorn. another one is "I May Love You" ML rejects the FL, FL forcibly kisses ML after stalking the ML and quits. Then ML does everything to win the FL back. The Fl is suddenly unsure if it is ok to have a relationship with the ML the same person you practically stalk. So I agree with your post. In most of the dramas, there is a more adequate SFL (sometimes even better looking) without the baggage that can fit in the life of the ML without the Ml having to jeopardize his life, business or career. Let hope that for the rest of 2024 the ML and FL are more balanced.
Thank you for your review.
