Is it just me or the actor who played as Prince Suolan, also known as the weak main antagonist, is bad at acting? Lol. Idk but they could have chosen someone who didn’t look like a kid on his tyrant fit.
Anyway, I always knew General Tang wasn’t someone who dabbled in conspiring to usurp the throne but like, he is indeed not a good leader in general. I remember commenting here before about how weak of a war strategist he was. The dude really just had a very weak foresight tbw which is lame tbh but it is what it is. Smh!
I actually enjoyed that scene between Yang Mi and William in the Jifeng Pavilion. I feel like they did great in that scene not knowing whether ML would get through the night. But I do agree with the comments below that William did quite lack in his characterization of ML. Could’ve been more solid honestly!
As for the emperor dying, well... I actually expected it. I got it wrong though as I thought Tilan and their child would survive. But at least, I think it’s humane of them to make him just die with Tilan instead of him surviving and once again, experiencing the torturous cycle of having persistent guilt and being mad of himself and the world to witness his lover die right before his eyes again. It’s tragic for the kid though but like, his death was in a way a freedom for him finally. As for Tilan, they probably killed her character off because she is just too weak to be an empress dowager. She lacks the knowledge and the guts (she’ll be fully schemed at and dethroned by usurpers fast) to be that figure for Danzheng so scriptwriter choosing her death route was actually understandable than my initial prediction of her surviving.
A series with flawed plot (plot holes probably so apparent as the comments below said the production was initially set with 56 (wow?) episodes so no surprise a lot of scenes where edited out) but overall, I did enjoy the cinematography so much and the fact that it wasn’t draggy. Also, props to the fight scene choreography. They did it so well in this series. Generously giving this a 9/10 because I got entertained fr!
I first saw her in ELOD but her character didn’t really capture my attention as I skipped her scenes with Lian Song since I didn’t see the chemistry. Novoland, however, made me see her shine as an actress. She was amazing and I’m fascinated with how she is able to shed a teardrop so beautifully.
Watching Untouchable Lovers rn and she is such a cute scene stealer. I was curious to see how she is doing and seems like she’s not getting the scripts she deserve as what is stated here in the comment section? Anyway, hoping she’ll win a good script for herself next year!
OMG ME TOO! I love her! She’s making it impossible not to. Idk why there’s a little hate on her cold character…
I actually like her character in LAN. I prefer it over her other princess-y characters before (I dropped two from her) so I didn’t have much expectation when I dived into this series. But yeah, I got surprised to see her role here and tbh, I think she suits this kind of roles. I mean, I get that her character is pretty much frustrating especially with the way she handles her lovelife (though understable too) but as a career woman, I actually enjoy how she leads her team. I haven’t watched any of their bts clips but it’s nice to hear that they are comfortable offscreen. :)
The master has asked haishi to kill general tang on epi 13 flashback. So it means general tang is a spy from enemy.
Wait! Did I miss something? In her flashback, Lord Qinghai told her to protect General Tang instead. I think he said to kill the informant even if it’s from their side, but her top priority is to look after General Tang.

I’d prolly put it on my PTW list too if they are from opposing camp like ‘General and I’ but like rn, I’m hoping to watch another series where both have the goal of protecting the ‘same’ empire/tribe/whatever.
E14: Omfg! That battle scene was so intense and done so artfully. I enjoyed watching it so much and Haishi is indeed a great and valiant soldier.
Btw, is it just me or I don’t find General Tang that great of a war strategist? For someone who has been alerted by Haishi’s squad about the enemies’ route in advance, his defense formation was not great at all. Like, I know war deaths and casualties are inevitable but even so, I feel like he was too unprepared. If not for the reinforcement, they would be invaded with that lousy defense he commanded in the gate area like who defends the gate like that? Anyway, the heroine saved them big time. Lord Qinghai and her Jifeng pavilion brothers must be so proud!
Him in a modern series is just a visual feast! I always thought he’s a good looking man seeing his roles in costume series but him in suits and glasses. Man, he is looking extra dapper!
