i actually really enjoyed this drama despite the fact that i cried. a lot. (man, netflix wasn’t kidding with the intense emotional scenes warning.)
although our main leads’ first loves were painful, i’m really glad that they found each other. i never stopped rooting for them.
i, for one, also appreciated that the fl expressed her feelings, especially since she was unable to do so in regards to her first love.
i couldn’t help but smile whenever the main couple smiled at each other. yes, they were super awkward with one another but it made for a very endearing watch as they started to fall in love.
this drama evoked a lot of feels, flails and tears but it was exactly the kind of drama i was looking for. although i’m not the biggest fan of love triangles—and this drama featured two, no less—i take less issue with this portrayal as i feel like it’s presence never really detracted much attention away from our main leads.
and while we’re on the topic of the supporting cast, they didn’t leave much of an impression on me. i usually enjoy watching the camaraderie of friendship almost as much as the romance, but i guess in this particular instance, it was somewhat marred by the... shall we say, self serving nature that some, more than others, possessed.
there’s a positive i’d like to add, which is the fact that the manipulation and sabotage we usually do see in drama land was practically non existent. relatively speaking, they were portrayed as more real—albeit flawed—characters.
tl;dr—it’s features some emotional scenes but the main leads are sweet together and hurray for a happy ending after all that heartache.
p.s. i know absolutely nothing about music so i’m unable to comment about that aspect of the drama.
Agree with you but I'm also happy that her character is not the typical doormat and does speak up for herself.…
yeah, i find her character a little confusing and a little inconsistent, i guess.
like, how she accused ml of deleting her report bc she’s been burned by him in the past. like, why didn’t she apply the same kind of scepticism towards her roommate re: the whole costume incident?
i feel like this is not the only instance in which the writers have been somewhat sloppy in the plot. like, she was going to be expelled bc of the lab explosion incident whereas when the actual culprit was identified, he wasn’t expelled?
but agreed, at least she does stand up for herself and doesn’t just accept it in silence. her best friend is great, though lol and yes! please let this be the end of her naïveté
i take issue with the fl blindly listening to her roommate despite everything that shes experienced so far. after finding out said roommate deleted her report.. surely fl would know better by now? i get they needed some kind of event to drive the plot forward, but it could have been written a little differently so it doesnt make the fl look like a complete clown (which i find generally evokes annoyance from viewers as opposed to sympathy.) like, shame on you if you fool me once, shame on me if you fool me twice.
they could have had it so roommate doesnt tell fl what the dancing costume looks like so fl snoops on her own and sees the lacy dress design. only to discover that the roommate purposely left out the design to trap fl. and this way, fl couldnt even accuse roommate of sabotage really... theres no proof. whereas, in the way it was written, fl has proof that roommate sent her the photo that tricked her.
maybe im just thinking too much.... like, i get it.. at the end of the day, its not that big of a deal. but its just a thought i had while watching i guess lol
i want to applaud the writers for this episode (12.) rarely do we see a lead actually communicate their feelings in an honest and mature way. boy, i was sweating bc i thought that she was just gonna ghost sg / hide how she truly felt about his father's confrontation. it really did demonstrate that mj is an actual Strong Female Lead.
i’m really enjoying this drama so far! i love the progression between our main couple, and their interaction / conversations with each other are too stinking cute! not to mention all the relationships between all characters—main and supporting. it’s such a well written drama (thus far.) i can’t wait for the next ep!
i went into this not expecting much, but man.... it’s so so good! i’m a huge fan of the more slice of life type dramas, and this is shaping up to be one of my faves.
now, i really hope there won’t be a last minute noble idiocy arc thrown in. fingers crossed.
im a sucker for the whole fake dating trope--cliches and all. i quite enjoyed the progression of the two leads falling in love. there were ups and downs, miscommunications, etc. all standard in dramaland. but...... i found the whole revenge plot super weak. and then there was the dreaded noble idiocy trope which spoiled the last few eps (seriously, why?) and the ending was a little too rushed for my liking.
i will say though, i really enjoyed watching zyj's acting during his character's live stream and retirement announcement.
unfortunately, i found it a little too draining to watch and enjoy . there were cute moments between ml and fl..... but fl's character made it nearby impossible for me to appreciate the romance. and ml had his flaws, too. i guess you could say there was some character development towards the end of the drama, but i found it to be too little, too late.
agree with general consensus that this drama was far too long / draggy with the essentially the same arc repeated over and over ad nauseam. ngl... from like ep 30, i was skipping so much that it was only taking 5 mins to finish an ep and even then i still felt like i had a 100% understanding of what was happening.
fl and ml were cute together. my fave scene is when she cooked dinner for him and then made him hide under the table when her parents came home.
as for sml... well...... he was a one track record. guess you gotta give him something for his sheer determination for his misplaced hatred and revenge schemes.
i also dislike sfl character with a burning rage of a thousand suns. like, are we really going to gloss over what she attempted to do to ml by getting him drunk and switching his room card at the hotel ??
the car accident in the final episode was so unnecessary and added nothing to the plot considering it was over in 0.2 seconds. at least the main cp had their happy ending but by then, i was so over the drama that it was very underwhelming (not to mention it was far too rushed.)
the ending was a little disappointing compared to how solid the rest of the show had been up to that point.. but at least there was no noble idiocy / breakup when fl had to go abroad so i'll gladly take it lol
and honestly, the way ml would look at fl ..... i melt.
enjoyed the main lead storyline (even tho it was too obvious from the get go that ml was the sperm donor / father of fl's baby. the back and forth - when will they finally get together - is to be expected when it comes to a drama.. albeit a little draggy but one should expect this when watching a 44 ep drama.
after reading one of the reviews stating that there were no maddening hateful characters, i thought,--yes okay this is a drama for me. however, i would have to respectfully disagree. there was a emotionally manipulative character and was trying to sabotage the secondary side couple. and as they were given quite a substantial amount of air time, i was almost more invested in their story more than the main cp.
like, did they really have to do my girl xq so dirty like that? perhaps it was because she was my fave character .... i was rooting for her happiness bc she deserved it so much. and yet her sister threatened suicide (and attempted it) to manipulate the dude they both had feelings for (and more.) if that wasnt bad enough.... xq died before finding out the truth and that her love was reciprocated (even tho his wishy washy passive arse didnt deserve her) and boi did i bawl my eyes out during gg's speech about her.
i will say, overall this drama was pretty funny (barring the super melo / tragic turn this drama took during the last third) my favourite scene had to be when they all bumped into each other at the fairground and they clung onto one another and then ended up in the ferris wheel together as one group. such a shame they couldnt be a happy group of six... my heart.
i would still rec this drama but just be warned that the secondary couple is ..... heartbreaking and features a really toxic character.
it was all going pretty well until sfl kept trying to hurt herself / attempt suicide as a means to emotionally blackmail ml into staying by her side. bottom of the barrel writing throwing in such cheap angst.
that and was disappointed to see fl continuing her "ugly" disguise to appease ml and his jealousy.

it’s fine to have differing views, and no one has the right to police it. and i would advise you to take heed of the first sentence you posted :)
