I guess because it is doing very well ratings-wise, they extended it, but I'm not sure if any series needs to be extended, let alone a 50 episode series.
Honestly, I't not very pleased with hyped dramas too, but some of them deserve the hype. For example, TPM was hyped for a good reason, so I can't really make a judgement before giving a try, which is why I've seen quite a few disappointing dramas over the past year.
But, there is an airing drama right now that I think will appeal to you given you taste. It's called Padam Padam, it's aired 10 out of its 20 episodes so far, but I've only seen 7. It tells the story of a man who was framed for a murder he didn't commit and begins after his release from prison. The story is very touching. We, as the viewers, know that Kang Chil is innocent, but seeing the way the other characters react to him being an ex-con is very remorseful.

Ok, so you're well on your way, and you have some time left :)
That's true! No, I don't have a job, though I need one :{ I just don't have the time for one during the semesters. For the upcoming one, I will be taking 5 classes, volunteering at a psych lab for 10 hrs/week, and doing an internship... That;s what scares me, and there just no time in there for a p/t job.
Sounds like you really enjoyed DM. I love stories about underdogs making it the world, which this sounds like one.
I'm sorry to hear about your disappointment in recent dramas, but I didn't enjoy PTB and FBRS either. MTF on the other hand, I liked the series up until maybe episode 10, then it went down an outplayed, unnecessary road that detracted from the earlier part of the series. I plan on writing my review for it soon, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Yeah, the second leads are much better at acting than the main leads. It has a good story, but 50 episodes is too long to tell it. I completely understand about it getting boring and irritating, it is just too common a story that have been retold repeatedly.

Your welcome :D I'm glad you're enjoying it! TPM is a drama that while not everyone loves it subjectively, it can't really be denied that it is a wonderful production objectively. Unfortunately many are turned away due to its being compared to Romeo and Juliette.
Both Park Shi Hoo and Moon Chae Won do a terrific job in playing their characters, but they also work well together, which is very important. For example, I see that you are watching A Thousand Kisses, I dropped the drama because the main leads have no chemistry together whatsoever. I tried to get past it, but had to finally let it go (I do want to know how the story ends though, so I will probably check in on a few episodes).

BTW, I see that your about to tackle Ojakgyo Brother. This is a drama that has caught my attention as well. I've heard good things about it, and the ratings are extremely high, but over 40 episodes have aired already. I'd like to hear your thoughts after a few episodes.

Lol. I actually watched the first episode of City Hall a while back, but never continued on with the series. I'm not sure why,I guess I didn't really enjoy it, but it's currently on my plan to watch list. I saw KSA in Scent of A Woman, and she was very good in that as well, but I can't imagine Cha Sung Won in a serious role.
Hmm, Dae Mul does sound interesting with the first female president basis. What are your final thoughts on it?
So you have some time to work on your thesis, that's good. How many chapters are you anticipating it to be?
I'm on break until the end of the month, so I'm not very busy now (which is why I've been watching many dramas lately), but I am not too enthusiastic about the upcoming semester. I have an extremely packed schedule. It's going to be challenging, but hopefully fun :)

It was very melodramatic, but it was melodrama done right in my opinion. I really enjoyed the brother-brother relationship, it was very genuine at first, even though they weren't blood relatives. It was nice that the relationship was able to survive through all the corruption that threatened to break it. Ugh, I hated the sibling love element either, I'm just glad that they didn't take it too far. Which reminds, I would really love to watch a kdrama someday without the essential love-triangle, that is also extended to a love-square/rectangle/rhombus at times. But this is why this drama is a makjang, it pull a lot of stunts that are excessively used.

Impressive, Bladey! 30 episodes already done, I need to get going with JJW.
Oh, yes! Ma Roo's character was very pitiable, and I thought the actor did a good job in conveying MR's emotions. Oh, I know, the whole drama was just very good all around. It had the perfect combination of sorrow and sincerity. The writing was done well, and you grow attached and feel for all the main characters. You become a part of the extended family and just want everything to work out for them. Ahh, the grandmother broke my heart when she passed away. It was more of Ma Roo's father's reaction that just tore me apart. That's what I loved so much about this drama, it had me so emotionally invested in it.

No, your explanations were very useful, they put the drama in an entirely new light. Thanks again for the info :) It did spoil the fact that Seok Ran becomes the first female Korean doctor, but it was to be expected with her interest in medicine, and her surrounding too. I've only recently found out about White Tower, but didn't know it was by the same writer.
Well, at least you have someone else whose guidance can be of help. It is a long process, so maybe she'll be back in time. When do you plan to have it done by? And how is coming along so for? I don't really understand what you mean by level 2 course, is it a more challenging course?

I don't think its the best of 2011 either (in case you can't already tell, it was The Princess' Man for me, lol), but I read your review, and agreed with it. Wow, only 2 last year? I watched about 90% of my completed list in 2011...

Haha, good choice? I can't really say, everyone has different taste, so while I didn't really enjoy it, others seem to love it. I do think its overrated regardless of what I thought of it though.
Lol, I've felt like that about a drama once or twice, but usually its with the female lead, hmm...

My first kdrama was Boys Before Flowers, which is probably why it took me so long to get addicted to them, lol.

LDW is the main reason I will watch it as well. The preview looks very funny, but I really hope Lee Si Young does something with that hair, it's really an eyesore.
It premiers tomorrow, so we'll see where it goes with regards to the sports theme.
I see My Girl is on your top dramas. It's another drama that has been on my list for so long, but I never got around to.

Can you ask for help from another prof./supervisor before giving it to your supervisor? You should really look into it, if he accepts anything, you are at a disadvantage. If he's not providing you with the aide you need, you should search for it elsewhere, even though you shouldn't have to resort to that.
How exciting! I actually read her for an African-Caribbean literature course I took a few years back and that was a novel we were required to read. I enjoyed it very much.
When are you planning on teaching? And on what level?

Yeah, films are a form of art, whereas movies are usually pure entertainment. The film will usually take chances and tell the story it wants regardless, while movies are all about making money. But yes, how you described it, that's what I prefer.
It really is too long. It is possible to do it in 3years, but you have to the take the maximum classes, and no summers off either. But you earn a BA based on the credits you accumulate, once you have the minimum required, you get your BA, whether it takes you 3 years or 6 is up to the individual. I'm getting my degree in 4 years, which is pretty standard.
It suppose it has it's positives and negatives, but many students are unhappy with it. That's too bad. You should receive the guidance you need. Is it possible to change supervisors, or is it too late now?

Yeah, well actually the method of using repetitive themes/elements in dramas is termed makjang. Here's an MDL thread on it: http://mydramalist.com/forum/showthread.php?944-Makjang!-Makjang!-Get-your-Revenge-and-Birth-Secrets-Here!
Oh no! that doesn't sound too good. No, no spoilers please...I'll see when I get there. Haha, well I'm still at the beginning (ep 4), but I do have a question. Are you aware of the historical background for JJW? Is it a completely fictional story, or was it based on real life events?
