they tried to make her a puppet -- but she played both of them in their faces doh --- she was never under anyone's control and only fought to help the people --- it wasnt a story about a trained general -- but an uneducated brute yet kind female character

i think she just supports her friend -- but ofc there must be another part of her story -- maybe she is secretly jealous of the FL

it's weird that they are not considering any other angles - like a jealous lover / obsessed secret admirer is not that of a far-fetched consideration
