i think a highlight of LGIEF is that it doesn't try to be more than it actually is - none of that pretentious serious meta idol dramas try (and 99% of the time fail to stick the landing) to handle. it embraces the comedy aspect with creativity and allows the leads to interact naturally, building up the romance at a good pace. so far it’s like breathing fresh air, allowing you to immerse yourself in their world, and somehow still embodying the trademark cdrama angst.

& yes there's some good meta like the villager arc but it's never in your face like it's trying to go "we are so oscar worthy". i find myself more touched by the stories when the writers aren’t shoving the themes in my face. if only more dramas understood that sometimes the key to successful idol dramas is to just be a good idol drama, nothing more nothing less. here’s to hoping this one sticks the landing.

Y'all nobody's doing it like Esther. She's giving away posters to everyone she meets in the weibo event 😭 https://x.com/bieaita/status/1853710283107385584?t=8u6j-nJUUsGyJqNM2pUUVA&s=19

LOL, the more that GJM is attacked, the more I know that he’s just being bullied.
“Guo issued a long-awaited public apology on China's Twitter-like Sina Weibo for copying writer Zhuang Yu's original novel In and Out of the Circle in his full-length 2003 novel Never Flowers in Never Dreams and promised to compensate Zhuang with all his copyright income from the novel. Guo had originally been found guilty of plagiarism and ordered by a Beijing Intermediate Court to issue the apology back in 2006.” (Global Times)

“A court found that the book has "shared 12 major plot elements and 57 similarities with another author". In 2006, the court made the final judgment, which announced that Guo has violated Zhuang Yu's copyright, and ordered him to pay Zhuang Yu 200,000 RMB (approximate $25,000) as compensation and apologize to Zhuang. Guo has paid the damage fee; however, he refused to apologize or admit the plagiarism, or talk about this case.” (wikipedia)

Feel free to read up by yourself if you’re still so sceptical. Just because this issue isn’t recent doesn’t mean it has no value - he refused to acknowledge or apologise for years until his personal career was threatened (ie complete removal of him in the industry). Chalking it up to random things like homophobia/pettiness is ridiculous, there’s no need for you to be defending the director so hard either.

LOL, the more that GJM is attacked, the more I know that he’s just being bullied.
There was quite literally a lawsuit for his plagiarism. There’s a reason why he’s despised by the general public (and while c-ent can often be unreasonable, this is not one of those cases). It’s fine to support the actors but you sound insane trying to defend this weirdo.

“In 2006 a court ordered Guo Jingming to publicly apologise for plagiarism. It took 14 years, and the threat of a film industry boycott, for him to say sorry” (SCMP)
- Clearly he isn’t very sorry though

“Due to plagiarism, GJM keeps changing his name in credits. In My Journey to You, he was Gu Xiaosheng. In Fangs of Fortune, he's now Zhang Yimin.” (@melonconsumer, X)

well that was a rollercoaster ride.

the first 40 minutes of the finale were exceptional and brilliant acting wise. everything i loved rolled into one. then the last segment defined what angst truly meant 🤡 until proper subs come out i can’t really analyse/meta about it and neither i think, do i want to just yet lmao. not exactly sure how i feel about it, but i’m definitely sticking around for part 2. with 10 more episodes i hope the writer truly maximises what has been an amazing saeguk so far.

before the finale i’d just like to say:

in this household everything gilchae does is correct and inspiring like the amazing woman she is 🫶🏻 “she doesn’t love jang hyun” i see some of yall have been watching the drama with your eyes closed and with a dash of misogyny but that’s fine! not everyone has the intellectual ability to appreciate character development & story progression. “she would be an annoying bitch for not accepting his proposal and running away” or maybe she just isn’t a moron and understands consequences of being a women in the 1600s where marriage/purity is something they have to uphold and would be scorned upon otherwise? “she’s so indecisive” yup because jang hyun definitely demonstrated clearly his love for her when she initiated proper communication! “she isn’t a good friend to eunae” did we watch different eps 4-9?

some of yall just hate women with an actual personality and not a doormat for the ml and that’s pathetic.

I WAS SO STRESSED. I've commented here before but I've never really felt war scenes because they were all the…
if i’m not wrong based on historical events the war wouldn’t be over? because they were completely defeated. could be wrong though as it’s only the previews + my knowledge is blurry at best

What?!?! Finally a confident, funny and strong opinion woman! I’m obsessed with her!
i think the other reply said it well but she’s not obliged to swoon over him. if you’ve watched the previous episodes carefully, she wears that attitude like an armour. her nature is self-centred (because she was sheltered and spoiled all her life) not selfish. if anything happens to eun ae or literally anyone else, it’s been demonstrated clearly she’d be the first to take charge and help. the whole point of character development is to watch as a character with flaws learn to be a better person throughout the course of the drama.
On Love You Seven Times Aug 11, 2023
does anyone have a link/or a title for the instrumental soundtrack that plays in ep 8 during the fight scene? it’s the one that played in LBFAD ep 35 as well (they’re really drawing some parallels here lol) and i really like it. it’s just the right amount of tragic sounding

well we can say bye to all of our anticipated summer dramas 💀 at the rate they’re cracking down on the industry it’s unlikely for many dramas to escape the dungeon

love you seven times which i was personally most excited for is definitely out, hidden love might have to get their license rechecked, kunning palace has bunch of issues rn, journey to you is probably never seeing the light … atp it’s a miracle if BFTB even manages to finish airing on schedule lol

Today's episode was short and boring as there was no new development in the story and there are hardly 7 episodes…
idk a lot of the plot points were revealed/developed here, but i can see why it feels a bit disconnected. i think from ep 30 onwards you need to binge watch for a better experience

everyone was so worried about the love triangle only for it to wrap up in 2 episodes and for BC to run right back into his arms i’m crying poor GYJW 💀 (which also shows how useless it was tbh other than to reaffirm LSS’s feelings for TTJ)

tteotm and lbfad really do have something in commonpeople only caring about the male lead and praising the male…
finally someone w common sense! i need to go and pull out a tumblr analysis i read a few days ago about TTJ’s character and how dysfunctional he is in terms of depending of LSS. it was so well written (i’ve always felt tumblr & twitter TTEOTM fans were able to meta and discuss the show better but that’s just me) and explores his codependent, all-consuming and very unhealthy love for LSS [eps 26-29 literally demonstrated that but ig all people took away is “poor TTJ suffering how unfair!” as usual 🫠]

but nope. it seems people here are still focused on the very shallow and surface level observations (e.g. he was a benevolent king! he was just seeking justice!) which are not at all wrong, but doesn’t even begin to scratch the layers of his character. and with LSS, they don’t even bother to take a look at the layers, just stamp the “female lead making my #wronged male lead unhappy!” label on her lol

They are both very flawed both in the original timeline and now. It’s not misogyny- some of her decisions are…
think you missed the whole point of my comment. i’m not denying whether either of them are flawed - in fact i literally agreed to both sides of the argument. it’s the simple fact that many are willing to point out LSS’s mistakes and blatantly hate on her (people say it’s the fangirls, which proves my point on internalised misogyny) while completely ignoring TTJ’s similarly if not more dysfunctional behaviour and reducing him to their “baby meow meow”.
On Till the End of the Moon Apr 29, 2023
not to damper the mood but some of y’all are getting way too comfortable showing your misogyny here. as always some part of the fandom will reduce the male lead to their precious meow meow that can do no wrong while it is the female lead who is terrible in every way.

mind you TTJ in LSS’s original timeline annihilated her entire clan right in front of her eyes all while strangling her to death (!!) + her purpose of going back in time wasn’t to fall in love with him/show affection but to kill to stop him. i find it a little ironic how people used to complain of female leads “foolishly abandoning their dignity because of love”, but when we have one that sticks to her mission no matter what, the tides turn and now it’s all her fault. [the drama literally explores her damned if you do, damned if you don’t dilemma which i love]

i was one of those that agreed LSS’s whole saving XL plan was stupid on her part, and i do think her perspective is hindered by judgment. i also agree TTJ is a different version of his devil one and should be given a chance. but i appreciate that she is flawed as a character (and hopefully has room to grow) because perfect beings do not exist. you can acknowledge and critique her mistakes w/o bashing her entire character for a situation this complex. TTJ is still a dysfunctional person who has yet to learn how to love healthily and like LSS has a long way to go, not just some poor creature LSS has wronged. i’m getting tired of the weird infantilisation of him and in turn the attacks on LSS.

i’m excited for the immortal arc after today’s spectacular episode but one thing i’m dreading is the immortals themselves lol. i've already had enough of their holier than thou attitude and their black and white perspectives. “we have to protect and rid the world of #evil” says the nasty and useless asses themselves like y’all are what we need to get rid of
