“she made her bed so she gotta lay on it” exactly! i can totally understand her mission and the reason(s)…
i’ve had to go great lengths to understand YXW’s perspective honestly - it isn’t the whole “must kill him” mantra she wholeheartedly believes in but the fact that even after witnessing his benevolent nature as king or even just as a person learning how to love in general, she still assumes the absolute worst of him. i don’t fault her for associating TTJ to devil!TTJ, but her automatic conclusion that anything terrible that happens (eg the poisoning of grandma) is his fault and only his - and that everyone around him is innocent - is frustrating. i couldn’t even get why she was so dedicated to saving XL even after knowing he went to assassinate TTJ like girl you are doing everything but helping
Got no hate for YXW. The girl got a mission. Total respect, she did what she came to do and it has to be done.…
“she made her bed so she gotta lay on it” exactly! i can totally understand her mission and the reason(s) why she cannot afford to just let him off with a little slap on the wrist, but she had to know the consequences of getting the unhinged guy she believes to be worse than satan himself to fall in love with her. like there was no way she expected him to smile and giggle once he knew she intended to spike his heart 💀 in fact it’s pretty impressive that she’s on the cell floor close to dying but still thinking about that damn mission
I haven't watched a lot of Chinese shows, but it feels like the series length is actively working against this…
many are complaining the drama should be way longer and the 40ep restrictions have been a negative impact yet here you are saying the drama should be condensed/shorter haha
LSS has immunity syndrome where she thinks her current position means she can get away with doing whatever she wants w/o consequences. well she’s dead wrong on that and the resulting events will teach her a rightful lesson on how to use your brains before you act.
but touching on that, i actually do love that they’re slowly showing her flaws through her supposed “kind and noble” deeds. she’s so ignorant of reality and her black and white perspective is a product of upbringing. i’ve also seen a remark that the drama is showing how she’s no better than YXW (the difference being one uses her cruelty like a whip while the other hides hers behind a mask of denial) which i may disagree w to some extent, but if you think about it, they’re not entirely wrong!
personal opinion but while i completely understand LSS’s need to get revenge and stop the demon apocalypse blah blah blah and 100% am looking forward to the angst it brings on,
i think she really does view things from a black and white perspective where TTJ can only be either someone who deserves care after being treated like trash for so long or a horrible person who should be destroyed - no in between. And one commenter pointed out her low emotional intelligence which i lowkey agree because this is literally how things are playing out right now
YBC: does something terrible TTJ: breathes LSS w/o checking facts or applying simple communication: you are satan reincarnated and i must kill you! (and vice versa honestly)
+ her meeting XL in secret had nothing to do with the whole evil bone issue … she just acted based on the assumption that the Shengs winning this war - that they started btw - would lead to peace, which has been already proven untrue many times. (unless i missed smth of course, feel free to correct!)
and how would you know that? not saying it couldn’t be legit but it’s hard to be trustworthy when there is absolutely no backing proof or visible evidence and the answer is “from a friend”. that’s the same as source: trust me
So what day does this show air?I thought its Mon-Fri, but why is next episode in 3 days? And why only 1 ep/day…
today is thursday lmao …
that’s the schedule - 2 ep per day from monday to wednesday and then 1 ep on thursday. pretty sure it’s to maximise the drama’s popularity and earn the bucks
oh i love this. as we come to the end of this arc tomorrow, i think what stuck with me most was that unlike TTJ and YXW, they have no second chances whatsoever. even in death, SJ still refuses to forgive MY for what happened but cannot find herself capable of letting him suffer forever. MY cannot change what happened and because there’s no redemption, he’s left to lie below her statue until he eventually withers away. what a tragic story but i love it. it ended the only way it could have imo
here’s the thing: i completely understand if you don’t feel as invested in this dream arc. but it’s getting extremely annoying to check the comment section and find people complaining nonstop about the exact same thing over and over again. i come here to discuss about the plot but only find the same old complaints - and those that actually want to theorise are buried below. it’s also grating my nerves to see people randomly attack the actors for the show adapting part of the novel (??). like some would definitely complain if the show wasn’t faithful to the original work but some are now upset that it is. there’s no winning the masses here.
so if you don’t feel as interested right now, that’s fine! but if i may make a suggestion, there’s no need to complain everyday about it - this arc is going to end in ep 18. just come back here afterwards.
coming from someone who had absolutely zero expectations going in to the 2nd season i do think they did a decent job where possible. yes there was plentiful plot holes and the pacing was an absolute mess, but the cinematography & common tropes (eg. she’s the light to his darkness) was delicious. i’ve never known hong sisters to produce top notch dramas anyway
the only thing i have to (unfortunately) nitpick with is GYJ as naksu. Don’t get me wrong i think she did a rather good job and did what she could with the script, but JSM just gave life to the character. Naksu in part 2 felt like a lifeless doll used for plot devices whereas she had me rooting and crying for her in part 1. I suppose this has to do with how stellar of an actress JSM is and her greater experience. The short amount of episodes was also restrictive and didn’t do the characters justice imo.
ngl i think y’all are fighting invisible comments because i’ve seen at most 2 actually complaining about the storyline being women-centric.
i’ve also noticed every new drama drops drastically in ratings here on MDL, so don’t be so caught up on that. It’ll probably climb higher as weeks go by.

also i’m glad they adapted the bracelet plot
