I’m really going to miss this drama. In addition to following the script I think it was important to cast lead actors who understood the characters and studied the IP well. I will always be grateful for BJT and ZRN for breathing life into Sang Yan and Shuangjiang respectively.

I’ve also read the novel and I appreciate the way you explained this. I am torn about the HK arc but it doesn’t dismiss the love Yifan has for Sang Yan. One of the most beautiful things I love in the drama is how much of Sang Yan’s POV we get since majority of the novel was Yifan’s perspective. Sang Yan is handsome and talented but there is so much more to him and I’m so glad BJT studied that and portrayed that in the drama.

This was well said. Yifan had some friends around her and nobody to bear her weight at the same time. Not only does she struggle with believing she deserves good things but even when she was happy she wasn’t entitled or spoiled to begin with. It also doesn’t help that how her mom responded to her cries for help is still fresh in her mind.

I think this was well said and nuanced. I was watching a BTS clip of the director explaining the hospital scene to BJT and ZRN, where he was showing the difference between what would happen in real life vs the opportunity to expand on an emotion in a drama. I wish there were more BTS about the HK arc so I could understand what the production and director were thinking when developing this scene and how the two lead actors felt about it. I’m still torn and forming my opinion on the HK arc.

I’m still torn about this change especially since the break was 6 months but if there is one thing I’m grateful for, it’s the opportunity to see more of Sang Yan’s POV when he discovers Yifan’s past. You get a dive into his emotional intelligence and it gives him a lot more time to digest what happened with Yifan. I’m also grateful for an actor like BJT for picking up this role, there is so much to Sang Yan than what meets the eye. BJT really understood that and conveyed that.

First Frost is truly exceptional in the sense where not only are the characters loved in every timeline, era and universe - this story is loved in every medium whether it's the novel, manhua or drama adaptation. It's also got the best of the best handling the respective mediums. I couldn't have asked for a better manhua artist and I don't think I could have asked for a better cast for these characters.
