The element of the ml becoming the emperor was truly satisfying. Generally when the ml is a prince, he'll do everything to uproot the evil but strictly refrain from ascension even when nobody else is deserving or competent. They say they never eyed the throne and so they ignore the responsibility, here too the ml was not interested in the imperial affairs but he took charge when it was needed despite everything he underwent just by virtue of carrying the royal blood.
It is a good drama but the Princess Royal being conferred a title posthumously seemed utterly ridiculous. She was such a sick person and committed every sin possible. She did not deserve this. She should have faced trial and meet the same end as the Marquis.

I see many people hating ziyu but I think he turned out to be a good emperor, jealous like any other human but he did listen to his empress and at the end it seemed as though he was always one with xingzhou so ig he wasn't that bad..
I love that He Zhen got her own happiness and at least Binglan realised her mistakes even if very late..
It's refreshing to see ziyu treating xueji sincerely at last..that said, he was always good to her and she never expected much
