Lol yes! As an ordinary person like in Nevertheless (borrinngg drama, his co-lead sucked too) I was left wondering why on earth would any girl waste her time on a guy like his character’s. It was so baffling - unattractive dude with shitty personality, huh? - I had to stop watching.

HAHA yes!!😂 Idk what Rowoon did to his nose but it’s half pinched/half flaring. And he only has one look lol – yes with flaring nostrils and wide eyes. He was out-acted and out-charisma-ed by Lee Jae Wook in Extraordinary You (which I had to drop). So bland and dull even the other supporting actors were more interesting!

Woo Do Hwan & Kim Min Jae made me sit through the shit that was Tempted. The latter isn’t the typical good-looking Korean but he has a sort of charisma and presence on screen that I find engaging. And dude actually started as a singer lol and used to train tog with AHS. He’s doing great in Dali and yes, he out-acted AHS in RDKS2. He was great in both seasons.

Interestingly, Lee Do Hyun (supporting) and Yang Se Jong (ML) was in Still 17 (one of my fav dramas actually) with AHS (SML). Both out-acted him. I couldn’t even be bothered with AHS’s character and at times OTT acting there.

Yes Kwak Dong Yeon is also great! He caught my eye in Love in the Moonlight. Did he out-act SJK in Vincenzo?

Omfg Na In Woo. Ruined Mr Queen for me!! Dude was always poking into the main couple’s shiz and had two looks the whole damn drama – pokerface & the something-here-stinks look. Horrible! I was shooked when he got handed that lead role in River. So undeserving.

I'm crying at your Song Kang comments 🤣 love it! The commenters that replied to you also raised some good points. Y'know, I never understood Sk's popularity. His acting sux and worse, he's actually incredibly unattractive to me - idk he looks like a lopsided bug to me (another sucky yet popular actor who looks like a bug is Jang Ki Yong but I digress). At least AHS I find to be slightly better looking when styled right. I see no appeal at all with SK and have no idea why he's getting lead roles with Netflix-produced dramas. I see that he's v tall though.

I like your point on the fact that these lousy actors generate foreign socmed chatter, which is why they are cast in lead roles despite not having any local interest. Song Kang, Ahn Hyo Seop, Rowoon (another sucky, bug-looking actor), Jang Ki Yong, Nam Joo Hyuk. Not sure about Cha Eun Woo's Korean following but I can't stand his one-note acting.

Actors born after 1990 that have impressed me so far are only Yang Se Jong, Woo Do Hwan, Kim Min Jae, Yeo Jin Goo, Lee Do Hyun & Lee Jae Wook. The rest are quite meh.

Oh yes a limited series is the perfect length for me. 6 eps is all I can take, even from my fav dramas. I think that East Asian dramas (China & South Korea in particular) love their longgg draggy dramas (China can go up to 70 omg) for sponsorship & monetary purposes.

Omona is the same. The worst I've seen has to be allkpop/soompi. Cesspool. It's like they cannot accept that ppl are free to critique what they watch. The absolute worst for me has to be stans that trust every single thing Dispatch or celebs/their agencies say. They take it like gospel, and act like K-ent isn't above PR stunts, bearding, rlshp contracts, image white-washing etc just like Hollywood. I can't with the naivety.

Ughh I'm waiting for Kingdom 3 to come out but there's been no news so far. Yet they will greenlight silly shows like that nine-tailed fox show with Lee Dong Wook. Like who asked for that? lol

I personally think that K-dramas' adoption of the season format isn't ideal. Alot of the writing sucks and doesn't hold up when there are multiple seasons of 16 episodes. I can tolerate multi-seasons of shows like You and the various British police procedurals I follow in part because each season is like short - 6-8 eps short and the writing is tight. Even then, quality starts to regress to the mean after each season.

Okay will keep that in mind! Love nam goong min. Yes!! I could not stand the FL in ROP. Such a ridiculous character, I skipped all her scenes too. The ending was unsatisfying for me too. MN in FL, seen her in supporting roles only elsewhere-not outstanding. After appearing in world of the married as a mistress, seems to now be typecast in roles that require bed scenes. The bed scene in MN seemed shoehorned in to me

Oh I will def catch the veil then - i quite like the actor playing the ML. NIF was perfect, rarely come across c-dramas as good as that tbh. The last one I completed was Princess Weiyoung. Rise of the Phoenix was really good but got tired of the long draggy plot. Yeah Im avoiding SG cos it's too violent for me. My name is kinda underwhelming and predictable. Find the FL to be overrated even in her other work. Hard to find shows that I can stick to.

Yesss and i get bothered when ppl are watching it for aesthetic/entertainment value and conflating that with "high quality" drama. Yoo ah in is great! He's very picky with his projects. The two male leads in SG have always been known for their acting too. I notice that k-actors male or female who are great rarely venture into dramas and if they do, they are incredibly selective and avoid romcoms.

I was thinking that y'know - that his company wants to put him in American productions and make money from there -since he's fluent in English, has no accent like u said. Cos his ascend to lead roles is really puzzling, and usually these sorta stuff involves alot of backing bts.

LOLL. and apparently Viki uploaded the ep with the green screen and all in the background - without even editing any cgi in LOL! even distributors/production can't be arsed anymore. I rolled my eyes sooo hard at the scene of the son and of the two princes (LMAO prince smirk!) fighting. I saw ppl getting excited at season 2. noooo pls. seriously, nobody needs a second season of this rubbish drama. it's like the writer just couldn't be arsed to even finish up the episode she just decided to end it there. he/she needs to be banned from writing anything else

Hi! I dropped this too. Agree with you an Enny, I've dropped sooo many dramas in the past. I think the last one I watched every single episode to the end was Light in your eyes - that was years ago.
Disliked the FL and the ML here. FL was a typical Joseon Candy. No idea why KYJ took this role. She was charming in the earlier part of her career, but has been taking on dud roles/dramas and her sageuk roles are all one and the same. No improvement. Drama teasers n all were about female empowerment but saw none of that. No idea how two men were simping over this candy.
ML was horrible. Stopped acting blind halfway through. No expressions. So stiff. Moves super slowly. Had no idea blind people behaved like that! Find the actor mediocre in all his works so I shouldn't be too surprised. Shooked that he has rabid fangirls tho lol.

Have you completed any dramas in recent years? I love those with strong female characters but kdramas still have a long way to go. What with candy FLs, abusive MLs, toxic ppl ard them etc.

samee. it reeks of lazy writing. Memories of the Alhambra was like this as well. but lotrs takes the cake for the most number of useless flashbacks (and most of was peachback LOLL 😂) I've seen.

Worst I've seen in awhile - and that says alot as I tend to be critical abt dramas I watch. wondering why the actors took it. everyone just looked so done midway through, even the Director who couldn't be bothered lol. I wondered how this drama managed to make the cut and how did SBS greenlight this nonsense.

I share the same sentiments as u! I didn't like AHS's acting in this one though. He was just expressionless mostly. And very stiff. Like yes we know Haram is as blind as a bat and won't be reacting like how people with sight will react - but like dude, your expressions/behaviours etc are so stiff! Blind ppl don't act like that pls. And he kinda stopped acting like a blind person anyway somewhere ard the middle. Director didn't bother to correct too. Dude was looking in ppl's eyes, climbing onto horses without any difficulty etc. LOL.

omg u watched that too! 🤣 yes it looked like they just got acquainted before the cameras rolled LOL. so awkward. aint no bromance going on there man. hopefully he opens up abit more bts cos i think that will help with building rapport n channeling that into onscreen chemistry. shall see how he is in his next drama with sejeong lol.
