The double irony, esp. since they didn't pay JE cast for the 10 or 12 episodes filmed. And yet they do Taxi Driver which is about revenge for the victims, I mean seriously?!

"F there was romance, I’d much rather watch Esom with Lee Jehoon than Pyo Yejin because I know she can deliver sexual tension and believable adult emotions." 100% PYJ is cute in the role, but I feel like she seems green in the show. (Altho the flashbacks hit for something darker), I still think Esom when she wants to dial it in can be sexy. She made her big debut with the Jung Woo Sung in an erotic thriller, say no more!! I really hope they give more to Esom, b/c I really love her different aura/look, and I find her and LJH to have adult chemistry.

IA. Esom has this femme fatale vibe to her. She was charismatic and cool in Because this is my First Life. She was a former model, and it shows in her works that she can do a full range of roles. She has a cheeky look to her, but has a Lee Honey vibe imo.

I love Lee Je Hoon. I’ve loved him since I first saw him in Just Friends? And in Bleak Night, Ghost Sweepers,…
Time to Hunt? Tomorrow with You? I would say those shows showed me he can be sexy. But in Taxi Driver, he is more in your face with his sexiness lol. It helps that he looks less boyish and more like manlier now :O

His voice, ikr!! Really soothing and smooth. He's suave, and yes his swagger. OMG!! Taxi Driver if it goes on w/o any more controversies, he's going to win that Daesang.

Oh great now, K-netz are attacking LJH for his salary, seriously?? Companies make off so much off of their talents,…
Lol, oh wow. Seriously, I hope that's the case. But I really do think b/c this is an action drama, w/ heavy action scenes. That this isn't going to be an issue that'll die down anytime soon. It might come back again later. So if I were SBS, I would release a statement. But I also, think they won't b/c it would only add more fuel/attention on a potential hit maker. But the criticism about the fight scenes are valid, the immersion wasn't great. They need to do a better job editing those sequences, and hiding the stunt men w/ the actor.

I knew the action scenes will create some trouble. I mean it was so clear that the scenes are done by someone…
IA. Every actor uses a stunt double, its for insurance purposes and protecting the artist so it doesn't affect the drama. That being said, the fault lies on the PD and editing team for not doing a better job with making the action sequences immersive and flow better. The editing is awful, seriously, SBS this show was 60% filmed. Like double check before you turn your product in, smh its like they're trying to sabotage the actor/show.

I just checked Naver, and that Taxi Driver article is still trending at #3. But yes, this is what happens when SBS/LJH's reps don't do crap. People will snowball this, and then turns their attention towards his personal life rme.

Holy crap :O Really? Do they know that those actors themselves also did had stunt men helping them in their scenes? For LJH, he didn't go to marital arts school in his 20s, compared to those men. It seems like in his words, his first foray into action. There's no way a guy in his late 30s would ever learn action skills like that super fast.

Oh wow, so now they're critiquing the award winning actor. RME. SBS sucks, as we seen w/ their Joseon Exorcist thing. I wish Taxi Driver was on tvN or OCN instead. When Mr. Queen got backlash, tvN responded very quickly and it died down, and we know the show went on to be very successful.

Bahaha. Yeah I think not, BMW i8 isn't something most people (who aren't rich can afford). So yeah, I guess a slip of the mouth where he has the BMW car too, but mostly uses his old car the most which is fine.

Oh, I know what you mean. I feel like so much distortion and trying to fit things into a narrative. I wouldn't be shocked if people dig up his old words and try to use that against him. Rme. Hopefully things can settle down before it affects the show's ratings/actor. Do not want a scenario where random comes out and starts saying "LJH is a phony/fake" b/c the Pandora's box has now been opened.

Interesting. I guess, b/c of the media/press play that SBS/LJH did about the action scenes. Many prob. feel annoyed that an actor whose being paid a lot of $$, isn't even in his action scenes. But honestly, is this a big issue, no? But it could derail into other silly stuff, if it keeps going on as this is pretty action oriented so they can't escape comments like that. When that happens, people will only point and look at LJH when he's in action scenes or if his stunt double is. And that's going to take away from his acting then.

I feel like, honestly b/c of their demanding careers, the actors most likely aren't around as much, and want home cooked meals w/ their parents. But for me the issue I can see w/ that, is when it comes time for dating lol or space, esp. at an older age like his. That's gotta be a bit claustrophobic ngl. Yeah, so many actors in their mid to late 30s are still single/unmarried. As for LJH, its funny b/c he said he was single for 6 yrs (This was like in 2014?). But I read the Soompi article https://www.soompi.com/article/1463605wpp/lee-je-hoon-talks-about-his-ideal-type-past-dating-experience-and-stunt-driving-scenes-in-taxi-driver and it seemed like he did have a good amount of dating experience. So I guess, there just being cautious of that so fans/media won't get into their personal lives.

Oh really, where you get that info on his car? P.S, loving the LJH anecdotes! Its hard to find much info on him, so seeing him pop up more in variety surprised me ngl. He said himself he's not funny/serious person lol.

https://onehallyu.com/topic/387996-dispatch-caught-lee-je-hoon-with-his-new-shiny-beauty/?ct=1618992577 This was in August 16' so after Signal. https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-j1fooY7bcV4/V7aG1JTnSVI/AAAAAAAA2_c/2fEnojPEE5I48ere2FnzF_rimzAHoWAkACLcB/s1600/4.jpg He looks kinda cocky there lol.

"I really hope the pictures are recent, otherwise this could become another issue." Why so? Lol, if he was driving a BMW since college, dude must've been loaded ;)

Ikr? But sadly as we seen recently, it has happened. So before things spiral into that direction, (sighs) SBS better release a statement asap!!

I noticed the bad editing in Ep 3/4, it made me feel a bit like really? This show has everything going for it, so lets not let crappy editing ruin that, PLS!! I also hope they stick w/ their rating too, why change something that's working?

Right? I recall he said he lived w/ his parents like during Signal time (2016). Like bro? I notice there are some celebs who still live at home, I guess diff. cultures but yeah he's like almost 40 lol. I imagine b/c he works a lot, he barely comes home so for him a house isn't necessary for him yet? He did say he likes family, and its important to him, so I can see why he would still live at home despite his age ngl.

As for that $$, he set up a new production/film company called Hard Cuts. I just viewed the page for that, and its really cool. They've several works in pre-production. I just think its cool that he's pursuing his passion/dream. He also recently is directing a film for Watcha out this December!!

One thing on his car, he drives a BNW i8 which is a luxury car. If you google, you'll see a link that Dispatch followed him only to get the hot candids of him in sunglasses driving that expensive car. Ngl, I was like he's a bit materialistic when I saw those pics, jk ;). So he has expensive taste, unless he has a diff car that your referring to?

It really is. In a way, I assume its b/c he's a well used film actor. And another is he rarely does dramas, this is 3 yrs after his last one. So, in a way, he has exclusivity and brand name/recognition in Korea. In 2016, Korean movie goers listed him as #6 on their top film stars that yr. And that list had Lee Byung Hyun, Choi Min Shik, and other big Chungmuro talents.

LJH is an interesting case, b/c while he doesn't have the Hallyu hits that reach I-fans in a global way. He's a well regarded/respected actor in Korea, and he has some hits to his name (Signal/Architecture 101/Anarchist Colony/I Can Speak) which people really like to love. I also think this shows me that I-fans doesn't = K-fans. An actor can be more popular internationally, but in Korea, they aren't as respected/given awards. Whereas popular Korean actors do, but like LJH more underrated by I-fans.

I just checked and it doesn't look good. It's the 2nd hottest topic in the entertainment category on Naver right…
That article from Naver went in super hard on LJH. I think the summary is:

1) LJH is getting paid 100K per episode, so they expected more immersion from him in his action scenes.

2) He went on a talk show and did interviews where he alluded to his action scenes and his work into doing action. So people assumed he did the stunts himself. Bad case scenario: People think he's covering up his faults (action), and taking credit for himself, so they can see that as haughty.

3) The editing (which I've said) is awful, and dilutes sometimes the scenes because of the weird whiplash/editing. The action scenes (when using a stand-in) aren't properly being used (and stands out in a bad way). I think they should've had a better PD for this, I mean Doctor Detective (Who watched this?). And gotten the PD from Sweet Home or someone better in action.

4) Conclusion: As you said, they need to put out a statement before people get bored/angsty and go into other ahem private territory with the actor. I feel like some people will be like "In HS or college, this actor tried to act like he did the work, but he didn't" and yada yada ://

SBS is such a messy ass station, like this show was filmed 60% back in March (When the 2nd FL was taken out), and I'm like how do you guys not go back and view your episodes so everything is top notch. SMH.

Oh sh!t. And I was like "Did he do something criminal?" Omg, I can't believe that this issue has become way bigger than expected. This is scary. I stg he said he done his car stunts, and he went to action school beforehand. But I never took him as saying "I did all the stunts myself." #2 on Naver, wtf?! Seriously, what's going on for this to blow up? I'm afraid this is going to affect the drama/awards buzz for this. I'll say the action scenes are badly edited, and the show is badly edited too.

SBS and LJH need to come out and clarify that, so this doesn't blow up into other parts. As in, LJH's dating life or some silly stuff that could derail the show. UGH!!

https://zapzee.net/2021/04/20/lee-je-hoons-stunts-seem-too-basic-for-someone-who-receives-100-million-won-per-episode/

"There are many action scenes due to the nature of the series. Lee Je Hoon especially demonstrated his action scenes in the second and fourth episodes. However, these scenes are somewhat awkward. That is because he used a stunt double. While it is common for actors to use a stunt double, Taxi Driver uses them even in unnecessary scenes."

"Lee Je Hoon’s own stunts are also quite patchy. Despite his muscular and agile-looking body, the way he drags himself is dull. Such sluggishness stops him from acting in good postures, and it explains why he needs a stunt double for the show."

"While the production crew could have done a better job by finding someone with a similar build and hairstyle as the actor, unfortunately, we could tell them apart way too quickly."

"Perfect stunt acting is not mandatory for the actors. However, because he receives around 100 Million won per episode, some claim that he lacks responsibility as a main character. And others say that he relies too much on his double, although he initially knew the show was heavily based on stunts."

Damn this article went in :3 Also $100,000 per episode, damn, that's what big Hallyu stars like Hyun Bin/Song Joong Ki get!?

Yeah, I thought the same thing too. But thing is, LJH has only said that he has done the car stunts himself, never the action scenes. So, I don't know why this is a bigger issue? Like hello, stunt man/woman exist, and they're necessary for dramas like this so the main talent doesn't injure/hold up a show b/c of injuries.

I feel like its scary, too much mudslinging. And in the internet age, most don't check up on the facts or stories after the report comes out. Oh yeah, I was surprised b/c his fan page seemed scared that this would affect LJH/award chances. Let's hope this gets addressed soon, and doesn't become a bigger issue.
