Right? If this was a Western show, we could see SDM date/fall in love/out of love with one and/or both guys over the course of multiple seasons. UGH. Meanwhile shows that are more procedural based gets multiple seasons. I guess for romance based shows, people don't want to accept other possibility other than their main choice. I def. think NDS has obviously the book smarts but lack street smarts which HJP has in spades (both book/street smarts!). He's a yes man to SDM, but if you think about it, is it b/c its for his company or b/c he wants her to like him?? Is his purpose for doing so for good intentions?? A ha yes Pied Piper lol! I think whatever happens is a result of betrayal, money, power, and ego all accumulating to a scenario where Samsan Tech might end up separating/going their own ways. Perhaps the Time Jump into 2019 or so will give us more intel on that...

For sure. The only thing I wish K-dramas had more of was actual shipping wars/huge fandom community. If this was a Western drama, it would prob. be 3-5 seasons of back/forth shipping wars!! UGH, now I wish Start Up was 2 seasons or 20 episodes.

Seriously its crazy, how much chemistry this guy has with everything and everybody (person, thing, object, space or even himself lol). The writer always makes her 2nd ML's shine. KSH's instagram followers increased a lot since this show. Def. has a bright future ahead!

Dal-mi is an optimist, whereas Ji-pyeong is a pessimist but realistic. Two optimists together (Dal-mi and Do-san) is going to get stale after a while, meanwhile having someone like JP around her keeps her from being stagnant in her life. They both balance each other out so well.

Well said! It's also lovely to see these older respected veteran legends get a chance to shine again in a complex and well written show/role. And this time as the Mains!!

Da-mi is spunkier, maybe doesn't have what Im Siwan's role had in scientific/math data but she's more livelier than his role there. Both underdog roles w/o the specs, Miseang is a very good show so this is huge compliments to Start Up to elicit those comparisons :)

I wish this show was 20 episodes tbh!! However, the long runtime of 1 hr 20 min + hopefully will solve these subplots that don't end up dragging the show too long!!

I think its a testament to the writer because both guys have their own unique traits/sensibilities in how they approach things. One guy is more optimistic about life, while the other is more realistic about life. Honestly, both guys have been shown in this show to embody good/bad traits that are compatible with the FL. Now this is a couples off that actually is hard to argue who Da-mi is going to end up with :D

Ah this show!! Brings a smile to my face every time I watch this. Although we seen love triangles pop up from other shows, weirdly I'm into the one here lol? Both guys are great, so its really adds another element to this show. Man, I'm so shocked by how much I'm enjoying this show.

Park Hye Ryun is a great writer no doubt, she infuses her sensibilities to make something like a love triangle or a youth drama fresh and exciting! Whoever Da-mi chooses, she'll win either way!! Although I hope that the fallout out from this goes an unexpected and un-cliche way.

Thanks! I think Start Up is doing a nice fusion of romance, tech world start ups, and business stuff in a fresh and non boring way imo. I learnt a bit from what it takes to build a company from the ground up, investor jargon, and some other tidbits too.

Ooh for sure! I hear a lot of that, I would say this is the Cyrano 2020 version that's done in a fresh and compelling way for me lol.

Hmm, interesting. I tend to feel that in American shows, the characters hardly change other than their circumstances. Some shows I watched, the main character typically stays the same with their moral convictions and mindset till the end. Whereas in K-dramas, characters tend to grow/change either for the better or for the worse, but usually for the better.

Other than NDS, would you say Start Up is the K-version lite of Silicon Valley?

Interestingly enough, TOTNT's Youtube views are half a million/to over a million viewers online. A lot of Korean viewers seem to be digging the show too, as a Korean recapper's account of the show reached over a million views on Youtube. Still 5-7% is considered successful for cable channels (Around 1.1-1.3 million viewers)

Yes, usually makjangs are referred to in not so positive terms! However, they've this drawing power that grabs the audience despite the crazy shenanigans. Np!

He's very good here. However, in all the stuff I've seen of him in or shows he's been in, he's always plays the co-lead/second male lead to the bigger male lead/star. I don't know if he'll be able to transform his talents to star wattage (like his other co-stars been)...

It's generally not a compliment lol. It means making the story fast/dramatic by inserting nonsensical plots into the story to build up more tension/suspense/drama into a show.

:( She's still as beautiful and talented as ever <3 She did do a romance Melo this yr a few months ago. LBY is doing a cameo in Start Up which is nice, but man I want her to be a FL in her work sometime again.
