Good points. One thing that bothered me with Lu Chang in a military uniform. Martial arts in a sword fighting era is a particular skill set that scholars, especially poor ones, even being helped by a rich merchant family, would not have accessed to. Scholar warriors would come from the Song family and not the Jian family.

As others have said, had Su Tangli been the FL and patiently worked her way to Prince Yu, (as the ML) leaving a trail of betrayed lovers and bodies, this drama would be pretty good. Two patient, calculating and ruthless people engaged in a dance to the death.

Sorry, but I have to disagree in part. Do families cry less if small towns have suffered from war compared with larger nations? Are the two leaders at the party after the deer hunt acting different from Western leaders? Not in my eyes.
