That is the show itself. It does it on a few occasions. Like when brother black gave life back to that teacher…
It's actually explained in the novel. Because the man is from Hanga tribe and had been sleeping like hundreds of years in the pillar of nature, he naturally didn't learn how to speak mandarin (let's just pretend that the language he speak when inside the pillar of nature is not mandarin). So he's learning from the beginning about how to speak mandarin. He could speak Hanga language though, so it's not like he's mute. Just that he's learning the mandarin language

Hello thanks a lot for the link :0). I right away looked it up, and on second thought, not sure I'll start to…
It's not that long actually. Each chapter is around 2-3 minutes read. I'm at the third act now (around chapter 57) and the story is moving nicely. You won't be bored. I don't even realize that I've read that far because it's just so entertaining

Heyyyy, I opened the page since I am watching this Drama now and here you are! I am halfway through for the moment.…
If you like the drama, then I suggest you to read the novel too. It's so much fun comparing the drama and novel. And you'll find many similarities between the two

I'm a long-time fan of the original PoT so I enjoyed this drama immensely. And the portrayal of each character in the drama is so on point, just like the original. That's why I become a fan of this version too :)

If you like slice of life drama, I think you would enjoy this one. Just close your eyes on the tennis, as PoT is not what you called "normal" tennis lol

I think it would be 85% females. Since the casts are geared more toward females

It's just like a formula in the older days, where shounen manga is all about friendship and shoujo manga is all about romance. Though nowadays many shonen mangaka are female, so the rate of romance is going up (also the BL or bromance is more blatant)

I see you mention BL. I guess some parts of the drama could be in the grey zone, but there's no full BL

I actually like almost all of this writer's drama (except for a few) and Mr Sunshine is one of the best from this writer I think. With that expectation in my mind, King Eternal Monarch is not as engaging to me as her other dramas. True, episode 4 is picking up the steam. But it's still not enough to convince me that the story is going to work. Maybe that's because I have a high expectation of the drama, and I also love fantasy setting drama, but I guess it just don't make me feel like I have to watch the next episode. It made me feel detached actually

I will still watch the drama until the end but it won't excite me as much. I'll watch them for the sake of completing them

P.S. I agree that the shot is beautiful. It's one of the reason why I keep on watching the drama

Lol It's like a trend in the 1990s (when PoT first released in Japan) for shounen manga to have almost no romance (or if there's any, it would only be hinted). Another best example is One Piece and Naruto (though Naruto later on have a lot of romances at the epilogue). That's why even after the series was renewed to New PoT, there's still no romance)

Though the drama put more emphasis in Lu Xia's feelings toward Qing Yi. So you could enjoy the moments where he truly and genuinely care for her. It's quite fun to see those little tidbits to me XD

Title The Prince of Tennis Spoiler
I watched the first episode, and before I watch the rest I want to ask:How much romance is there? Between who? That…
Because the original manga itself didn't have any romance, though it's just hinted about the relationship of Lu Xia (Ryoma) and Qi Ying (Sakuno). But even if there's no romance, the friendship, the brotherhood, and also their determination when playing tennis is worth watching more than anything. Try it

I'm really confused, generally with Chinese dramas, are they seriously using different sound recordings and not…
Usually it's the actress or the actors themselves who dub their voice. Sometimes it could be because of the wrong pronounciation or using a strong accent that could be interpreted wrongly in another province or area. They also dub it to make it a standard spoken chinese. But this drama didn't really dub the voices unless it's very necessary (like the person before me explain, during the English conversation)

I am only on ep 3 and idk if I should continue tbh. I am quite annoyed with the girl and I cannot really warm…
Honestly I watch it for Leon Zhang more than anything. But until the end the case is quite fun. The cases are simple and easy to figure out. And the two male leads have more chemistry anyway, so if you like bromance, then I'm sure you'll enjoy the show too. I sometimes forget the girl as she sometimes don't even appear in the story (she's like the background)

She did! And that's why the revenge is sweet :)

I remember pumping my fist when she become this badass woman who look down on her ex-husband and his cheating partner. I was so invested back then when I watch them haha

It's a daily drama from around 2007 I think? Well, it's definitely bad in the beginning because of all the abuse the girl receive. But the revenge is totally satisfying. This daily drama is still one of the most memorable one in the heart of drama lovers, especially in South Korea

99% of daily dramas and weekenders are all happy ending

So sorry I didn't see you mentioning rich guy poor girl O.o
But most of the daily dramas are like that. It's mostly rich guy poor girl, evil second leads, and the classic kdrama romance trope. I think you'll like most of them :)

"know it may be misleading when I say that the kdrama remake for BOF got lots of remakes from other countries…
I also apologize if I also sound harsh. But as a fan of the original japanese manga, to me the BOF korean version didn't match well with the original spirit. And to say that it carries all the BOF series after that is just weird, as we have Hana Yori Dango after that (2005) and also the sequel not long after

I did watch more Korean dramas, as I've been watching since the Glass Shoes back in what? 2001? 2002? I forget. Then I also watch Winter Sonata real time at that time

I do like She Was Pretty, and I do like a lot of rom com. I watch daily dramas, weekenders, and like some of them. That doesn't mean I hate rom coms or only like thriller, but Korean's rom coms generally just have 1 plot: poor hardworking girl, rich boy, hateful parents, love triangle/square/pentagon (and so on), etc. It might not be my cup of tea, but I do enjoy some of them

So sorry I just saw this. Which type of drama do you like? There are a lot of daily dramas. The daily drama that I like:
1. Smile Dong Hae (the drama that make Ji Chang Wook popular)
2. Wife's Temptation (is still one of the most popular drama, and you can hear the ost everywhere)
3. Golden Pouch (i love the family and it's fun to watch them)
4. Shining Eun Soo (kinda retarded, but the main couple interaction is really good)
5. Heaven's Promise (same theme as wife's temptation, if you like revenge and taking another identity type of story)
6. You are my destiny (oldies, but I think one of those series that I truly like)

And there are others but I couldn't remember. Those 6 titles are the ones that I remember. Actually many renowned actors start from daily dramas

Title Go Go Squid!
Dropped this after episode 34. I compared it too much to the novel that I became so unsatisfied with it. But now…
Do you also read the other 2 novels? Because it's about the trilogy of this series, but with the focus on Tong Nian and Gun's relationship. And we actually get ALL the scenes in the novel, just not the way we wanted it to be. And also to remind you: the screenwriter is the original novel author which is Mo Bao Fei Bao

Actually, it follows the timeline of the novel pretty well. There's added scene and there are some changes (in order to meet the standard television in China), but overall, I'm happy with the production. When I see the part that I recognize from the novel, it makes me happy

Did you know meteor shower had the first remake before BOF? I don't know where you got the notion that because of BOF every country started thinking of remaking it. The figure stated that the original manga is already very popular, one of the many mangas out there that surpased the millions mark selling, becoming best seller and reprinted in many countries. I just don't want you to make it as if BOF is the source while it's not. Have you ever read the manga before saying that?

I only pointed what you wrote in your articlr above. you said you hate those tropes and K-dramas are the one that use those tropes the most

Like I stated, I don't hate K-dramas. I probably watch more than you in my entire life. I love Signal and Tunnel, but how many K-dramas are actually have this kind of stunning cinematography, deep message, and good plot? Rarely

Saying I like NCIS more doesn't mean I like sex more. I'm Asian and had always been conservative so please refrain from cursing me using that words. And have you ever watched NCIS? I don't think so. If not then you wouldn't say that to me. NCIS after all, is a police procedural. It deals with corpses, not sex

Sorry.. A Hana Yori Dango series fan here.. I think I never get tired on all remake . But for me, original Meteor…
I agree with you. My absolute favorite of K-drama are old dramas, like My Golden Bride which make me fell in love with weekenders. K-dramas nowadays simply lack that one feeling that make you hooked. I usually watch 16eps of drama in just 3 hours and still able to grasp what's actually happening
Lively Persimmon Jul 31, 2018
I wasn't going to comment but your last remark about BOF quite irked me. As someone who had fallen in love with Hana Yori Dango way before Meteor Garden started (yes, I read the manga in Japanese when it was first published), I have to say that out of all versions, BOF was the worst. It didn't value the original feeling of the manga and I was shocked because they make Tsukushi (Jan Di) so pitiful and so poor I have to grit my teeth in annoyance. Tsukushi's family might not be well off but she's not that poor either that make her has to work as a dry cleaner for rich people. That's why I said they butchered it off. And without Meteor Garden in the early 2000s, then Hana Yori Dango (the Japanese version) in 2005, I don't think your BOF would even see the light as it was out in 2008 and the first china remake was in 2006

And I could understand that you like K-drama, but how about not dissing others? I find it extremely sad that you have to state "K-drama is the best" when it's not. It sounds like you're contradicting yourself when you explained about all the genre that you don't like and it's actually K-drama that has them the most

I don't hate K-drama, I enjoy them from time to time, but I wouldn't say that they're the best. As you've said, they're full of "cliche" tropes. I'd rather watched NCIS every single day because at least I'm not bored to tears while watching it or I have to be forced to use that FF button to skip all the fillers before I get to the main point

I understand that this is your opinion and everyone is free to express them, but the way you write it make me feel ill, because it seems like you're dissing other dramas and simply want people to not contradict you because, hey, it's just an opinion
