cheongah deserves so much better in every single way
she is the one with the least amount of screentime out of all the main characters (sidelining her in a drama that, above everything, is supposed to celebrate deafness) she is always sad and feeling miserable (we literally have seen her happy for like 2 minutes so far it feels like writers are trying to turn her into the martyr character) most of her scenes were with eungyeol in the past and now all of them are yichan related and none of her own ??? im just so tired of seeing her getting mistreated the whole time... we are on episode 12 for god's sake give my girl the recognition and love she deserves !!!!
on a side note: i feel like cheongah thinks yichan doesnt really reciprocate her feelings (and im not even saying as a lover but as a friend) like we know he tries but he is so fixated on eunyu he doesnt fully realize the one who is always there for him (apart from eungyeol) is cheongah until it is too late
yeah, I agree deafness doesn't make him less worthy as a father but did you watch episode 11? ML says that he…
deaf people can still enjoy music (through vibrations if you are completely deaf), they even showed it in the drama with cheongah listening to beats -- and as i said, i get that he wants to help him but eungyeol will have to come to terms with it at some point (btw the comparation you used is kinda,,, yeah)
If you could prevent someone from becoming deaf you wouldn't try your best to help them? The ability to hear,…
every disability has different types of limitations of that i am aware but in my opinion as a hard of hearing person, deafness is not as limiting as others can be (ex. in terms of mobility). now i get he wants to prevent it, i do, but adult yichan made his peace with it and got to live a very fulfilling life and therefore doesnt need any change? idk i feel like he needs to give up at some point and accept the outcome because it doesn sit right with me how everyone celebrates this as if deaf folks needed fixing (?) or as if there was something wrong with us which is not
this is gonna be a long ass review because i cannot take it anymore... there are SO many things about the deaf representation the writers got wrong i could write an essay (i did on tumblr lol) but i wont get into them rn as i am tired of pointing them out continually /unless anyone is curious enough to ask/
i (want to) believe yichan's deafness is a canon event and therefore cannot be changed --- i have been thinking he will lose his hearing progressively instead of immediately since the scene where he was getting tested in the audiology room and they didnt show us the results nor the process of the test itself (i would love to see him or any other deaf character using hearing aids but thats just my biased ass talking)
idk i feel like changing that part of him would throw away an important message which is: yichan is still the same person with or without his hearing, his deafness doesnt make him less worthy in any way. and at the same time this would also help eungyeol change his views on deafness (not as a liability but a difference one can perfectly live with)
and on a side note, i need everyone to STOP calling cheongah (and every other deaf person for that matter) DEAF-MUTE !! ----- the term deaf-mute is incorrect and shouldnt be used to refer to deaf people because it is disrespectful towards them since there isnt a condition that makes you both deaf and mute
deaf folks arent mute per se, they just choose not to use their voices for multiple reasons but they can and surely do make noises!! there are also deaf individuals that have been taught oral language for different reasons who can understand it and they use their voices to communicate with hearing people! it doesnt matter if they sound rusty, they CAN do it, which means they are, in fact, not mute !!! so if you see someone that is deaf and also mute, that is just a deaf person who also happens to be mute, as simple as that!
in conclusion: pay attention to what the deaf community has to say and dont trust baseless sources
