i'm only at episode 12 but everytime i see that ex husband i'm really annoyed. okay you decided to kill your wife for whatever reason, doesn't matter if you were forced or you actually wanted her dead but. you've already ruined her reputation, couldn't you find a less painful way to kill her? the way he threw her into the pit and hit her with the shovel was brutal. and then he buried her alive? it makes me so mad considering how much she sacrificed for him and gave up on so many things.

I'm aware but he's letting his guard down slowly unless it's all fake. and if their relationship escalates to someting more, when he finds out about the truth he will feel so guilty. But yeah maybe it won't go that far considering his character but we'll see.

It was a mere character analysis since we're discussing the show and characters here. it's just the truth he's been bullying GZY since he was a child. It's clear ZY has hard feeling because of this life long treatment. He happened to become sword wielder, whether he deserves it or not GSJ's behavior is also emotional. They are both acting emotional is what I'm trying to say.

In my opinion GSJ is not that different. He is almost blinded by his strong hatred of GZY, hatred caused by a rumor which was enough to bully him for years. On the other hand GZY is not an enemy, since GSJ is a "strategist" he should have seen that little friendliness would be enough to manipulate GZY. He would have even hand over the SW position to GSJ lmao.
They are already stuck at the valley, strong enemy on their throats, and GSJ is making everything worse with always challenging GZY. He has every right to demand the SW position since he's sure GZY is not a Gong but his attitude is also childishly emotional. I think they both need to grow emotionally.

But yeah, GSJ at the moment is more talented and wants the best of his people and definitely more on guard than GZY to his wife. When he finds out he was fooled by a wufeng spy he will blame himself too much. The guilt... oh I'm so ready for the flavor

This is the summary of the show and YWS is the main character as far as I understand.
It is perfectly fine to have other characters who have pivotal roles. Of course it is reasonable to have other spies too. What I'm trying to say is we have two spies, one seems stronger than the other and main character is always shown as the weaker one. I don't really understand what the writer's goal is with downgrading the main character all the time when she has a rival who has the exact same role and seems more capable than her. But as some people pointed out, weaknes is probably an act. And it might be early to comment on the purpose of the other characters' roles in the story with only ten episodes. So we'll see.
I love the drama and I'm hooked, it was just a complaint about reasonable writing with the consideration of the premise. Writers can write what they want to write but it has to contribute to the plot, serve to the purpose of the story. SGQ's story is very interesting and her dynamic with her future husband is intriguing too. Since i think YWS is the mc, I couldn't figure out why we follow SGQ like a main character too. We are watching two spies doing their thing in the valley, so i wish the premise was actually about two different spies who have different tasks and their rivalry and survival.

It's literally what I said, I hope she is fooling SGQ otherwise she looks weak. Right now we don't know anything and with what we're given she looks weak and I'm complaining about it. Genuinely wishing she is smarter than she lets on. Tbh I don't trust writers when it comes to writing consistent characters or being able to avoid cliche but this drama gives me hope considering they love showing the aftermath first.

I got frustrated at how easily she gave that medical record to her... I don't understand how YWS suddenly has become the weakest character. Even though I enjoy watching SGQ and her schemes, I find it unnecessary to give her too much storyline. Writing-wise, I don't understand what the point of having another spy who is stronger and cleverer than the main lead since we were supposed to watch YWS's story as the spy. I hope YWS is fooling SGQ especially in that fight scene because it was so quick. I get that other characters are important for the plot but focusing on them too much causing drama to kind of lose its focus. Like, we already have a spy who is the main character.

I LOVED the kiss. Easily one of my favorite kiss scenes. It was so gentle. GZY is a gentle person too. I love him and hope to see his character growth.

we still don't know why it was halted airing 3 months ago, they did not give an explanation. the rumor we're talking about here is about c-ent in general. they say that both serials and variety shows will undergo a strict regulation. If this rumor is true, there is a possibility that this drama will never be aired, considering the topics it covers.

yes she is super talented! in addition to everything you said, she has perfect characterizations and cleverly written dialogues that put the novel among my absolute favorites.
with the sci-fi touch they kind of changed the main message the story conveys but it's a shame that we can't even watch that version :( especially when they have the perfect actor for fei du

it has a lot to do with youku.
knowing the ban, rules, consequences and all the hype the drama will get they chose to release it which indicates they were unnecessarily brave about it. if they were not planning to rebel against the government(lmao) then they thought they could release it somehow.
but they halted it.
whether they had to do it because of the ban or not, it is their responsibility to give an explanation to fans.
even if they are not allowed to explain it is still their fault because even I know that you shouldn't release a bl adaptation when there is a BAN.
we don't know their intentions but for me, one of my favorite books getting a live adaptation years ago and out of no where, they drop it without the simplest promo, then i think yeah maybe now they are allowed to release these type of dramas so let's enjoy it, but then they halt it yet give no explanation.
they are at fault for putting viewers, long term fans and actors in this situation. because they knew the consequences.
if they were brave enough to release the drama they have to be brave enough to give an explanation. even if they are not allowed to explain, we have every right to be mad.
youku simply sucks. they did the same thing with woh. yeah reasons were different but they do not care about the fans or their responsibilities for fans who pay them.
we are here for entertainment but if we're talking about this attitude towards lgbt it is dehumanizing for millions of actual living people and yeah now that is clearly not youku's fault.

obiviously it being a bl adaptation is a big part of the problem but it still doesn't make sense. partly because of the same question, why did they release the drama to begin with, knowing BL is BANNED and partly because 8 episodes are still available, not removed. if it's halted because of this weird criminalisation of even the subtext of homosexual content than they would remove the other 8 episodes because they wouldn't be allowed to keep the episodes available for everyone.
everything is so messed up i'm just mad at everyone involved in the decision making process
