Can someone who speaks Korean explain why Seokryu (석류) is pronounced like songyu? At least that’s what it…
When ㄹ in the beginning of a syllable is preceded  by the final consonant ㄱ it becomes  an ㄴ. In turn the ㄱ , now followed by an ㄴ sound, needs to become ㅇ.
So 석류 (Seok-ryu) -> 성뉴 (Seong-Nyu)
