Hello everyone! Both authors here! Below are some points that we were trying to make in the article along with quotes from the article. We’d appreciate if the entire article was read before commenting, including the disclaimer and end side notes.
- The Untamed and boybands are not popular just because they have a lot of hot dudes. A show or boyband does not become popular just because of good-looking guys since there are countless shows with casts of hot dudes and countless boybands. o “The show itself, from the heart-wrenching storyline to the exceptional chemistry between characters, is a very entertaining watch. It’s very well done and deserves every bit of praise it receives – the hot guys in the show are just a plus.” o “Because The Untamed did an especially good job of executing the show and the show’s concept is fresh and new, it rose to extreme popularity and toppled a good number of long-standing dramas from their former position.”
o In the case of boybands, they don’t become popular just because of the hot, single guys. Music, dance, and personalities are big aspects too.
- “‘Rabid fangirl’ isn’t meant to be an insult and isn’t referring to the fanbase as a whole, just a few fans who are rather aggressive” o I could have stated it better since regular fans can get stuffs trending too. o The “rabid fangirls” are a small sector of a very wide audience. The Untamed fanbase has touched the hearts of many generations, genders, sexualities, nationalities, etc.
- We are two teens who just thought of a theory and decided it would be cool to write about o We did not write it because we are homophobic or trying to attack any fanbases or boybands. We sincerely apologize if anyone was offended by the article as we had no mal intent while writing. o “I am not attacking any K-pop groups or fans and especially not the show this article focuses on.”
- People can watch the Untamed from two viewpoints: friends and romance o We were unaware of the source material before watching the show so we watched seeing the two male leads as friends. The article is written from this view. o We fully support those who watched from a BL standpoint.
- Some people have pointed out that the marketing scheme doesn’t apply to the Untamed, since all the guys were already there in the source material. This is a great point!
Discussions and differing opinions are always welcome with kindness. We believe that everyone’s views come from a good place and have no mal intent. <3 Sorry if this sounds passive aggressive lol because it’s not meant that way (>_<) Happy drama watching!
Hi! Author here! Really enjoying reading the long comments rn. (dang some of them are really long O_O). I feel like this was, admittedly, a pandora's box type of topic to bring up. Just to reiterate, I don't mean to comment negatively on the show or discredit it. In fact, I love this show and would highly recommend it ^_^ This is my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own. Again, thank you for bothering yourself to read a random person's ramblings. Please remember to be respectful and nice to each other in the comments! ...please >_<
