Am I the only one who dont get the Douban hype? Why are they considered relevant still? Back in the day it was…
Some of the Douban comments for this drama are actually pretty constructive, pointing out what works and what doesn't, and the differences from the novel. I'm reading the novel at the moment, and can understand the criticisms and see where they're coming from. So I don't think it's fair to be dismissive just because it's not getting the score that people think it should get (currently it is 5.8). The drama is fairly entertaining and I do think Zhang Ruoyun is doing a solid job, but there are pretty glaring flaws as well. Let's hope the drama continues to improve.
Wow - that’s about halfway to YAMG’s inflated 4bn!!!
Wow, I didn't know that, thanks for sharing. I dropped it halfway cuz it was so boring and the acting was bad, especially Yang Yang. The gaming was zzz as well, so I can see why gamers were angry they were forced to watch the drama. I'm sure the leads are popular enough for the drama to reach good viewing stats, so there didn't really seem a need to do this.
Actually the Douban comments are not that bad, in fact there are quite a few well written and in-depth constructive…
I actually enjoy reading the douban posts, cuz as you pointed out, some of them are pretty constructive and offer good points on what works and what doesn't work in the drama. Since I'm reading the novel, it helps to see the differences and I can understand better their criticisms, rather than just dismissing them as haters. I think the Chinese audience genuinely wanted to like this show, as it's a big-budget one and highly anticipated, with a more or less assured leading actor and scriptwriter combo. So their disappointment is understandable. Hopefully the drama continues to pick up.
I wonder what the Chinese netizens are saying about this show. It seems like the FL is quite polarizing to the…
Comments are mixed. There is criticism about the "martial arts" choreography, the FL, editing, pacing and some of the story developments. But I think comments on Zhang Ruoyun's performance are generally positive.
I don't think story of the sss complete in 38 epi because according to novel he has take revenge for mom ,defeat…
The poster itself says season 1, so there should be a season 2 unless for some reason they decide not to continue. The scale of the source material was pretty big, so it would take another season (or two?) to finish the story arcs.
Yeah thats what throws me off when its a wuxia drama. Usually the main lead is taking the action and has like…
I'm reading the original novel and the pacing is slow as well. The drama's pacing is off because it has tried to speed things up and introduce a rush of characters and events but probably hasn't really set them up properly. So some character dynamics, development and interactions can feel off.

I think it's been mentioned, but the marketing for this drama made a mistake selling it as wuxia. It does have some wuxia elements, in that the ML learns martial arts and there is a jianghu setting, but it also has xuanhuan elements and a good amount of the story arcs also involve politics and power struggles. The original work is massive, and the ML's growth spans several volumes.
That said, even with so much going on, there's no excuse for shoddy fight scenes. The original work sure as heck didn't write fight scenes as though they were meant to be watched at x0.001 speed.
Well, I guess he didn't exactly murder Shiori since her fall was accidental, but he's definitely involved in it.…
Yeah, there's a manhunt out for Kase, he can't hide for long. Rio doesn't know the exact details but pretty sure she's not fooling herself about his involvement either even if Daiki won't tell her. I agree the open ending suited the drama quite well, and I especially love how it was Daiki who realised the enormity of what Kase has done all this while and takes it to heart - his tears as he talked to Rio on the phone... that got me right there.
An SP would be nice so I can get to see more of Matsushita Kouhei, heh.
(Edit: my bad, 986 chapters in total online!)
