No, the ending was good. But, maybe because of an annoying support female role, and the plot change in ep 19-21, they give the low rating. For me it's a 9

I bet you will, because from the synopsis some things change such as his focus more on conflict with aunt dong, and (apparently) the scene of Xiao Wu dying to save the hand was dropped which became an important point that made the hand and his friends start everything in the second part (go to sea god island, etc.)

Yes, this is one of the dramas with the most lead couple screen time in my opinion, and that's normal. I really like the second couple of this drama (Cheng Hui & Sheng Nina), I even try hard to look for their scenes in this drama every episode
