Interesting fact: Shi Peng Yuan's real name is Aisin-Gioro Yong Xin https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Aisin-Gioro he's a Manchu/Jurchen and a descendant of the last imperial house of the Qing dynasty; there are a lot of them, e.g. there's another actress named Ariel Aisin Gioro.
Some Cnetz think he looks like Guan Xiaotong when he was younger, and she's also a Manchu but descended from a different clan.
Do not appreciate this comparison. BaiLu has been in the industry for less than 10 years whereas Yangzi started…
Well that's what I mean, before Yangzi left her old agency I recall she was getting shoved in internal H&R Century productions like Immortal Samsara which nobody wanted to do (apparently the FL they wanted JingTian decided not to film because it was an obvious vehicle for Cheng Yi, and Yangzi was forced to do it despite rejecting the role https://www.jaynestars.com/news/after-casting-controversy-yang-zi-stars-in-agarwood-like-crumbs/) but she managed to leave H&R. I'm not saying Bai Lu will be better off without Yuzheng but Yuzheng is not someone a lot of people like.

Joseph Zeng is not from BFA though? Where did you get that information from? He is from a rich family in Shenzhen (he speaks and sings in Cantonese quite well, i like that) and he was in an idol boy group with Neo Hou before disbanding and joining acting. I mean I get that fans like him but you shouldn't pull information out from nowhere, I can read Chinese lol.
Bai Lu is very good for an untrained actor IMO, fyi a lot of these untrained actors are usually more popular than trained actors because they enter the working world earlier e.g. Zhao Lusi started acting at 19-20 after pausing her college, and they're more willing to act in "silly" idol romcoms or xianxia while trained actors from the Big 3 schools like the BFA, CAD, STA are usually more keen on doing stage plays, serious CCTV dramas and some have a haughtier attitude towards being recognised as a "serious actor" instead of doing everything for fame like idol actors do.
For what's worth in recent years people think the BFA, CAD, STA etc aren't recruiting the best, e.g. they usually accept child stars but the rest usually find it hard to get famous? There are actors like 1998er Lan Xiya (Wuhan University performance department) who aren't considered 科班 but are obviously extremely talented, Lan Xiya is the actress making the biggest splash in Chinese movies recently and every role she's done has got plaudits.

I'm not, I just explained it. In China at least they distinguish it very clearly e.g. there's 科班花 or 科班生 aka the popular actors & actresses who graduated from the Big 3 acting schools (sometimes Communication University of China is included, then it's Big 4 but the Big 3 is more prestigious) aka Beijing Film Academy, Central Academy of Drama, Shanghai Theatre Academy. These are the schools that all actor wannabe highschoolers audition for in China, and those that don't make it enrol in other less prestigious art schools or universitues e.g. Shanghai Institute of Visual Art (Zhang Miao Yi, Zhou Yutong) etc.
Bai Lu is a liuliang 流量花 like Esther Yu, Rosy Zhao, Yang Chaoyue etc, they aren't trained but because they have strong agency backing and strong internet fandom (they regularly post on Douyin, XHS, Weibo to keep their traffic and fandom interested) so they are considered traffic stars. Some liuliangs can be from the Big 3 schools e.g. Yangzi, Jackson Yee, Karry Wang (they are all famous child stars who attended acting school) but most aren't. Big 3 acting school graduates tend to not do idol dramas or xianxia (apparently xianxia is not well regarded in formal acting circles in China) and many of them do small roles, movies, stage plays, serious dramas etc but not idol dramas because what they're taught in acting school e.g. voice projection, dubbing cartoon characters, practicing different accents etc is different from what idol dramas usually require
It honestly infuriates me how often we get beautifully made C-dramas completely ruined by terrible script writing. The…
Bai Lu & Joseph Zeng aren't trained actors from the acting schools you listed fyi, in China the actors from the big 3 acting schools BFA, STA, CAD are called 科班 (most of them do not do idol dramas and do CCTV naturalistic dramas, they're reluctant to film xianxia e.g. Yangzi once said xianxia is looked down upon but she was jobless so she did Ashes of Love).
Even the actors from the performance departments of good universities e.g. Wuhan University (Huang Cancan), Hunan University (Shen Yue) etc are not considered 科班 because they're usually seen as less prestigious, hence they often have a harder career path than the. 科班花 or 科班生 unless they have good connections like Bai Lu who is backed by Yuzheng and HuanYu agency.
I think Bai Lu is at the age where she needs to pick her projects carefully and choose good scripts where she gets to use her own voice? She has a lot of fans including me so it annoys me that she's shoved by her boss Yuzheng into cheaply made dramas where the dubbing, costume, casting, writing is so meh and it's obviously meant for Bai Lu to use her popularity to get her MLs famous? There's nothing wrong with this but Yangzi is 2 years older and her dramas, costars, production quality etc are all what Bai Lu should be aiming for. I keep thinking Yuzheng will do her justice because she's the most popular actress in his agency but he seems to make her do a lot of same-y costume dramas for money or to boost the ML's fame e.g. Moonlight Mystique, Song of Youth or this

Song Zuer radiant at the Prisoner of Beauty wrap party yesterday!

She is guesting because the director filmed To Fly With You.
