Hi Imangla!Your comment, in the discussion section, was very well-written and tugged at my heartstrings. I could…
Yea, her making empty promises felt like watching a train wreck that you knew was coming. MiSo was a child but surely SeolHui as an adult knew how the world operated.

The more I think about it, more I think that MiSo and SeolHui had a lopsided relationship where the child got to drive the car instead of the adult. Instead of setting reasonable expectations, the parent went over and beyond to make it happen.

In a way, it isn't that different from KyungChae who is coddling Seri to her detriment. Sometimes, parents need to tell the child that the world cannot be ordered to our liking and the earlier we learn this lesson, the more prepared we are for the downturns.

Hopefully, she will learn from TaeGyeong when she teams up with him. So far, he is quite a wily fox and very interesting in how he is making his moves -- entering the lion's den (the company) with a smile and charm and has not showed his teeth or his identity. Instead he is biding his time and learning about the enemy from up close.

Thank you! I didn't think anyone would read it because it was so long... 🄰

I have also been wondering why SeolHui kept pushing so much. Given what she went through with the lawyer, I was expecting her to be more street smart in some ways. She chose not to deal with lawyer and instead went her ways. Why didn't she teach the same kind of thinking to MiSo?

Instead, she insisted when MiSo insisted. Maybe it is too much motherly love -- that was the problem? So she couldn't assess the situation practically?

Part of me wonders if SeolHui was just stubborn rather than naive or ignorant. She was so hung up on wanting a very specific kind of justice. Or maybe she wanted to prove that the world she had built for MiSo was good and she didn't want to break the glass dome. However, she didn't realize that the glass dome was already on its way to shatter.

Thank you! 🄰 I didn't think anyone would read it because it was so long but I just had to dump my thoughts somewhere (now that soompi is no longer there. sigh).

I know that for some, karma or divine retribution does not exist but I would say that it does. So even with the rich and powerful, it can be shocking when we see the wheels of justice turn in very unexpected ways.

I think what hurts is that justice may not look the way we want. When you are younger, it is easy to get riled up but with age and becoming an adult, that is one of the lessons you have to learn and accept with grace.

That is why I feel SeolHui didn't prepare MiSo and it was too much of a shock for her that the world was so cruel. I found it so interesting that Boram on the other hand was more aware of how the world runs. Both girls are the same age but one understood the bitter reality that it can be unfair and we cannot change the situation.

I appreciate the writer did a good job (as well as the actor) that I feel sorry for some secondary character like Boram -- so much complexity within a few minutes was shown. šŸ‘

Well, with time to digest the episode, I ended up coming back to the convo with Boram. While I felt sad for MiSo, I also felt sad for Boram. The questions she asked made me really think about justice, the system and our responses. In just a few short scenes, the writer has posed a lot of questions that happens in society. So posting my thoughts in discussions rather than comments as it is too long. Take a look and comment if interested.

Definitely; while part of me feels sorry for MiSo, another part of me feels that SeolHui hasn't prepared MiSo…
Yea, we knew from the onset it could happen but this is still surprisingly dark for a daily. Usually, it is either truck of doom or some accident like during a fight.

Here, it is a series of very real events that ends in something tragic. Since this was MiSo herself who jumped, it may be difficult legally to prosecute (depending on what kind of laws they have) which means that revenge is the only option for SeolHui.

I just skimmed through the raw episode. Looks like Miso is dead dead and it was self-harm. 😮 It does not look like dream/nightmare sequence.

We were discussing it but I am still shocked and surprised. You don't expect to see it in a daily. I was expecting the usual truck of doom where KyungChae or Chairman sent it.

Am not sure; I was convinced in the beginning because most dailys, FLs would lose their child and that is always the trigger for revenge. Here, plenty has happened already.
If she dies, it will be self-harm and that is pretty dark for a daily. I would expect this in a crime drama but in a daily, it would be shocking. If she died from truck of doom because she was depressed, it would be more in keeping with the genre.
The other option is that she falls into depression and has to be admitted into psych ward. So she is alive but not really. Or she falls into some sort of coma for years. That would be sufficient reason enough for revenge.
The third option that I can see is that she approaches lawyer after she finds out she is his daughter and uses his connections to move somewhere mysterious perhaps. So SeolHui returns as avenging angel in order to find out what happened to MiSo.

Yea, I have mixed emotions about SeolHui pushing for some sort of righting the wrong when she knows how the system is set up. So it might have been kinder if she had not promised MiSo that wrong will be be put right. MiSo initially did not want to create a drama and even claimed that she didn't know the assailant. However, there was no way for SeolHui to predict the kind of actions that KyungChae will take to ruin them.

It has been at least 2 episodes of Miso's screaming and throwing things as well as Seolhui causing a commotion…
Definitely; while part of me feels sorry for MiSo, another part of me feels that SeolHui hasn't prepared MiSo for downturns of life sufficiently at all. In some ways, it is surprising that MiSo is so innocent and thinks that her mother can truly fix the situation with an apology. Thought she would be more street smart.

She is not cognizant that despite all their best efforts, things are getting worse. While it is unfair and there is grief and pain involved, MiSo hasn't learned how to accept reality. Sometimes one has to let things go and pivot.

She also seems to have no idea about why she doesn't have a dad. That might become a plot point for later if the lawyer tries to cozy up to her and MiSo abandons SeolHui for lawyer because she thinks she needs a powerful dad to get up there in life.

it’s possible that they might work together in some capacity, but in my opinion sujeong is still a bit selfish…
I was just surprised that she seemed to have some sense of conscience and there are limits to what she will do -- so this family isn't all alike.

My guess is that she will use chairman to punish her. The only way for Seri to feel the weight of her actions if her family turn her back on her. Anyone else doing anything including authorities only feeds in to the narrative in her head that she is some victim of fate and people should feel sorry for her. So whatever SeolHui does has to hurt her where it hurts most. Ultimately Seri fears abandonment the most.

KyungChae essentially used money to hide the assault charges itself which is why Seri has not faced any legal consequences like a court case anywhere. However, she has been expelled from 4 or 5 schools and also been deported from one country. So there was some legal action from at least one country.

So whether it is boarding or living on her own with some nanny, the school authorities have been taking action. Because she has been expelled so many times, KyungChae also mentioned that it would be harder to find a school that would be willing to take her.

The issue wasn't her growing up abroad or away from home. Plenty of people go to boarding schools and are actually quite disciplined because boarding schools have a very strict routine. You get up at a certain time, breakfast at a fixed time, you sleep at a fixed time. If there are disciplinary issues, then the school will give punishment. Maybe you will have some sort of cleaning duty like in the kitchen, garden and so on. Or you may not get entertainment privileges like access to internet.

So Seri has never had to face the consequences of her actions and take accountability. No one has told her that her mood fluctuations is not a justified reason to lash out and hurt people. She keeps harping on the fact that she does not know who her bio mom is as a result for assault but no one has told her to quit it.

Instead, KyungChae has molly coddled her -- probably to make up for her guilt. She seems very fixated that her half-sister is bad but Seri is actually good even though it points to the contrary. šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

Chairman would step in and discipline her but he has left it to KyungChae. Maybe he feels that as he is not the biological father, he does not want to get too involved. The moment he steps in, things will be very bad for Seri.

While he is someone who has zero qualms about squashing other people, he is also the sort of person who will have no qualms on hurting his own if their actions hurt his business. He will cut them off without a second thought and abandon them. That is why his children toe the line because they know he cannot be messed with. It is a pity that KyungChae hides Seri because she actually deserves to have Chairman go after her.

Didn’t that just happen in The Third Marriage? Same chairman actor.
In that drama, he was smitten by the FL's beauty. Here, it seems less likely that he put his company or family in jeopardy unless SeolHui has some winning ticket.

When mentioned here by others, I thought it would be a nice twist but I am not sure if that will happen here. Chairman seems to be a smart devious manipulative type person. Why would he marry SeolHui when he knows what she looks like and has interacted with her.
