For people wondering it's basically like this: the BL stands for benkyou love (study love since the mc is a tutor get it?) the mangaka likes to write comedy manga that uses BL tropes. It's basically like one sided love, it won't lead to a relationship or kissing or xxx scenes... it's a comedy.
Personally I think it's fine, I think there's a place for this type of drama. Some ppl really hate it and apparently can't stand to watch and trash talk anything where the leads aren't getting it on by the end and for those people they probably shouldn't bother with this.
I just want to say I'm at episode 17 and I'm enjoying this a lot so far! Sometimes though I'll drop taiga deep in if I find the characters too disappointing but I like Mahiro so I hope that won't be the case here. I have a love/hate relationship with Michinaga haha
I’m watching this subbed but I decided to check out the final episodes raw and I’m not going to say I understood…
The series went from weird, to weird but you can at least understand some characters’ motivations (mostly Kazumi, I can imagine losing a child and not knowing where they are for 15 years can really effect a mother deeply, when I read the manga I couldn’t imagine something so awful that would make me feel sympathy for her and forgive her for how she treats her family but here they found something), to just completely an off the wall ending.
I’ll admit what has me hung up the most is the incest part. Before Renka and Hikaru found out they were twins they clearly liked each other but it could have been a just friends thing especially… idk after they found out they were brother and sister! The most sympathetic and normal characters in the show and now they’re just casually having an incestuous relationship (having a baby together just to make it extremely clear).
The way all the parents end up is crazy too. What is so good about any one of them that any other one of them actually wants to be in a relationship together (except for the teacher who is just horny) but I really don’t care about them.

I REALLY liked this drama! It was the first time I ever watched an NHK yoru drama and it was really different. The mystery was interesting and kept me guessing the whole time!
I like Furomitsu a lot but OMG how mad was I when she showed up to the serial killer's place without any sort of back up!! I know dramas do this but it drives me nuts every time! Forget even just about calling on the members of her team, she should have called on the police in the area of the museum. Like what did she think was going to happen when she showed up to stop the man who murdered at least three other women? And then she FINALLY realizes oh wait maybe I should have called some other people too after she gets there and Nekota is already almost dead. Up until that point I enjoyed that the episode was showing Furomitsu's progress.
I didn't want to watch this at first because I thought it would be too sad and it was but I was interested in the time period it took place in and seeing more shows with Matsushita Kouhei in them so I went for it!
imo the yakuza guy was most on the nose when it came to Ritsuko, that she was a woman who would do what she could to conform to what the man she was with wanted and doing what she thought would make them happy. The first husband kind of understood that and was able to see it because he didn't have a lot of darkness inside to face about himself (he was kind of like stalking her so he WAS weird but it wasn't dark, it was just that he loved her he thought), the people who had the worst things to say about her were people who had a darkness inside themselves that she tapped in to but they didn't want to face, she was simply reflecting their own worst feelings. Himemasa came to realize this too but it was too late for their relationship to work out.
I was really interested about Kohei and his feelings, I feel in the end he was left a much bigger mystery than Ritsuko was. All we know about him was that he really loved Ritsuko...
I don't hate it but I feel like the issues involved in this drama are heavier than it can handle. I think part of it is simply that this is just the way Japanese deal with things... sometimes it can come off as ok in dramas but this one just misses the mark.
I dropped this ages ago because the subs are slow and the show itself is really sad so doesn't motivate me do continue watching. But from time to time I still think about it and the person who's spent like a decade subbing it, I spent years waiting for the one or so episode a year that used to come out. They last posted in their blog a year ago this month so maybe they'll be back again...

I personally liked Serizawa more but I feel like Adachi is a better fit for Saijo!
