The true culprit in the series was Kinoshita Mamoru (Miki Ryosuke).
At the cliff near a bridge as Sayama Mieko (Shimizu Misa) approaches Mamoru, he instead questioned her if she was detective's wife and he's the one who was bold enough to call the teacher. Mamoru actually killed Takehiko by hitting him with a bold stick. It was a mistake for him to think that there was still a detective chasing Kenichi. If he got to the teacher, he would be in trouble. Kenichi was the one who followed the Takehiko's corpse, so he must have thought so if a building were to stand on top of the corpse, and claims that Kenichi was a stupid man and there is no way that he would build a building in a place where there is a possibility that a dead body would be found.
As Kohei arrives with Satsuki, suddenly Mamoru took Mieko hostage, claiming his plans are still ruined, and wanted to kill Mieko here.
After his crime was revealed, he planned to frame Kohei so he decides to make Mieko as the culprit for the killing Kenichi. Once the police car arrives, Kohei disarms Mamoru by hitting him, dropping the knife. Mieko then picks the knife, telling Mamoru that she was the detective's wife and she was a single woman, then she slaps him. The police then quickly arrested Mamoru.
