I feel like a lot of ppl watched Joy of Life because of Xiao Zhan, so if he's out of the drama, then this will affect the views of the drama a lot. And I'd hate for that to happen. I honestly found this drama through Xiao Zhan, but after watching so many eps and finally seeing him at last, I didn't recognize him at first! I had forgotten he was even there!!! This drama was that good! and the main lead was just amazing! While I would love nothing but to see Xiao Zhan acting alongside the ML in season 2, I hope if he doesn't take part in it, the drama won't get affected negatively.
